Hello all Long story short. My friend told me to check out FI Audio. I surfed through the FI forums for days and have concluded that the SSD or Q line sub woofers will do everything I need. There are several extra options for each series. I ask you experts, what do you think is best for my application. Ohm load on the amps and cuft of the box are limiting factors. Amps: Two RF 500m's (if you are not familiar with the watts RMS or ohm configurations of these amps ask...I will explain them) Ohms limitations: min 2ohm mono load per amp or min 4ohm load in a bridge mono configuration using both amps. Box Space Ideal limit: 4cuft total or less Open options: speaker siz…

Just bought a pair of the older double slug Q15's for my buddies install in his Suburban. Can't remember the specs of these models, so I wanted to get it straight from you guys at Fi. They are fully loaded and I also believe they are the high QTS models, as the previous owner had them installed in sealed boxes.... My friend is looking to have me design a sealed enclosure for them, and I am not sure what the recommended volume is for them. Can you help me out? They will be powered with an MB Quart Onyx 1000 @ 2 ohms for about 750 RMS to the pair. Possibly will add a second amp to power each sub on its own amp later down the road, but that has not been decided yet. Merry Ch…

  4. Hello, I recently purchased an Fi Q 10" and have it in a .6^3ft sealed box (Before displacement). I am running it off an Alphasonik PMA1200D @ 4ohms (approx. 1200 watts) and I notice that the output seems to be really low and kind of dissapointing. It seems to get any real output the gains have to be turned very high along with the bass boost (which of course in not what you want to do). At this point I am not sure if I should try it in a ported enclosure or if something could be wrong with my amp perhaps. Has anyone else had any of these issues? Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

first off i have an 18" fi q with the bp power option and a hifonics 1610d amp. its in a focus, and it will b in a 7 cubic foot box hopefully, but my question is that i want to use pvc ports instead of the normal slot port, i used the winisd program, but either im an idiot, or its really hard to use. i put in my t-s parameters for the q and then i set it to 7 cubic feet and put the tuning at 28 hz. then i changed the porting to round and put in that i wanted to use 2 4" ports. it says they need to be 9.25" each. is there nebody out there that can check that for me to make sure its correct? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

Okay, so i messed up a little. I have a hifonics bxi2601d amp, and i wanted to wire my sub to 1ohm. I ordered a 12" fi BTL fully loaded dual 1ohm model... OOPS! anyways, i tried to change the order, we'll see how that works. If i am stuck with the 1ohm model, and i wire my sub to 2ohms, meaning it will get the rated 1700w rms, (probabaly 1200-1500 actually) do you think it'll sound under powered? I'm running 0/1 gauge wires, and my box is 2.73^3. Stock alt and battery for now. My goal is to sound better than a jl 13w7, my buddy said hes hitting 143db on the reader. you think Ill get him?

Hey guys, i recently built a box for my 18" BL and i realized it doesnt really have the low end that I am looking for. So, I'm looking at blocking up one of my ports to lower the tuning. my question about this is the vent velocity. currently, its tuned to around 37Hz. if i blocked up one of the ports, i'd lower it down to 31Hz. Vent velocity is what worries me though: at 37Hz, I have a peak of 15.7m/s VV @ 25Hz at 31Hz, I'd have a peak of 22.9m/s VV @ 22Hz; i reach 15.7m/s of VV with the 31Hz tuning @ 34Hz Is it worth it? or will the port noise be to much? the group delay also jumps a little bit, but i'm not to worried about that because it all happens in the 24Hz range…

Well I've finally decided to stop being lazy and put my BL in my truck but I ran into a problem while figuring out the port length. I have a 12" BL and I want to put it in a 2.5^2 ft. box tuned to 32 Hz. To do this with 2 4" aero ports they are gonna have to be about 24" I would just do slotted but since the box has to be slanted down on the top and up on the bottom I'm not sure how that would work. So I'm wondering if i could just use one 4" aero or if there are any other thing I can do to make this work. Thanks

  12. The tech page says the cooling option increases power handling by 200-500 watts depending on install and scenario. Would I be wrong in guessing a sealed enclosure (in the neighborhood of 1.2 cu ft) would put it towards the higher end of that increase estimate?

