Currently I am running my 2 15" Fully loaded Fi Bl's (flatwound coil, cooling, p chamfer) off 2 1500ds. I am about to buy some 18"s. They have cooling and flatwound but no p chamfer. How different are the 2 gonna be in handling since the 18" ones dont have the p chamfer but my 15"s do.

  4. I had my box custom made and shipped to me. I asked for a 15" birch box to be made. The specs are 31.25 inches wide, 16 inches high and 19 inches deep. 3.25 inch wide port with 47.25 sq inches of port area. 3.55 cubes internally after displacements and tuned to 31.8Hz. All of these numbers appear to be within the specs posted by Nick for a BL 15....this is the only size box that will fit in my trunk. And taller, wider or deeper and it will not fit. Obviously a bit bigger would be great but is this not an efficient box? And if not, how, when it is built within the specs posted for BL 15 enclosures? Thanks.

Well I just had a box made for my 15" BTL and they kinda messed up...first they made the woofer hole facing up and the ports facing up also....do the ports facing away from cabin sound louder? Also i found out that the box is tuned to around 29hz....how will that sound?????? Will it sound good..will it be loud most also? I listen to mostly all rap just to let people know (i know rap sounds better in different boxes hz wise)...The box is around 4cuft also just to throw that out there. Help is much appreciated thank you. Here's some pics. Inside...one of the ports.

What would be good for getting the most volume out of my 10" Fi Q. I want it to go ported for some more output, and it'll be running off of a MD1D at 1 ohm (1200 rms). Thanks a bunch

  9. Hello, I need help on the port volume. I have a 15" bl with a 1500.1 kicker mono amp and Will be building a 4 cubic foot box and would like it tuned to like 35 hz. I don't understand what 12-16 square inches per cubic foot means in the recomendations. I have always used/seen cubic inches for a port valume. so if someone could "please" help me out asap that would be great. Thanks alot. Farris.

  10. ok so i just bought an 18" fi btl fully loaded dual 1ohm....i originally wanted my box to be 40"x30"x20" with a port size of 10"x18" (which would pretty much take up my whole trunk space) tuned to 35hz ....but ppl tell me thats probably too big...its goin in a lincoln navigator...can anybody PLEASE just tell me if thats ok or too big or what it is that i have to fix to make my sub hit HARD! also how should i face my sub and port? i originally thought both up, but i heard sub facing up and port facing the rear is better, is this true? ok well first off i working with a hifonics 2000 watt brutus for now...hopefully a saz3000d soon...i listen to mostly rap but pretty much e…

I'm trying to figure out the port diameter and length for a box I'm going to build, but every time I use a formula from the internet I get something that doesn't seem reasonable. The box is for a Fi SSD 15. I figured the dimensions are 25x15.5x17 which is 3.81 ft cubed. I'd like the port tuned to 33hz. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. And if you could leave the formula for future reference that would also be appreciated....thanks

  13. My sub sounds like ass in the box that I currently have it in. Waaaay too much port noise! I am only running a single sub right now, but I will have two Q's pretty soon. I am in desperate need of a box design to fit my needs, my parameters are as follows: (Max Dimensions Given) Depth - 15" Height - 16" Width - 34" I need the box tuned to about 32HZ. I would like to keep the chambers separate, as it might be a while before I buy the other sub. I would like to hear what the first sub sounds like before spending more money on another 1. All help would be appreciated. You can PM me on caraudio.com under Qbenjamin.

  14. over a year ago i purchased my 2 fi btl n2 15's fully loaded, and because i waited 4 months to get em, i didnt wanna wait to install, so i went to a local shop to have a box built and installed, it was supposed to cost around 500, but ended up being 800 when i left, a few months later i got into a small fender bender and the box fell just fell appart, i took it back for repairs and they said the could do it for 100, so i did it annnnd, nothing was really fixed except they just re positioned it, it has been un hooked after the alternator they sold me died, i and just gave up at that point. recently i have decided to rebuild and everything with the help of my uncle cause i …

Alright before i buy a 10" Bl with cooling i need to make sure i know the mounting depth... the website says 6.25" but i heard you have to leave an extra .5" for the pole vent... in this case it would be 6.75" mounting depth. is this correct?

I am in the process of building a box and am thinking of using polyfill. I just wanted to know if polyfill works the same with ported enclosures or is it purely for sealed boxes only?

ok so ive had my sub for less than a month and today i heard strange pop. so i went to take a look and it just sound like a screw was loose. so i took the sub out and it wasn't that. Then i played the sub out of the box and when i turned the volume to about 30/62 it started making the same noise. it sounds like its coming from the center of the sub. so my question is what could it be.

when people talk about tuning their ports to 33HZ and stuff is that based on the size of the port. Also could i run 2 12" SSD subs on a hifonics amp putttin out 1500RMS or should i get one that puts out 2000RMS.

Right now i currently have 2 boxes around 5.4 cubes per box @ 34 hz. I know i really could get the BL's to slam the lows alot louder if i got around 7 cubes per sub. SO with that being said im going to make 1 ported box*walled* and tryn get my max dimensions. I was going to get crazy and fiberglass all the nukes and cranny's but im really not the best with just winging it and figuring out port lengths and cubes when its not a regular rectangle. On to my question... Do you find the Sq. inches for port area before or after all the displacements. EX. I have 15 cubes to work with total 45x34.5x20 external dimensions for 2 18" BL's Do i multiply 16(rule of thumb) sq inches x 1…

Does aero style ports still fall in the recommended 12-16 CBF range? Was thinking of a single 10" in a 6cbf loud daily tuned around 32-33 range or maybe 2x7" what do you guys think?

alright so ive had my 12" bl and sundown saz 1500d in a 2 cuft box wired at 1 ohm for about a week now and its not as loud as i expected. its a great sub dont get me wrong but it really doesnt get loud unless i turn on my loudness control on my headunit to atleast low and turn my eq settings on super bass... but i thought i read somewhere that you should not do either of these things... i was checking out my box that i had custom built and the port area was only 3.5" x 4"... isnt this a little small? i thought the port area should be from 32-24 square inches since the box is 2 cuft. would this make my setup louder?
