so i want to keep as much of my trunk as possible, so what im woundering is. My old box was like a perfect square, if the new box is the same cubic feet, but more rectangle than square so it will stay in the rear of my trunk. How will that effect the sound?

Hi, I'm getting a Fi 12" Q and need some help on a ported box. I'll probably go with the recommend tuning of 32hz, but I was wondering what the main differences between 2.0 and 2.5 would be?

Hey, i recently built a box for my 2 Fi X 12's, it is a ported wedge box 4.37 cuft after port and sub displacements. I have a 4 inch ,"precision port", flare port and is 6 inches deep. The problem is that the sub closer to the port moves more and im thinking that i could get more out of the subs if they both had the same movement. A little confused.. i was told that it would be louder if i would have divided the box and but two separate ports, one on each side rather than one on the passenger side. By the way i have them on a Autotek MM1000.1D

If I were to order 3/4 MDF boards from Home Depot. How much should I get? I want to get a LITTLE more then I should get, but not an overload of it. This is for a 20H x 25W x 20D box that will hold a 15" BTL. Thanks, -Curt

So I'm fixin to build a box to house an 18. I don't, however, know how to calculate my port size or to tune it. My maximum external dimensions are 35"W 30"D 17"H. I want the sub to face the ceiling of my vehicle. I don't know if thats gonna effect the port location or not. If someone could kindly walk me through the process of designing and sizing the port for my box, I'd be eternally greatful and totally post a picture log of the build process. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I purchased a Q12 years ago and unfortunately for the life of me cannot remember if it is the dual 2 ohm or dual 1 ohm. There doesn't seem to be any markings on the sub or coils...how can I tell what I have? I could have sworn it was the dual 2, so I wired it in parallel to put a 1 ohm load on my amp. It sounds great, but the amp is going in protection mode when I turn it up. The amp is 1 ohm stable. So I pulled the sub out, wired it in series...which would put it at a 2 ohm load (if it was in fact a dual 1). No matter how much I turn it up, it stays on just fine. Problem fixed, right? Wrong. The sub sounds like crap now! As if the polarity is wrong or somethin…

  9. My friend is buyin a Fi Q with all the extras and we were wandering if any body had any old box dimensions and i dont want the dimensions from the website Q 15 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of 2-2.6 cubic feet of volume. Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume. so plz if u have some dimensions for an 15" Fi Q ported box Thanks

hi there i need some help with a box design. i plan on sealling off the trunk in my civic. i have a fully loaded btl. the box in it pounds now on highs. its a dual ported box not sure if its effecting more or less out put of the sub or not just wondering if a single ported box will be different its tuned at 35hz. i have a little over 5 cubes. i am looking for a single ported design with both the sub and the port firing forward. i plan on also doing competitions with this setup. i just got a new alternator coming and 1/0 guage wire. i am going to get a kinetics 16 volt battery or two depending on if i need it. but what box design would you recommend for spl and bass race.l…

Fully loaded BTL 15" w/ single saz1500d sounds like a whole bunch of sealed 10's. Except it goes lower and gets louder. The Police's greatest hits sounds great. I'm having some front stage issues, so I've been focusing on the bass... This BTL has great SQ! Better than my friends believed it would sound. Better than I expected too. I can't wait to add the other 1500d and 'glass the enclosure and also run a 100.4 on some CDT's.

  12. I wanna get a box built for my civic but don't know wtf to look for. Ok some info I plan on getting 1 fully loaded 15" btl when they update the site, and I wanna run at the most 2000w to it. Right now I only got an 800w amp but I plan on upgrading to a rockford fosgate t20001bd within a month. I also wanted to go ported instead of sealed on the box and I'm not to sure what Hz I should go with. Damn I feel so loss but I guess we all gotta start somewhere. So I'd appreciate the help and if more info is needed I'll give it. Thanks in advance

The motors on these woofers look almost identical. I know both woofers are made out of the same build house. Is there any difference in the motors? I know Xcon is more of a sound quality woofer, Im a owner, and the BTL is more of a SPL woofer. Is it the soft parts and the coil that make them sound different? Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

