Hey guys, bottom line is i have designed a few enclosures and they sucked. I'm not so bad on the building part, just the calculating port length and area and volume and stuff. I have a 15Q and was wondering if someone could design me a box of around i dunno 3-4cubes tuned to like 30-33hz. My trunk limits the box to be like 16-16.5 inches tall (otherwise it won't slide in) and uhh yeah thats the only real limitation. Thanks in advance.

Ordering one x12 4 ohm sub today with BP Power option. It will be running in the 320 to 400 watt range. The specs call for a box .6 to 1.1 cuft. Why is there such a range and what is the difference if i built a box at .6 cuft versus building it at 1.1cuft? I have the room to build it to the max dimensions, just would like some more info? How do I figure out exactly what size I need to make it sound great? I listen to mostly older rock, 70's and 80's, but some newer stuff to as well as a little rap if it is a good song.

  6. i have four btl 18s. is it safe to try to drill the terminals to make them just a little bit wider? i cant fit a full piece of 8 gauge into one terminal, i have to trim it just a little bit. and trying to fit two 8 gauge wires into one terminal i might as well just use 12 or 14 gauge because i have to trim the 8 gauge down so much its ridiculous. how bout taking either a unibit/varibit/stepbit (call it what u want), or a slightly bigger drill bit and try to make them bigger? extremely bad idea and i'm gonna end up needing to replace something because i'll break something? or be very careful and go slow and it will work? 2000 rms u would think u could fit a big ass wire …

Im planning on purchasing a single 12" SSD not sure what to get DVC1 or DVC2, i have a 08 ZX 750.1 kicker mono (2ohm stable). Now for the axcual question i listen to rap/hip hop, trance, and alternative rock and i have no clue what so ever on the enclosure that i need to use for the type of music i listen to. I have no idea on tuning ports. I would really appriciate if poeple could help me out to get what im supposed to use. Im looking to get a ported enclosure and this will be used in a Blazer(SUV). BTW how many cubic feet would be good for the sub. Im not looking into getting a humungous box in my cargo area. THNX

Before anything, how much power will a Q with BP cooling handle, if gains are set properly, no audible clipping, etc.? Okay, first off, the SSD should be louder then the Q, IN THEORY (disregard the box and everything), due to it's higher sensitivity, correct? Second, the SSD is known to be heavy on the low end bass, but a bit lacking in the higher freqs. How does the Q do? Will the Q slam as hard as the SSD? In other words, will the Q reach that ass-dragging low bass that rap music is typical of? Thanks, I'm going to ask a couple more questions based upon the answers I receive to this, so check back. -SteveSan

***FIRST*** I have a 15" fully loaded btl. the box its in is pretty big its 5 cubes. it has dual ports with sub and ports firing forward. i think the ports together is 80 sq inshes of port. the speaker is centered in the box with the ports on the ends of each side. just curious but would a box of the same size with a single port with sub in center or on the end with both firing forward be louder or the same. my video is posted on you tube and people are telling me it would be louder with a single port then dual. ***SECOND*** i am running mt btl with stock electrical alt, battery , and chitty 4 guage wire. no big 3. i have a ssl soundstorm 4000.1 mono amp. i have heard th…

Hello, i want to build a box for (2) FI Q 15s, here is the size of the area i have too work with WIDTH = 32 INCHES HEIGHT = 18 INCHES DEPTH = 29 INCHES I will be able to add height to the box if I shorten the depth for a sealed box i can use the cutout sheet that FI recommended at 2.5 c.f., i'll just build two seperate boxes then just bolt them together. now for a ported box i have no idea what volume or what to tune it to??? i listen to metal, rock, country, blues, everything inbetween, but i don't listen to rap. FI specs for a ported box is 2.8 - 4 cu. ft. and use 12-16 sq. inches of vent area per cubic ft. of volume. i would like a box that would not be too boomy, i lik…

I'm looking at building a custom box for my 2 fully loaded fi btl 15s and need some help with the dimensioning. Im looking at have a 9.5 net cubic foot box tuned to 32-34hz with a solid wall brace in the middle separating the two subs. For power im looking at either 2 rf t2500-1bds, 2 sundown audio saz 3000ds, or a autotek mean machine 4000.1. Does this seem like a good setup. Im looking at putting it into a chevy silverado ext. cab of course with all of the electrical upgrades also. Thanks for any help

I just recieved my Q12 D2 and am now shopping for an amp. I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-1bd. This amp sends 1000w X 1 @ 1ohm or 250w X 1 @ 4ohms. I can run my Q12 in series and have a 4 ohm or parallel and have a 1 ohm. If I run this parallel, one of two things will happen, I don't know which, my understanding of electronics is limited, obviously. Either each voice coil will see 1000 watts, meaning 2000w are being run through the sub or each voice coil will see 500w, meaning 1000w are being run through the sub. If I run it in series, will each voice coil see 250w, meaning the sub sees 500w or will each voice coil see 125w, meaning the sub will s…

  20. So this is how much room I would like to use, but I have more room if necessary (I need some trunk space ) My dimensions are 33x21x17 and here is a picture with how what space I would like to take up. Just post your input on if this is good or if I should add more space for the box and how much! This should be around 6.817 cubes without any displacement. (btw this picture isn't mine I just googled what an 05 equinox trunk looks like, and no those side panels do not come out) hmm for some reason the picture came out a little blurry, but I think you should get the point and for the height I can also do up to about 21 inches so if i wanted to mount the sub back i cou…

  21. Hello, I recently purchased an Fi Q 10" and have it in a .6^3ft sealed box (Before displacement). I am running it off an Alphasonik PMA1200D @ 4ohms (approx. 1200 watts) and I notice that the output seems to be really low and kind of dissapointing. It seems to get any real output the gains have to be turned very high along with the bass boost (which of course in not what you want to do). At this point I am not sure if I should try it in a ported enclosure or if something could be wrong with my amp perhaps. Has anyone else had any of these issues? Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Without going over my windows and taking the whole back up, i have 40" D x 46" W x 22" H, which is 11.8 cubes gross, will that be enough for 2 BL 18's? It says to use 5-10 cubes each, thats a wide range, i guess depending on power to them mostly. I will be running 2 saz1500d's strapped to them. I have more room than that if needed, just want to leave a little space for batteries and amps.

I just added the D1 copper coils to the SSD series. Previously the copper coils were available only in D2. The addition of the copper coils to the SSD subs adds a bit more SQ in some applications. It also allows the subs to play deeper in the same sized enclosures as the standard aluminum coiled SSDs, or have the same response curves in slightly smaller enclosures. Thanks... Scott
