I have 2 15Q (1st gen with no options) with 2 saz1500d and it gets hot over a short period of heavy bass music. I was wondering is there any way I can increase the power handling of the sub. I am not from the US so to ship the motor over to get the partial BP would be expensive. would it be possible to use the BTL spider on the Q or other options? I know changing the spider would increase Fs and Qts but would it be significant? thanks

im about to switch to port tubes instead of slot ports and i was wondering if i have 2 18" fi q's how many 6" diameter ports would i need. i have the box set up into two chambers at 7.1 cubes each. i was wanting to tune the box around 31-33 hz. i didn't know if i should use 2 ports per chamber or just one and what the exact lengthe should be.....ive used most calculators and they are telling me with 1 6" port in a 7.1 cube box the length should only have to be 6 inches, which doesnt seem right b/c i was thinkin more like 15-16 inches. shoot me some info thanks

  3. My first major build and I want to do it correctly, please point out potential issues. Just bought an SAZ1500d V.2 amp cause I found a smoking deal and couldn't pass it up. It's on a truck barreling towards my house right now Looking for a sub to pair it with and the Q caught my eye. Looks as if I add the cooling package to the sub I can pump another 200-500 watts into her which will align perfectly with the Sundown's output. Going Dual 2 Ohm coils and wire it all up for total impedance of 1 ohm and I should be styling. Only thing I'm still debating is whether I should go with an 18" or 15" woofer. The 18 attracts me for the sheer fact that it's an 18. It'll b…

how much power could one safely put into a fully loaded Fi q 18? i got my sp4 fixed and will be testing some boxes but if i dont get the sounds i want i am going to sell it and buy another sub. the Q seems a logical choice as i want more frequencies but also want to keep the volume. i am undecided on single or dual or sealed vs ported. my thought was that if i replace the SP4 i would get 2 q's and thus have greater cone area with more control and higher bass frequency range. in my mind that would mean i could get more volume out of them than the sp4. the power handling would be close to the same

So there is someone selling a blown 15" icon and i was thinking of picking it up. I was wondering if I could recone it with Q coils and put it in a 3 cu fu. @ 32 Hz? Would this work or am i just thinking to crazy? also how much would a 15" Q recone cost to 94803? thanks

i sent my woofer in for a recone and spoke with nick via email briefly, but havent heard a response in a while. i need to get the sub back asap, im not sure how much to pay them for it with shipping to 85259. if anyone can contact them via phone, that would be fantastic as i would love to have the sub back by thursday or friday for a road trip. i know its 75 plus shipping, but im not sure how much the shipping is and if it can be back to me by then. he said it can be done within a day if need be. Thanks, anthony iocca he can reach me at 480-648-6785. my email is down right now.

Ordered under Jeffrey Squier Bought the Q back in Janurary. I have been told that the spider is blown. This is my only resort of maybe getting some info on what to do to send it back to you all to be re-coned. I know that you all are a busy group, but please respond, as I have a nice paperweight on my hands.

Does any one know what the QTS becomes on the option of raising the QTS? I plan on getting a pair for sealed, but want to know what the QTS are. Also Plan to run a 1500 rms to each, should i get a extra spider? just dont want to lose the low end making it to stiff in a sealed box. input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying a FI Q to put in a sealed box in my spare tire well. The dimensions I have to work with are 24"(width)x26"(Depth)x10"(height). I'm a complete noob when it comes to building boxes but want to try to do this one. How do I figure out if I can make a box that will work with the FI Q with those dimensions and what size to make it etc?

i understand the high QTS option is for sealed setups, but has anyone throwin a Q series with the high QTS in a ported box? how did it sound and would you see a problem with doing this?

I have the ability to do a drop in head to head test w/ TermLab results between a Havoc and a Q 15 ported tomorrow. Anyone interested? And any other test you guys want? I have a TermLab, a Havoc 15, and a Q 15 so all is good to compare if there is interest!

Just made a topic so you don't have to scroll through pages to find it... Ok first things first. The test was done in my car with my equipment (in signature). The box is 4.5 cubic feet net tuned to 32 hz with 57.25 in^2 of port area. Subs: 15" Havoc and 15" Q with BP option (both have embedded tinsels) Yummy pics: Here are TermLab results... Outlaw style (at the kick, both windows open) Q: Havoc: Legal (sealed up at the dash) Q: Havoc: Listening experience: To tell you the truth, unless you are a freaking machine, I doubt you would be able to tell the difference between these two drivers under the exact same circumstances. Now everything I am saying is dealing wit…

I have 1.0 cubic feet before displacement and it is a sealed box. I am wondering will I be able to get a 12" in there with adding polyfill and make it sound good or should I stick with the 10". I will have a sundown sae1000d powering either one.

