so as i was driving around with my friend, my sub woofer started hitting the bass really weird...shortly after a burning smell came...almost like a grinder, then no more bass! well ive had my sub since jan, hooked up to a DSC2000.1d, wired @ 2ohms, 56.1v on the multimeter, 2.5cf ported box...every thing was done right! why would this happen? should i contact Fi about getting this repaired?

  2. hi all. i have a bl 12 at dual 2 hooked up to a kicker 1500zx mono amp. its all hooked up correctly yet when i turn my car on the amp goes straight to protection. any thoughts on why it might be doing this? the only two problems i can think of is that my inline is a few volts low of the requierments, or the fact that i have 4 gauge wire and might need 0 gauge? the volts from the battery are only short by about .5 volts. any input or advice would be well appreciated!!!

I ordered 1 18" Fi SSD. I plan on getting another one soon. And was wondering what kind of amp I should get? I went ahead an got the dual 2 ohm voice coils on the amp. I'm looking for something cheap. Possibly well under $200? Currently I have a MA audio 18" 1100 watt amp with a legacy audio 2000 watt amp and it hits hard but it doesn't have near the quality I'm looking for. With the new SSD I'm looking to run either a 1ohm or 2 ohm config. Not sure yet what to do. Any ideas? I'm also wanting to run the SSD at atleast 650wrms 800 would be perfect.

Well it's time to move my set up from the S10 to the 325ix and have been crunching numbers to draw up a box. Right now I'm running my Q10 sealed at about 0.4ft^3 on a SAE-1000D at 2ohms. I will have considerable more space in the trunk of my car so Im wanting ported tuned to 27~28hz. I planned everything out so at net box volume of 1ft^3 I can use 3'' PVC at 22'' length to get 28hz. Now i'm no expert at enclosure design but I feel one 3'' port not flared will be too small? Pi*1.5^2= 7.06in^2 of port area. Id like some opinions on the matter. What do you guys think? Thanks, Mike B.

Does anyone have the specifications for the last model of the Q 18? I no longer have my saved WinISD profile, so that would work as well. Thanks!

I'm thinking of buying a FI Q to put in a sealed box in my spare tire well. The dimensions I have to work with are 24"(width)x26"(Depth)x10"(height). I'm a complete noob when it comes to building boxes but want to try to do this one. How do I figure out if I can make a box that will work with the FI Q with those dimensions and what size to make it etc?

  10. Hello everyone, I'm still trying to decide whether to buy one or two FI 15 BTLs. I will be buying each sub with: dual 2 Ohm, cooling package, HiXmCoil, I heat ring, and will be set for daily. For each sub, I was planning on either running a Hifonics BRZ3000.1D Pro with 3,000 watts RMS @ 1 Ohm, or a Memphis MC1.4000 Mojo which has 4,000 watts RMS @ 1 Ohm. Will the FI BTL 15 be able to handle 4,000 watts? or will the 3,000 watt amp be a better choice? Money is not an issue, and I'm going to do the Big 3 under the hood. I am also looking for the dimensions of a box for either the one or two 15s. The truck is a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab. I'm going to remove the…

Does anyone happen to know the magnet diameter on the older style Q10? I'm working on a new enclosure and have some very odd space constraints. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance, Mike B.

  13. My friend is buyin a Fi Q with all the extras and we were wandering if any body had any old box dimensions and i dont want the dimensions from the website Q 15 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of 2-2.6 cubic feet of volume. Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume. so plz if u have some dimensions for an 15" Fi Q ported box Thanks

so i've got up to 15 high x 32 wide x 20 deep to build an enclosure for my fi btl 12; it'd be going in the back of my jeep liberty. and im planning on using this sub daily on an alpine m2000 that i just got and the birth sheet says it'll put out 2274 watts, so i'll be playing it at its max. but i also want to start entering the local spl comps and i know the fi site says that 30-35 hz is where it should be and 32 is optimal, but i was wondering what would be the loudest hz for my application? thanks in advance

I got the box built a few days ago.. just wondering if I could throw the dimensions out here and you guys can tell me what it is size wise. He told me its around 8.7cubic feet and i think he said 32 hz is what its tuned too.. damn thing is huge, but here is the measurements 48 1/4th across, 20 1/8 height on the face plate, 24 1/2 tall.. the port i wasnt 100% sure how to measure properly so ill tell you what i did and if im wrong correct me and ill run out in the garage and re measure. I basically stuck the tape measure in the port, hooked on to where the inner port board stops and took that as my port depth measurement, which was 17", port is 6 7/8 wide, 18 1/2 tall, its …

Waiting till thursday to order teh new 12" Q but I want to get started on the box... I've got room for a 29.5x19x8.75 deep box... (this is going in the back of a 350z) This puts it at about 2.05 sq ft after the driver displacement. I was going to go sealed, but have changed to ported... I need to figure out the length of the ROUND port to use... I saw a post on the 350z forum where a guy used two 3" ports at about 32Hz "needed 34" total of 3" port to be tuned @32Hz" Can someone confirm, using your awesome math skills, that 34 inches total of 3" port is correct? I'll need to split the ports into two ports... I'm aiming for this look... FI Q12 in the Z... - MY350Z.COM For…

I have 2 15Q (1st gen with no options) with 2 saz1500d and it gets hot over a short period of heavy bass music. I was wondering is there any way I can increase the power handling of the sub. I am not from the US so to ship the motor over to get the partial BP would be expensive. would it be possible to use the BTL spider on the Q or other options? I know changing the spider would increase Fs and Qts but would it be significant? thanks

Whats a good port length for the BTL as a daily driver tuned around the recommended 32 hz and 14in^2 per cube? 2000rms power. Enclosure will be glassed into the side of my trunk and I have around 4600in^3 before any displacements to work with. So should be around 2cuft after. Trying to see if I can make a ported enclosure work or not. Thanks!