Well my 1 18in fi bl mag cracked. Dont ask me how lets just say that i am very sad that this happen. And another bad thing that happen is one of the voice coils went bad in it to. I took one of the subs out of the box cuz i heard alot of buzzing. Then saw that the top magnet of the motor was split in half. I dont know why this would happen but it went from me bumpin super hard to only bumping a little with one sub. So if anyone has a BL motor please let me know or give me some info on how i can get it replaced thanks.

So, after much nagging, my old lady talked me out of doing the pacman design with 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck cause it would take up every inch. So, will I be able to put 3 15's straight across the bed of my truck so that I have a little room to put stuff towards the end of the bed in my truck. Or will I have to go with two BTL's. 6'6" front to back 5'3" wide 4'1" wide between wheel wells 1'10" from one end to the wheel well 1'8.5" from other end to wheel well These are some dimensions I got from one of those custom fit rubber mats for the bed of this truck. I think the bed is about 21" deep. LOL, my old lady thanks you..........

assuming both are in 8^3 ft @ 32 hz with 3kw to split between them @ 2 ohms with equal installs. which ones would be louder? my main concern is, do these subwoofers basically take power the same way and just 1 gears it more towards an SQ aspect and the other a SPL aspect. or is basically just the power applied that will determine which is louder? i mean both are rated @ 1kw and the only thing that seperates them are the power options that apply to the thermal side of power handling. but mechanically, as far as power handling goes, are they the same? same stiffness spiders etc? i have been told by one guy that his 2 15" q's were louder off 1.2kw of power than his bl 15's t…

How u doing FI, im from miami fl and i have a single cab dodge ram 1500 with 3 15" kicker cvx subwoofer in a sealed box. All powerd by 3 1100 MONOBLOCK MEMPHIS amplifiers. I have 2 kinetic batterys and a 250 amp alternator. I hit around 152.4 db. now i know that your bl 15 will fit in the box, but i only have 1.8 cubes per speaker. what do u suggest? Maybe getting the Q that also handles 1000 watts rms? basically what speaker will give me the most db's with the set up i have now? here is a pic of my set up. Thanks and i look foward to joining team FI

i know this subject is beaten to death but this time i actually have some specifics im either buying a BL 15 or 18 this is going into an 09 scion xb (hatchback/crossover) upfiring for the 18 this is probably the box i would build 14 sq inches port per foot about 6.22 volume or 6.5 if i invert the sub or, i could do a 15 and put it into the ideal box, as there is definitely room for one

a friend wants a fi q 18" in a blow through box in his S10. my thought was to build a box in the bed with a collar of linexed MDF into the cab. once i have the box built then i would build another box over it to span the distance of the bed rails and help weather proof the box in the bed. a ZX1500.1 will be his amp with a 220A mechman alt and a XS 2500 battery. he mostly listens to chilly peppers, some techno, basically what ever pandora throws on. to that end i think the sub might do well tuned a tad higher than 32 but what are your thoughts? is there anything that most people over look when building a blow through?

I just down sized with my new vehicle so im thinking of running 2 15" Fi Q's sealed to help conserve trunk space. I want to keep using my T2500 but my question is will this be too much power to run these subs sealed? i plan on using an enclosure that is approximately 3^3ft per chamber. The car is a 2006 Impala SS. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanx.

I would like to get a FI 12 Q sub. On the front page of the FI website it says "All subwoofers are custom made to your desired options in 3-7 business days" but contradicts itself when you go to order the sub which says "30 day build time due to US steel delays." Which one is it? I want one of these subs but not sure I want to wait 30 days for a build on it.
