Hey everyone I made a similar thread some time ago, but it seems to have died and my question today is a bit different. I know it is not designed for it, but I am determined to try my Q12 in a ported box. If it doesnt sound good, I can always put it back in my sealed box. Anyway, since I do have a high QTS version, should any of the suggested box parameters be changed? Say a smaller/larger enclosure or a higher/lower tuning frequency? I should be able to go up to 2.1-2.3 cu.ft after the sub's displacement. And I was planning on tuning to 32hz as that's whats recommended. Also, would polyfill be beneficial, or not? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

After hearing a BTL for the first time yesterday i have decided that i want one, really bad. I will only be pushing 2000 watts to each sub in a daily setup (no comps). Is there any point in getting the high XMax coil, does this loosen up the suspension for better SQ. the BTL that I saw was only getting 1500 watts and didnt seem to flex much so im not sure if the high xmax coil would really do anything. Thanks, Keith

Just wondering... Does the Hixm coil has better efficiency in comparison with the standard BTL coil? What are the pros and cons when using the first in SPL /power handling/output? Is there any signifficant difference in the subs sensitivity? A few days i have watched some tests on some new quad stacked motor subs and i wondered if it would make any difference if the coils were put a little higher than they originaly ought to be put (like 4-5 windings were out of the motor top instead of putting all the coil in the magnet gap)

What is the Xmax with this option? I only see the 28mm on their website and I assume this is without this option.

Rather then stay up until 3 in the morning for firechat due to time differences i though id ask here... Need a sub for my HT. Currently I have two BL's in my car. I want something that that plays lower with more depth then the BL's. I love low lows with presence. IB is not a option in my current place. What is my options and what options should I select? is there something else I should specify? Sealed ported whatever I can build the box and consider my self a bass-head intermediate but this whole HT thing has me baffled. I know Scott has his finger in other sub companies as well, which makes me think why Fi and not any of the other companies he has a part in? I ne…

I am getting the 15" Q w/bp power but my amp is a profile ap2000 and only puts out 960 rms bridged at 4 ohms. How can I hook up another amp so that I have about 1500 rms going to the sub and also some new 6x8's that I will be putting in?

I have a 2000w amp on my fully optioned BTl and i know this sub can handle more power than that, so why is my btl's dust cap hot to the touch and "industrial smell" coming from the sub and port?

So i got my 15Qd2, and it seems to be running pretty warm. No smoke or anything, just that when i get home from banging on it a bit it feels a little hot. Just got it two weeks ago so not sure if it's still just from breaking in, which i'm thinking not, or maybe from low voltage?? It's running off of a fosgate p1000-1bd and the gain is just over half and under 3/4. My lights do dim a lot when it hits. There is a little smell, but smells more like breaking in smell, not vc burning smell, hence no smoke and when i took it out a few days ago vc still looked brand new. Basically, any thoughts on getting the sub to run cooler?? I'm thinking this could become an issue if p…

hey guys, I have a wedge box that goes behind my bench seat in my truck. its about 2.8ft3 before sub and port displacement. right now i have a 4in round port that is about 7-7.1in in length. so that puts me at about 35hz tunning wize. however i just upgraded my amp and bought a SSD. so i want to mkae sure for port is good. i will be re tunning to about 33hz so that will make my port longer. however should i upgrade to a 5in round? i dont know much about what would make a good port. i thought as long as it was tuned to the right hz it didnt matter. please offer any advise. i cant wait for the SSD to get in!

Ok so here's the deal. This is my wall design for my two 18in. fully loaded btls that will be running 3000rms a piece. I have never done a wall build before so I'm hoping i somewhat got it. EVERYTHING is double baffled 3/4in. mdf . In the 1st picture showing the front plate it looks double baffled its only supposed to be single " which i just fixed and im to lazy to take and upload another picture" due to the fact that there will be another front vanity plate to go around the curves in the car all nice and snugly. The box is , 15.7341 ft³ BEFORE DISPLACEMENT 15.2141 ft* after sub displacement displacement port is 6 inches in height width is 29.224 in…

I'm thinking about a having a box with the subs facing inside the car right behind the rear seats. I'm a bit worried though that the subs might hit the seats if it's not far enough. Any idea what would be a good distance? The subs are 12" Qs.

Hey, I'm a noobie with the whole forum thing, and a novice with the whole audio things too, but I have learned a lot since the beginning of the summer. I have a 96' ford explorer 4dr. And my current box is ~6.7cu ft tuned at 32hz. I am powering it with a PA a3000bd at the moment, and it sounds great. But I plan on buying another one soon. And my question is do you guys think that it could handle 4600 watts rms @ 1 ohm? I know that 01 tahoe on 26's lol puts over 5k with his new build, and was putting over 4k with his old system and has been slamming his BTL's since day 1. I know it wont be 4600w exactly since I still have stock batt and alt. But lets assume thats taking c…

How much power should i put on a BTL 18 if i plan on running it for fairly decent lengths of time, 15-30min, at high volume. Is 4.5kw too much for that kinda usage... It'll be in a rather tight ported box