So i am using my 15" Q for a home theater sub, 12cuft tuned to ~12hz or so. It is a monster on only 1000 watts. Through reading allot on subs and linear tech im wondering how the Q's coil is setup, underhung/overhung, any linear tech, shorting ring, and if there is anything special about it? Im more or less wanting to compare what i am listening to and what its tech is compared to what some people are using. I have to say though that the Q in my enclosure is a pretty amazing experience. just need to get maybe another 500 watts to it and some way of keeping my house's voltage stable. thanks!

I'm putting a Q10 in a sealed box and am looking for a good size for SQ. The website recommends .2 to .6 cu ft. I should have 1000 watts @2Ohms available. Would a larger or smaller box lend itself to better SQ. Thanks.

i am toying with the idea of either a ported 10Q or a sealed 12Q. overall i want SQ, but want it to get loud. i listen to mostly rock music and really enjoy a good jamming bass line. i am a sales rep so i spend alot of time on the road and due to needing the space for samples i don't want a box much bigger than 1.5 cubes ( MAX ). my question is this- i already have the AX600DE-- is it enough to drive a 12Q sealed? i know that at 1 ohm it will drive 600W ( on paper ). the amp is extremely efficient, but will it really drive either Q? this is more of a question for Scott or someone with experience with Fi. i am not a newbie by any means- i am just looking for s…

Gday all I am running two FI Q 12" D2's in a daily driver with a box that was built for it by a local car audio installer using a single round port. Sounds reasonable but no where near as loud as I expected from these speakers. I am driving them with a Hifonics 2k rms amp Boot mounted Optima inline with another optima under the hood. Also have a 2.5 Frd Cap. This is a boot mount install in a Aussie car Called a XR6 Family sized four door sedan.. ATM I have the speakers behind the back seat pointing into the car and the port facing the same way. Metered this setup at 132.5 before i upgraded the batteries seen alot better scores out of single speaker setups with similar siz…

  21. New Fi Q15 owner here. Fresh to these forums too. I just wanted to share about my project and also had a few questions and was hoping for some feedback/opinions. Recently got my hands on BB6 pro and built a pretty bitchin' (and simple) PR setup for my buddy's Saturn ION that piqued my interest to try it again, but bigger and with more power. I used a Resonant Engineering SEx10 paired up with a TC sounds VMP12 (stock 390g mms) in a prefab 1.8cf sealed 15" box. Made a speaker ring adapter for the 12 in the 15" hole, and then cut a hole in the side of the box for the 10". We were very pleased with the amount of LF output this little bad boy has, and still being super clean …

So since my order still hasn't shipped after 10 business days, I might as well make sure my box dimensions are correct. Going with a 3.5 cube ft box tuned ~32 Hz Port is 17" by 3" and 37 inches long Anyone see anything wrong with this? Thanks.

Could one of you check my port length for me? 4 cubes @ 32Hz with 2.75" wide x 20.5" tall port is what I'm aiming for. I used an online calculator and it said the port needed to be 29.5" long... but someone else told me it needed to be like 36.5"? Thanks a lot

  24. My enclosure is strangely shaped because of my spare tire, but it's 4 cubes @ 32 Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port area. My Q15 has the BP power option and I'm powering it with a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D. My headunit has 2V pre-outs and the 1000D has a 0.2v - 6v adjustable input sensitivity, so my gain is about 3/4 of the way up. I have an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, big three with 1/0, 1 group 65 Duralast Gold battery and 2 Kinetik HC1800 batteries wired in parallel with 1/0 gauge... Hello , Fi community I got my fi Q 18inch a month ago. I had some time to play with it.... hooked on a bxi2006d @1ohm Right now, it's in a 6.5 net enclosure tuned to 30hz with three 4x15 inch aeros. It hit the 35-40hz freq nicely, but i'm sure i can get more out of it. This summer, i'll be might be working on a way to use my wheel pit and get another 2ft/cu maybe. How will the increase enclosure volume help the Q, i mean in loudness and sq. I'm thinking i might get more prononced 30-40hz range, is that accurated? how much louder? is it worth the trouble fiberglassing the wheel pit??? Also, the 55-80hz range ain't loud at all, is it normal? i mean my old alpine type r we…
