I own a 18" BL fully loaded on a kicker ZX1500.1. this has done me well as a DD setup for a year but now i want more. I am looking for more low end and more volume with out sacrificing much of my high end. my box is currently tuned at 44hz @ 5.4 cubic feet and i was planing to build a new box tuned to 35hz @ 7.99 cubic feet. i have the option to swap my 1500.1 with a 2500.1 plus a couple hundred and stick that behind the BL. would i blow it with this setup assuming im not an idiot with gains and the bass blow knob? my second thought was to sell my sub and box to buy a SP4 and stick that on a BC3500.1D crachendo amp. i read that this amp can run .5 stable where as my kic…

i just ordered my SP4 18 today, i thought i had a box idea but i was told it was not very good so i need some help. back seat of a dodge ram 2500, i have 30HX36WX31D max space, smaller is better but thats what i have to work with. i intend to mount it on a new tool box im installing in place of the rear seat. if i use 2 .75" MDF sheets to make 1.5" panels and build the entire box of that do i need to double up on baffle? do i need bracing? i currently have a ZX2500.1 to power it (do you think i should upgrade?). i am not sure exactly where to tune it so i planned on starting with a high tune and an extra thick bottom and then extending the port and pulling parts of ht…

Okay, so I guess the way the cooling is designed or the motor or something is causing loud air noise around the motor that is very audiable when the thing is invert mounted. There should be some kinda warning about this, as my whole install is based around the idea of an inverted driver. fml.

Hi, can anyone link me to a thread that explains the change in the ~2006 to ~2010 motor that's used for the Q? I bought a Q15 back in 2007 and the motor for my new Q12 looks much different. The old motor has a double-stacked magnet setup. The searches I've done haven't come up with any info on this change.

Im going to try and be brief.. since I'm at work. (One of the very few sites I have access to!) I used WinISD to play with output numbers. Of those, I valued port velocity::frequency ratio. And I tried to configure a flat response bandwidth while keeping my desired tuniing @ 29hz. Quick specs: 1. Its a trunk build ( 4 door camry) 2. substage amp VFL 150.1 3. Rear firing design // 15" SP4 with electrical to boot. 306A - 274A alt (Hot). 306A Peak (cold) . 178A Hot @ idle I can post more details on Port volume later, I left the last dimension of port length at home. But what your seeing is port depth 17.25, height 15.5, length is somewhere between 26.xx to 28.xx. I cant …

I bought 2 used UFO motors and they are different motors completely. The one has "cuts" in the side around the slug in the black part and the other is just smooth.plus they seem to be different sizes? I already ordered the single slug recones. Are they OK to use together

Hello. I recently ordered a Q model 12". After about a 2 month wait I finally received it. First off the packaging was damaged when it arrived, the foam on the bottom had broken and the sub was slightly sideways in the box. I ignored this because I figured the sub was probably fine, it didnt appear to be too sideways in the box. I had the sub installed today in a 1.7 cu. ft. sealed box, and I must say I am very disappointed. It literally seems as if there is almost no output coming out of the sub (running at 2 ohms on a Sundown Audio 2500, so about 1200 watts RMS amp). I understand it needs to break in, but I mean that the volume is literally almost on off it seems. Also,…

Hello, there are two Fi Q10d2 and the amplifier DC 5.0K, in 0,5 Ohms, Xs power d1200+d3400 accumulators (44Ah and 65Ah). Advise the optimum volume and the port area under this system? Palaniry to begin with 48 liters pure and port in 250 squares, tune to of 36-38 Hz and reducing to have a look at changes. The car, Ford Focus 2 a hatch-back, the purpose to receive is more than figures on music. Thanks in advance for councils and comments. I am sorry for my English))

Received my 2 fi BL 12s yesterday, I'm very satisfied with em but I believe they will get a lot louder in a different box design, I currently have a 34w x 15h x 20d "maximum size box that'll fit" with a slotted port on each side of the subs, I'm unsure on length of port its been 3 months since I built it, believe im tuned around 34hz, I'm running 2 1500's strapped "1ohm per amp" n 2 yellow tops, anyone willing to design a box that's no bigger then the dimensions above as far as tuning I'm thinkin 32hz I listen to rap music n demo with decafs any help is highly appreciated

So my q12 arrived on Wednesday to my work (where I have all shipments sent) but I was out sick for two days and I come into work this morning to find the box with a big hole in one side and looking very rough. https://plus.google.com/photos/116140861359253571917/albums/5871144803493812177 The magnet has damage all the way around the bottom edge, cracks and pieces chipped off. I have not attempted to hook it up yet and my question is should I even bother...

I want to make sure I'm not going to burn up my coil on my SSD. I bought my sub 4+ years ago (I don't remember exactly), copper coil option only. Back then they were rated at 800rms. I have it wired down to 1 ohm, so it should be receiving 1200 watts+ since I have read lots of times that Sundown amps usually do over rated power. I set my gains using an SMD DD-1. I know these are frowned upon by a lot of people as a waste of money, but I didn't buy it and just borrowed it from someone who did. It helps to set gains so there's no distortion, so I'm assuming nothing is clipping. That's just my assumption though. I set up my headunit, sub amp and mains amp all with the DD…

hey guys im new to the forum and i have a question. im thinking about ordering a dual 2ohm 15" and wiring it down. my only fear is having my amp go into protect mode. my amp goes into protect at .8 ohm. what do the sp4 15" dual 2 ohm coils actually read. are they actually dual 1.27's if their re: 1.27 Ohms/coil? even if i wired it down to .635 do you think i'd be okay after box rise? im going to build a daily driver tuned around 28-30hz 500 is a good chunk of change and it would suck if i had to wire it up http://store.ficaraudio.com/sp415/ thanks for your help guys

I am currently waiting on my q12 dual 2 to arrive, and it is going in my work van (E-150) Passenger Converted to cargo. I have a two fold question I would like it if the box were no more then 15" front to back considering the sub facing front. My current setup has the sub firing into the back of the drivers seat as this is where it is the most protected and less likely to be damaged. I wouldn't mind using the ported box cutsheet for a Q12 as shown but I would have to put legs on the "face" and set it up so it was downfiring at the floor in order be able to carry the amount of tools/cabinets I typically do. (I am a cabinet maker so I can build anything you can imagine …

so I know you guys like a lot of details with having a picture on the problem but im not to a stage with a whole lot yet. But I was wanting to do two square ports on the lower corners of my box that i'm going to be making and the thing I was curious about was how to add up the separate ports on torres. if I wanted two 8x8 squares would that be what I put in and add the total length or would you put it in as one 16x16 since that is the combined port area

I've tried searching for this, but to no avail, so here's my question: I am planning to mount an IB315 to the rear deck shelf in my car, but not in the usual drop-in fashion where you screw it in from the top. It will be mounted with the front of the woofer touching the wood baffle and screwed in from behind the woofer. (Maybe there's a term for this, but it eludes me.) What diameter should the cutout be? The specs say 14.125" for the cut inner diameter, but I assume this is when mounting it normally. I am mounting it this way to leave room for the excursion so that the woofer won't touch the speaker grille cloth. I am trying to make as many modifications to my car…

I have the system set to normal right now because i dont understand the 2 way and 3 way set ups options and what all the numbers mean. Has anyone on here made a box for any of the bl woofers on here from the box cut forum? I have never made a box before and found that cut sheet page and if it saves me $300 by not going to a car audio store to have one built I think I would give it a shot. Just looking for input on if they came out nice sound wise and all. Thanks for your time people's