So i picked up my 18 inch btl with hiXM coil and cooling options(DAILY). Now for the amp. Normally i would say that i don't have the money for the SAZ-3000D, but i found it online refurbished for the same price that i can pick up the Rockford Fosgate t2001BD from sonicelectronix. I read a post from a guy who got the refurbished SAZ-3000D and he claimed that it was functionally perfect so i wouldn't mind purchasing it. both are about $560. I plan on doing all the elcetrical upgrades necessary for either of these amps (big 3, Kinetic hc2000, high output amp, all that good stuff) now my only concern is that my sub is the dual 2 ohm and i will be running it down to 1 ohm like…

I just got a 12 Q D2 with BP power hooked up with a JL 500/1. in a sealed 1.5(20*13*15.5) after sub displacement. is the amp to little for the sub? i set the amp to JL specs. and then i get clipping. i've used the same amp on others subs and get better sound and more power out of it. but with ported boxes using the same JL specs. how should i set it with a sealed box?

Since both the Fi BL 12 and BL 15 are 1000 watts RMS, and I have about 1200 watts to play with, which should I get? Would there be a huge difference? And on a completely unrelated note, how do you guys go about bolting down your enclosures in your trunk? I have a 06 Sentra and below the carpet in the trunk is the spare with a piece of cardboard over it. Now there is about a foot of exposed metal running down both sides of the trunk. Just curious about how it's done. *Guess I should have asked first, will a box for a 15" BL fit in the trunk of a Sentra? Thanks.

Guys i am fully aware that the flatwind and the coppercoils are two options you can not get together... My question is why can they not be done together (i am trying to learn all i can about the build of these subs for sheer knowledge) ? I was guessing that scott hasn't found the right coil for the flatwind to get a favorable response to have both copper and flatwind.... And if there is any great advantages to having both, WILL they eventually be a way to get both options? And if you guys were to find a way to incorporate both will the Q later have an option for the copper coil (I suspect the Q has a flatwind on it, thus no option for a copper coil)?

Hello all. I am currently running my 10" Fi ssd woofer in custom built ported box (sub up/port back). I love it! I have a kid on the way and would like to switch to a smaller sealed box for more space. I have a couple of questions: 1. Can purchase a prefab box that meets the recommened specs? 2. What size would be optimal? .6-1 cubic feet is what is recommended but would it be better to stay on the .6 side or the 1 cubic foot side? Thank you in advance...

Hi all, I just recently switched my Q10 from being sealed in an ext. cab S10 to .9cuft port enclosure in an '88 BMW 325ix. I took a ton of time designing the box for the bimmer because I was looking for more output down low so I shot for 27hz using 4in PVC. I got it all built up and installed and I'm slightly disappointed with it so far. Things just don't seem loud enough. I figured going ported AND in a larger cab compared to the S10 I would get more output but I'm getting significantly less. I must add, the enclosure is sealed up to the rear firewall firing into the cabin of the car through the ski pass hole so I have zero trunk rattle. I don't know how this would affec…

Alright, so i finally have all the pieces together for the btl. Alternator, battery, amp, wiring, ect. So now to this whole... building my own box thing. i would prefer around 32hz and 7.5-8 ft^3 before displacements for sub and bracing. I have 3/4 inch MDF (its actually 11/16ths). So one question is how do i brace it properly? And... i need box calculations for a standard Sub facing up, port facing back of vehicle design. I really like Mac n' Cheese's idea of coating the inside of the box with resin, i might do that. so 7.5-8 cubic feet, 32hz, and the dimensions i have to work with in the back of my explorer are 44.5" wide, 25" tall, 22" deep. Maybe 30" tall if it make…

I had a few questions that i am still not sure about. 1.What should my "ohms" be if im using a mono amplifier. 2.If my box is tuned to 3.25feet at 30HZ is that too little feet, and too low HZ? 3. Does anyone know a good mono amp to go with 1 fi BTL 15inch 4. Also is a BTL legit 2000RMS? i really aprciate all help, thanks everyone.
