I bought a fi q 12 last year. I bought it with the intention to put it in a ported box. I have a genesis, the box is wayy to big for my trunk. I kept the sub in my garage until now. im planning on making the smallest sealed box possible for the sub, which i beleive is .8 . I selected a whole bunch of options, cant remember which ones though. Are there any options on the fi website that says the sub would have to be exclusivly for ported boxes? I know they have the high qts option, for sealed boxes. Im not too good with all these subwoofer terms, lol. I just want to know if i can put the sub in a sealed box without worrying im going to mess the sub up.

Hi I need some questions answered on the x12. I need some input on what size and kind of box to put it in. I have a phoenix gold xenon 400.1 to power it and I listen to a lot of bass heavy music ( rap, chopped & screwed, etc.). I know what the website recommends but I would appreciate any input or suggestions. It will be going in a 1995 neon 2dr. Thanks!

So I finally had finished my box, got my amp and my subs came, I was just waiting for the opportunity to install I got it all hooked up and no sound... After some trouble shooting- I hooked up an old amp and speaker to make sure all my power stuff was ok and my head unit was providing signal and so my old amp and speaker worked fine... So I replaced the amp thinking that was the problem and I am still having the same issue... So either there is a problem with my two BLs, a wiring issue, or an amp settings issue... Heres the specs on my system I hope you guys can shed some light on my situation... Thanks 2 10 in FiBL 1 Ohm DVC Hifonics BXI 2608D Kenwood DNX 5120 Headunit S…

Its a daily driver, but I want it to go as loud as possible. I think Ill stay with 32hz 8 Cubes Box Design thanks to rpfuror on caraudio.com Round the ports And 45's in every corner Double Baffled Bracing Any other ideas? Will Sound Deadener(Second Skin) make that much of a difference in SPL score?

Looking for some help designing a new box for my sub. I listen to a lot of rock/metal, but I do like rap and would like to be pretty loud. Any help with sub placement, volume, what to tune it to would be great. also it is in a blazer. As of now its in a sealed box around 2.6 cube with a Hifonics 1208d and i know it has so much more potential. Thanks and if any other info is need please let me know

Hi ive been running my 15" Q in a 2.2 cubed box for over a year now with a SAZ-1000d mono amp, and its been awesome! now making the boxes isnt a problem as i designed and built my last one! but im looking for something different and maybe a bit louder without changing much and spending alot! so i thought ill port it! i looked at the cut sheet in this section for the 15 ported in here but its slightly too big at 3.8 cubes and was wondering if anyone could adjust it to maybe 3.2-3.4 cubes for me :/ being a complete noob with port sizes and stuff! max height is about 17 1/2" really! Thanks Pez! sorry for being a pain

first off i have an 18" fi q with the bp power option and a hifonics 1610d amp. its in a focus, and it will b in a 7 cubic foot box hopefully, but my question is that i want to use pvc ports instead of the normal slot port, i used the winisd program, but either im an idiot, or its really hard to use. i put in my t-s parameters for the q and then i set it to 7 cubic feet and put the tuning at 28 hz. then i changed the porting to round and put in that i wanted to use 2 4" ports. it says they need to be 9.25" each. is there nebody out there that can check that for me to make sure its correct? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

How would having an enclosure bigger than the recommended box volume affect my system. I am planning on ordering a 12" SSD w/ copper coil. I am trying to save money on this system which isn't something I'm used to since I usually go all out. I was thinking of buying an already made enclosure to cut down on costs. I'd like to know how this would affect the sub's performance. Here's the box I was looking at: http://sonicelectronix.com/item_7521_Sonic...Box-+1SA12.html Thanks!

  15. Hey, I have 2 tc 3hp motors. I know they need to be sent in to be machined to fit the 12 spoke mounting holes. I saw where you posted prices for a 3hp recone, there were prices for a 12/15/18. Can you do a 3hp 10" recone?? The motor measures 7.5 inches wide at the widest point. I'm hoping there won't be a problem with 10's. I'd like to send them this week, but waiting to see what can be done. Thanks FI.

can anybody help me with box design? i was just gonna make a box similar to the one i have in my escape for the ssd 12's but i kinda want something a little better. i listen to every type of music from bass music to jazz to rock. so the box would have to be versitile. the twelves only have copper coil option. i need help because the space is limited. i have a huge trunk but for some reason benz decided that was also a good place for the gas tank and spare. i am thinking that the port(s) should face up through the space in the rear deck that will be cutout. i have two sets of max measurements because one way the box would have to partially cover my amp and the other way it…

I saw NDMStang65s post and how he hit pretty good numbers with a single 18" BTL and a hifonics bxi2008d. I'm getting a set-up like this and I was hoping ( talking mostly to NDMStang65) If you could hook me up with a good box design to let the BTL get loud Thanks! Cody

I've built boxes for at least 15 years. But, i've never built a ported box like this. This box is gonna be 31.18 cubic ft 52 in wide x 37 in tall x 28 in deep. Trying to figure out how to fit all the subs and where to put the port. My guesstimations on the port size would be 15 in x 20 in and port length would be 8.13394050 ??????????I put the width and height in on a port calculator and it comes up with this length. What is that? I don't understand the length part. Don't even know if I can make a port hole that size with those subs in there. I was thinking of slotting the port either at top and bottom or on the sides. Sides would be better i'd have more room. I've ne…

  19. I am trying to get a box together for my to fi q 12s & I am looking at about 5 cubes net (maybe too big for the subs possibly 5 cubes gross would be better?) after port, sub, bracing displacement tuned to about 32hz powered by saz 3500v2.I am stuck on port area or it was just less than I expected I could put 2 6inch aeros in but the length is what gets me. I was using the torres box calculator 5.57 per cubic foot & that seemed kinda low to me since the specs say 12-16ft per cu ft I know thats a general rule of thumb for slot ports but still. I guess what I need is some help designing a box my max dimensions are 19" Height x 39" Length x 17" depth. This is going…

  20. i just ordered two fi btl 18s fully loaded like two days ago and have been researching all about them great subs is what ive been hearing, but im going to build my own ported box for them and have tryed using the t/s parameters listed on fi's website and i plug them in my bass box pro 6 and my winiSD and the programs basically end up saying that fi's t/s parameters are incorrect, because after ive typed in all listed parameters it says recommend internal size 5.25 cu. ft for two of the 18's i dont know whats wrong... and what do you guys think would be best box design and port design for 2 btl 18 fully loaded dual 2 ohms, 4 hifonics brz 1700.1D amps (amp per voice coil) (…

I ordered recones for Konaki motors, if you can remember, I have the thread up in the General Fi section, anyway, I was wondering what type of spiders and coils you used in the recones construction. It looked to me like 3 spiders were used and the coils were copper flatwind. Also would like to find out what you guys would estimate the power handling (rms) of the sub would be with the soft parts you sent me. They are seeing probably 1200 watts each, which I am sure they can handle fine, I do not plan on upgrading my amp EVER, but I am wondering just out of curiosity what the rms of these things would be.

  24. Hey. I am doing a 5.5 ported box in a hatch of my 1995 camaro, off of a hifonics 20006D, What Sub(s) would you recommend? I want the sub to hit the lows and be pretty loud. I was thinking a 18" BL. Tuned to 36-37. Or maybe 2 15" SSDs? Not sure if these subs will be suffocating in the box that is 5.5 without displacements.
