Alright, so i finally have all the pieces together for the btl. Alternator, battery, amp, wiring, ect. So now to this whole... building my own box thing. i would prefer around 32hz and 7.5-8 ft^3 before displacements for sub and bracing. I have 3/4 inch MDF (its actually 11/16ths). So one question is how do i brace it properly? And... i need box calculations for a standard Sub facing up, port facing back of vehicle design. I really like Mac n' Cheese's idea of coating the inside of the box with resin, i might do that. so 7.5-8 cubic feet, 32hz, and the dimensions i have to work with in the back of my explorer are 44.5" wide, 25" tall, 22" deep. Maybe 30" tall if it make…

  5. I have a company to build my box, but I am not feeling very comfortable with what they are capable of. So, I want to show up with ideal measurements in hand and make sure they don't make a mistake. I have a 15 inch BL fully loaded dual 2 and will be running 1000w RMS to it. I need to build the box into the spare tire well and up a bit. I want to know where I should fire the port and roughly how many sqft I need and how to configure the port. Currently, I have a sealed box firing straight up. Its okay, but not great. The sub will be at he very back of the trunk, should I fire the port at an angle towards the rear window with the sub firing up?

Anyone have any experience with FI Q 4th order bandpass boxes? I'm thinking about doing one for two FI q 12's. I've heard they really help to eliminate trunk rattles when you port them through the deck. I have 2200 RMS to work with.

Can a pair of Fi Q15's be ported and tuned to 30hz in a properly sized enclosure, if my max external dimensions are 22" (d) x 19" (h) x 38.5" (w)? Less height and depth if possible... I was planning on running them sealed, since I know they have great lowend sealed, but if I can still have great lows with more output, I want to got for that. This is for a Dodge Magnum. My goal is to have the most output while maintaining a somewhat flat response, with the gut twisting lowend.

i currently have 1 18 btl in 7 cft box ported. but i have another btl which is stored in my room ^^. the problem is my trunk will only fit a 10 cft box without displacement. so would this be ok or should i stay with one btl and sell the other? would the volume increase with that small box?

I just bought two 15 fi Q's with BP and a aq2200 to power them at one ohm. Running 0ga and doing the big three also plan on another battery and a HO alt soon. My question is with the box setup, its my first time buliding one and would like to do it right. The max demensions are H 16 W 42 L 28,.(ported) i was thinking around 32 or 33 hz.. But i could be wrong? i want the lows and alot of bass but sound good aswell. my other question is should i put a divider and run a port for each sub or have them both to one port? Any input is helpfull thanks

For my Alero trunk I'm eventually going to buy a BTL 18 D2 with daily/all options. This is the cheapest & loudest daily setup I can think of and I've drawn up a shizload of boxes. I want lots of bass but don't want to shell out for a huge amp, alt, and batts. Power will be maximum 2000-2200 watts @ 1ohm unless I can borrow a huge amp for burps if having 1 fully charged battery will git-r-done. I will buy 1 battery and upgrade the alt if I have to but nothing crazy. RE Enclosure Calculator 1" MDF with 1" double baffle and no other bracing besides rabbit joints which I still am not sure if to use .25". 37 width x 28.72 depth (29.72 with baffle) x 20.5 height Displacemen…

The 15 inch BL box recommendations are (BL 15 – Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-37Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume) Im not exactly sure what size and hz i should tune my box to. I have one 15 BL fully loaded ment for daily personal use. Any recommendations on what will give my the best bang for my buck?

Hello, I'm thinking about getting 1 18" bl sub pretty soon, so I'm designing the enclosure now to make sure it fits. I have a 2000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, so the trunk is pretty big. I want to do a sub up, port back enclosure, but I'm open to anything. I'd like to get it around 7ft^3. Here are a couple pics from a crown vic's trunk. I wrote in my trunk dimensions on one of them. They are (as accurate as I could get ) 26"D x 41"W x 20" H (13" clearance under the spare tire, 20" for the whole trunk) Heres a video with the kind of enclosure I would like to build Would this be possible in my trunk? Also, what dimensions should I be looking at for my port? I'm a…

Hi, I have had my BTL 12 for several weeks now. Its fully loaded and only receiving around 1000 watts rms (PDX 1.1000). The enclosure is 3 cubes after displacement at 34 hz. On certain notes, i hear a popping noise. The notes are almost always higher notes. The spiders and leads look fine, but i dont have much experience with them. Is it possible that i am reaching the mechanical limits of the sub in this box at less than half power? Amp is not clipping to my knowledge. Voltage is stable when the noise sounds (less than half gain, no bass boost). Oh, and the popping is only heard at half volume plus. The sound sounds like its coming from under the dust cap. Any i…

i recently ordered a fi q 10 and it came in today i hooked it up to my RF p6002 wired 4 ohms and when ever i turn the volume up i hear a awful rattling noise it sounds like it is coming from under the dust cap. i read through the forum and found another person that had the same problem and i think it said his dust cap broke the glue loose or something. if this is the problem how do i fix it? and what do i need to do to fix it? again this is a brand new sub and has never been used before. does fi even test the subs before sending them out?

I just recieved my Q12 D2 and am now shopping for an amp. I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-1bd. This amp sends 1000w X 1 @ 1ohm or 250w X 1 @ 4ohms. I can run my Q12 in series and have a 4 ohm or parallel and have a 1 ohm. If I run this parallel, one of two things will happen, I don't know which, my understanding of electronics is limited, obviously. Either each voice coil will see 1000 watts, meaning 2000w are being run through the sub or each voice coil will see 500w, meaning 1000w are being run through the sub. If I run it in series, will each voice coil see 250w, meaning the sub sees 500w or will each voice coil see 125w, meaning the sub will s…

ok so ive had my sub for less than a month and today i heard strange pop. so i went to take a look and it just sound like a screw was loose. so i took the sub out and it wasn't that. Then i played the sub out of the box and when i turned the volume to about 30/62 it started making the same noise. it sounds like its coming from the center of the sub. so my question is what could it be.

okay I'm really confused right now. I have a feeling it's the cold messing with stuff but I'll seek some guidance anyways. So one day I warmed my sub up good and set the input lvl on my amp so it was all good no bottoming out or clipping or anything. I even set it with the volume a bit higher than I normally listen just to be safe. So then it gets really cold so I turn the sub woofer lvl down on my H/u. I've had it down for a bit now and as I warm it up I'll gradually turn that up along with the bass control knob. The other day I'm on my way to work (~15 min drive) and listening to my music after I had already been warming it up for a bit too. When I'm nearing work i cont…

As I stated in another topic, I burnt one of the voice coils in one of my 12" SSDs. One of the voice coils is still fine. I was just wondering...until I get the recone kit in the mail, is there any way to wire up my amp to just one of the voice coils? The reason I thought about this is I did the AA battery test (hooking up the + and - to the sub to hear the pop) and since that made noise, I was thinking maybe it could run off one voice coil. If that is possible, would it be bad to have one sub like that and one sub wired normally? Technically wouldn't it just be 1.5 ohms? My amp is 1 ohm stable. Thanks a bunch, Mike

I just down sized with my new vehicle so im thinking of running 2 15" Fi Q's sealed to help conserve trunk space. I want to keep using my T2500 but my question is will this be too much power to run these subs sealed? i plan on using an enclosure that is approximately 3^3ft per chamber. The car is a 2006 Impala SS. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanx.
