ok so one night i was sitting around thinking up some new box ideas. i really want to have my sub facing forward into the cab of my car, and have the port be on top of the subwoofer. so i was doing some concepting and came up with this, Box idea. I just want to know if it will work. i forgot to put notes so.... notes: 1. double baffle front plate 2. round port edges 3. 2.8 ^3 feet of airspace after all displacement 4. 3/4" mdf or particle board used. its going to be firing forward with the trunk sealed from the cabin. thanks, Anton Miller

Like the title says...I'm a noob, I just like alot of bass. so i just ordered a fully loaded BTL and was wondering if someone could help me get some dimensions for a box. The box can be about 35 long and 20 wide and however tall. I obviously want it to be ported. Also, I was checking out the RE calculator..Is that accurate at all? If someone has some box dimensions for a box they built themselves for their BTL I would love to see them. Thank you

Hi everyone, I had an amp putting out 2100 watts at 1 ohm on my SP4 18" (Stereo is currently out of the car for the Canadian winter) and I had a couple questions. This is my first build with a large woofer. I set the gain on the amp using my oscilloscope when I had hooked everything up, and I think it might just be my inexperience with this amount of bass, and I don't really know what I should be listening for. The excursion of the woofer is really high and I think I just have no reference point on what should be happening (coming from two 10" woofers on my first build). I don't think it is possible to over power the woofer with this amplifier, and I'm not getting a disto…

scott or nick, or anybody else that knows i have a question. i have two 12's that i bought in germany and being the dummy that i am i dropped the box they were in and one of them completely broke the basket all the way around! the woofer is still good i was able to line it up and push down and the voicecoil isnt damaged all the surround and wires are still attached. the speaker looks like it has almost the same basket as my fi 12's is it possible to take the woofer and replace the basket so i don't have to buy new woofers yet?and if so can you guys do it? or can only certain speakers be re-attached like this?

I will soon be running a fully loaded BTL 15 in a 4 cu ft ported box. Which tuning would be better SPL wise, 45, 48, or 50 hz? I know it is a bad question because it varies, but what has been a good SPL tuning most people have been using? Thanks Dustin If it would be best to build a bigger box would a 4.5 cu ft box after displacements be a good volume for SPL? Thanks. Dustin

I'm trying to decide on a sub for my car, and design an enclosure for it. I listen to a lot of drum and bass, so due to the wide range of frequencies, I've already decided to go with a sealed enclosure, and I have a Hifonics BXi 1606D to power the sub. My original plan was to go with a 10" Q, as I figured it would be more than loud enough, even sealed. The issue I've run into, however, is that I want to mount the amp on top of the box, to keep things more compact (take up less trunk space), and to make the box and amp easily removable for autocrosses. The problem I'm having is that once I make the top of the box large enough to hold the amp (~11.25 x 14.5), and make the b…

I want to build a sub for home theater, using 2 Q15s in one sealed cabinet. What modifications can Fi make to optimize the Q15s for home use? I'll need a complete listing (including Le inductance) of the modified T/S specs for my modelling. Ideally, I would want the drivers to be optimized for a sealed cabinet volume between 4 and 7 cubic feet. Thanks.

I just down sized with my new vehicle so im thinking of running 2 15" Fi Q's sealed to help conserve trunk space. I want to keep using my T2500 but my question is will this be too much power to run these subs sealed? i plan on using an enclosure that is approximately 3^3ft per chamber. The car is a 2006 Impala SS. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanx.

Hey guys, I am new to these forums and new to Fi. What i was looking at over the past 2 weeks is that in order to power these subs, you need to require a) cash b) automotive parts c) More parts Lets just stick with b), Now i was looking at some of the earlier posts, alot of them were for the Iraggi Alternators. I myself have a 95 Honda accord. I Like it. I obviously need a new alternator if i am going to get myself 2 Fi subs. Everyone is going for the Iraggi Alternators. I myself can't find one anywheres on the internet. I checked eBay and all they have is 60amp. I am pretty sure 60 amp wont compare to a 2500w amp. So i came to the professionals, you guys, for some ad…

Hello, I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to assist me with my first enclosure build. I created an enclosure in Torres that seems to meet my needs, but I am not quite sure if there is enough port area for these subwoofers. Being a long time lurker, I know the people here are quite knowledgeable, so I figured I would throw it out there to see if it will work, or if it needs to be changed up. Here is the screenshot for what I have worked up so far in Torres: Does that seem good enough for port area? This is going in the trunk of a 2004 Toyota Corolla. The dimensions for height and width are the max that I can get away with for front firing subs. If …

I want to use the same cut outs posted on here but I want to make the box with the sub facing up and the port facing the back door on my jeep. Does anyone know how to modify the cut out given to make it this way or do I need to make a whole new design?

The 15 inch BL box recommendations are (BL 15 – Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-37Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume) Im not exactly sure what size and hz i should tune my box to. I have one 15 BL fully loaded ment for daily personal use. Any recommendations on what will give my the best bang for my buck?
