I am very curious on this one. About how tall would a box have to be to fit a 18" BTL forward facing in it. I am curious cause I wonder if I can get it in the bed of my truck or not. I don't think I can, but am curious none-the-less. Thanks

Hey guys, as the topic says I have a problem with a SSD 12... the spider feels very weak in a spot like there is a crack under the top one. So my question is will it be fine to run like that? (i don't know how long its been that way but it worked fine till the day I took it out) or do I need a recone so it doesn't get any worse? Thanks

with a box at 27x21x27 what size port would i need to run a 18"btl at 2000 watts? this is just the available area for the box. with displacement it puts the box at 7.13ft^3. and i am using 3/4 mdf. or would it be better to run both btl's in the same enclosure and port it. if so the box would change to 27x42x27. what port length would be needed to run it at 32hz?

Well my mojos are starting to suck...blew a coil actually. And now its time to upgrade to BTLs I'm stuck between 2 15s or 2 18s Here is the scenario: The ports will be outside the box. I am going to use these ports... Deal Breaker for 15s: the only practical option is to use 1 of those ports for 8 cubes Fi recommends 12 - 16 square inches of port per cube 8cuft x 12 = 96 8cuft x 16 = 144 So about 96-144 sq inches recommended. that port is only 70 sq in. Would that be a problem? Deal Breaker for 18s: The only problem for the 18s (using 2 of these ports) is that the box would simply be too long to conventionally mount the ports outside the box... So to still be able to …

So this is how much room I would like to use, but I have more room if necessary (I need some trunk space ) My dimensions are 33x21x17 and here is a picture with how what space I would like to take up. Just post your input on if this is good or if I should add more space for the box and how much! This should be around 6.817 cubes without any displacement. (btw this picture isn't mine I just googled what an 05 equinox trunk looks like, and no those side panels do not come out) hmm for some reason the picture came out a little blurry, but I think you should get the point and for the height I can also do up to about 21 inches so if i wanted to mount the sub back i cou…

( i am also using 3/4 inch mdf) And should I have a baffle in between the subs or would one large box be best? Box 1 height 19" width 39.5" depth 23" Box 2 height 16" width 39" depth 35" Any help would be appreciated.

So, I've got a question regarding the power handling capability of the X series 15" sub. I'm building a Tapped Horn that's going to load the sub down at 25hz and 60hz. I am expecting to see maybe 5mm excursion @ 400 watts at those two frequencies with a max excursion of 14mm @ 30Hz. My question would be, in your guys' opinion, will I burn up the VC because there won't be enough motion to cool the coil off? This whole project is a bit of a technical practical to see how low and loud I can go. The tapped horn should give me excellent low end extension into ~20Hz and keep the coil in the gap @ 400watts. Just wanted your guys' opinion on the power handing capacity. Thank…

I'm needing some advice on a box design for a 18" btl (old style) going in the back of a 1996 gmc suburban. Its a daily driver (no competitions) and Im looking for decent sound quality while hitting low and hard. I listen to mostly rap music and a little r & b. Not sure which way I should face the sub or the port or any of the box details to best suit my needs. Space should not be a issue since its going in suburban. Here are some other details about the install. Amp: Memphis 16-2000d (old school mojo) Components: 2 sets of CDT CL-61A w/ a kicker zx200.2 amp Electrical: 200 HO alternator and 2 yellow tops. 1/0 monster cable everywhere Head Unit: Jensen vm9411x (Yes …

i have 2 woofers that i had bought from Brian Owens off of CA.com that wer crossfire motors with a fi basket & BTL softparts. i had an issue with one of them before and emailed FI and got a fast reply and they fixed it and got it back to me within a week. well i have since torn the spiders on these woofers and contacted to get them reconed several months ago but got no reply. i just let it go and they have been sitting for awhile. well i sold 2 of the motors and ordered BTL recones to do it myself as i have done for other production BTL's before. well im not sure if i ordered the kits for the wrong series of BTL's or what but i did one and messed it up somehow the coi…

Can anyone recommend one? I purchased a dual 2 ohm Fi BL 15 and my current amp does not have a subsonic filter (which the install guy says will be needed to best tune the system). Some of the amps on the SSA website don't tell me what load they are stable at in Mono.

ok someone told me before that if they were standard 3" coils then they could be reconed. well i got bored and ripped on of my blown T1's apart. outside of the coil is 3.204"-3.244" and the inside of the coil is 3.020"-3.051". bent a lil bit, maybe from removing it. how much would it cost to recone? how much power would it be able to handle? would i just be better off buying ssd's? thanks. p.s.- any more dimensions needed ill see what i can do, its kinda hard to get into the basket with a 6" dial caliper . but ill see what i can do if ya need me to. the gap in the motor is approx. .145"

Before anything, how much power will a Q with BP cooling handle, if gains are set properly, no audible clipping, etc.? Okay, first off, the SSD should be louder then the Q, IN THEORY (disregard the box and everything), due to it's higher sensitivity, correct? Second, the SSD is known to be heavy on the low end bass, but a bit lacking in the higher freqs. How does the Q do? Will the Q slam as hard as the SSD? In other words, will the Q reach that ass-dragging low bass that rap music is typical of? Thanks, I'm going to ask a couple more questions based upon the answers I receive to this, so check back. -SteveSan

Since my second Q is getting here tomorrow, I thought why dont I start working on the box like tomorrow or Saturday since I have nothing better to do on those days.. So I was hoping that there is someone around here that is an expert at box designs and cutout measurements could help me on making a design and measurements then I'll build it... The box is going to be for 2 15 inch Fi Q's.. Ported.. I would like the subs firing upwards and port firing towards the hatch.. Also, I want it to be tuned at 32hz.. It will be going in my explorer.. so the max dimensions I got: Height: 16 1/2 inches Length: 41 1/2 inches Width: This wont matter, I got plenty of room, but would li…

Can I get someone to assist me with an enclosure design for dual SP4 18s. Max dimensions are 27L x 30D x 30H. I'm currently running 2 15s and wanting to go with 18s. Power is a non issue since I'm now using two Crescendo 3.5ks. If this is possible please let me know. Looking to order the subs this week.
