Will a 15" Fi Q with BP power be ok on a AQ2200D amp at 2 ohms (1300 watts) or will that be to much power?

i recently ordered a fi q 10 and it came in today i hooked it up to my RF p6002 wired 4 ohms and when ever i turn the volume up i hear a awful rattling noise it sounds like it is coming from under the dust cap. i read through the forum and found another person that had the same problem and i think it said his dust cap broke the glue loose or something. if this is the problem how do i fix it? and what do i need to do to fix it? again this is a brand new sub and has never been used before. does fi even test the subs before sending them out?

I just recieved my Q12 D2 and am now shopping for an amp. I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-1bd. This amp sends 1000w X 1 @ 1ohm or 250w X 1 @ 4ohms. I can run my Q12 in series and have a 4 ohm or parallel and have a 1 ohm. If I run this parallel, one of two things will happen, I don't know which, my understanding of electronics is limited, obviously. Either each voice coil will see 1000 watts, meaning 2000w are being run through the sub or each voice coil will see 500w, meaning 1000w are being run through the sub. If I run it in series, will each voice coil see 250w, meaning the sub sees 500w or will each voice coil see 125w, meaning the sub will s…

okay I'm really confused right now. I have a feeling it's the cold messing with stuff but I'll seek some guidance anyways. So one day I warmed my sub up good and set the input lvl on my amp so it was all good no bottoming out or clipping or anything. I even set it with the volume a bit higher than I normally listen just to be safe. So then it gets really cold so I turn the sub woofer lvl down on my H/u. I've had it down for a bit now and as I warm it up I'll gradually turn that up along with the bass control knob. The other day I'm on my way to work (~15 min drive) and listening to my music after I had already been warming it up for a bit too. When I'm nearing work i cont…

So I know these Fi speakers can take a beating, but I had my 18" SSD playing for maybe an hour at pretty high volume with some really heavy bass and I noticed a burning smell coming from it. The dustcap was pretty warm. I know its the voice coils, but I play at the same volume all the time and have never had this problem. Is it just because of the extended usage ? I know its not good when it happens. I'm running it off an Onkyo HT-S3100 5.1 receiver. I don't think its clipping, as the receiver would shut off. The sub is fine when not played for extended periods though. Should I be worried ?

As I stated in another topic, I burnt one of the voice coils in one of my 12" SSDs. One of the voice coils is still fine. I was just wondering...until I get the recone kit in the mail, is there any way to wire up my amp to just one of the voice coils? The reason I thought about this is I did the AA battery test (hooking up the + and - to the sub to hear the pop) and since that made noise, I was thinking maybe it could run off one voice coil. If that is possible, would it be bad to have one sub like that and one sub wired normally? Technically wouldn't it just be 1.5 ohms? My amp is 1 ohm stable. Thanks a bunch, Mike

I just down sized with my new vehicle so im thinking of running 2 15" Fi Q's sealed to help conserve trunk space. I want to keep using my T2500 but my question is will this be too much power to run these subs sealed? i plan on using an enclosure that is approximately 3^3ft per chamber. The car is a 2006 Impala SS. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanx.

Hey everybody, I have two 12" Fi SSD Dual 1-ohm subs(copper coil option only) in a ported enclosure being pushed by a Hifonics Bxi-2608D. Last week, one of the subs completely stopped working. No noise at all. I took both of the subwoofers out and tried swapping them to the other sides. Still, the same subwoofer doesn't work when wired to the other subs wiring. So that tells me that it's a problem with the sub itself, not the amp. When I push in on the sub, there is no grinding or anything of the sort. It's identical to the working subwoofer. Everything looks fine physically. So I tried hooking it up to a multimeter. One of the voice coils reads 1.1ohms, the other gives…

Well just in the past few days I have noticed that my sub was not working. Me being the lazy person that I am put it off for a while assuming that just a connection was loose. Yesterday I finally got around to taking a look and all the connections outside of the box looked fine. The amp (sae-1000D) looked to be working fine, but no movement or sound from the sub. With the music playing I pushed the cone a little and then it made a little effort but once I moved my hand away it did nothing. This was initially, but today the sub does nothing at all, even when I push on it. Still not sure if the amp could be damaged, I connected another sub that I had laying around and…

Title says it all. I can build a enclosure with about 11 cu ft (internal volume, displacement of the subs has been removed). I read on a forum a while ago that you get the best SQ if you go with a big vented enclosure. I want to hit the lows but not to loose the highs completely. I listen to almost everything that's called music. That means from Queen to ATB to Bob Marley. My goal is SQ. The car is a Toyota Celica GT, this one: I will be using a Hifonics BXi 2610D amplifier pushing 2600W rms on to two Fi Q 18" subs. The optimal vented enclosure as I have read is from 6-10 cu ft for one, meaning 12-20 cu.ft. for two subs. Or 4-8 cu.ft. for a sealed enclosure, 8-16 cu.f…

Well my 1 18in fi bl mag cracked. Dont ask me how lets just say that i am very sad that this happen. And another bad thing that happen is one of the voice coils went bad in it to. I took one of the subs out of the box cuz i heard alot of buzzing. Then saw that the top magnet of the motor was split in half. I dont know why this would happen but it went from me bumpin super hard to only bumping a little with one sub. So if anyone has a BL motor please let me know or give me some info on how i can get it replaced thanks.

  17. I've posted one thread similar to this one once before, But I felt the need to make one a little more clear. I own a Pontiac Grand Am. One of the worst vehicles to work with when it comes to car audio installs due to very limited room. I got an idea the other day sitting in the front seat looking back at my folded down back seats. I figured.. what if I took the open area where my seats fold down leading to my trunk area, put up one peice of 3/4 or so MDF across that opening, cutting a opening in it for the 18" BTL and another for a port that's tuned to 30-35 hz and using my entire trunk area as the enclosure, without the need to build an enitre box. Since there is not eno…

just finished reconing my 18" BTL a few days ago.. been breaking it in at low volume.. after i thought it was broken in, i turned it up slowly and as i started getting to about 1/4-3/8s level of where i would normally play at my sub makes some what of a clicking noise to the sound of the bass, kinda sounds like plastic on plastic nocking/rattling.. any ideas from any one here as to what it could be ? havent pulled the sub out of the box yet to check anything, dont want to if i dont have to..

Just ordered my 15" SSD and cant wait for it to arrive. Now on to buying an amp for this little beast. It will be going into a 2008 Nissan Frontier 4.0L V6, enclosed in a 4.2cf. Ground Shaker box. My main concern is how much this sub can handle. Its the Dual 1 Ohm version along the flat wind coil option which Ive heard ups the power handling. Ive been looking around for an amp, Was looking at the Kicker zx1000.1 which puts out about 1100-1200W RMS, the MTX Xthunder X1000D, and the Alpine MRP M1000 all puting out similar rms W (1000-1200). I would like to go with the MTX for the reason that it is on sale for $269 on sonic. Ill include a product list below along with the mo…

Hello, I'm planning on building my first system and I am wondering what specifications I should get on my FI 15'' BTL. I want to get it to 1 ohm, so would I go with dual 1 or dual 2? I am going to buy an AudioQue 2200D, it is 1 ohm stable. I am going to do the Big 3 once I buy a new HO alternator. Any tips and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, So i'm finally deciding to change my setup in my '90 Regal and i definately would like to go with some BTL subs. I'm starting to plan everything out beforehand so i figured i'd ask your opinions first. I'm planning on going with a ported box and having it forward facing (blocking off the trunk.) So the rear seat would be removed. I calculated my max box size i can fit ... and it comes to just over 3.3 cubic feet. This is the I.D. of the box and the woofer has a .21 displacement so i'm at just a tad over the 3 cubic feet mark. Now FI recommends a 3-5 cubic feet box size. I plan on playing mostly hip hop/rap with big bass notes. Would i be fine with only having a…
