I haven't ever designed a ported box before, but I did alot of reading and sat here for a few hours and came up with a design for my enclosure. You guys wanna check and see if I did it correctly? will be using 3/4" MDF. Outer dimensions: 29.5" width 15" height 15" depth Inner dimensions: 28" width 13.5" height 13.5" depth Volume = 28 * 13.5 * 13.5 = 5103 cubic inches convert that to cu.ft 5103 / 1728 = 2.95 cu.ft before sub/port displacement Port dimensions (which I hope are correct): 2" width 13.5" height 20.53" length Port volume = 2 * 13.5 * 20.53 = 554.31 cu.in convert to cu.ft 554.31 / 1728 = .32 cu.ft so... 2.95 minus .32 minus .15 (sub displacement) = 2.48 cu.ft I…

Does any1 have a 12" Q in a sealed around 1 cubic feet? I want to know if the q will get loud in a sealed. Im thinking of replacing my 2 JL 10W7 with 1 12" Q or maybe I should just power 1 JL 10w7. The 2 w7s take up my whole trunk and i just want to get some of my trunk back. I have enough to put a Q in a sealed enclosure but have around 1.5-1.7 cubic feet for ported. My amp does around 800-900 watts at 4 ohms or 1600watts at 1 ohms so dual 2 ohms it is. Should I just keep 1 of my jl 10w7 and port it? Will that sound close to a 12 Q sealed?

i am willing to use my whole trunk if necessary...you guys think it will fit?and sound good....i already know it will look good that thing is huge haha....also ...how should i wire it?...i have a t8002 for now but i am going to upgrade real soon...i bought the dual 1...any tips?

So I got a 15" Fi Q for Christmas. Everything else that I need for my system I have as well. The only thing that is missing is a subwoofer box. Originally to save some money I was gonna build my own sealed enclosure. But after talking to some of my friends and family I decided to get a professionally made box. Here's the problem though, the only site that I've managed to find is, www.klausaudio.com. And while the site looks great and the options for customizing your box is superb, they're not taking orders right now. (Or responding to my frickin e-mails...) If I choose to invert my subwofer so that the magnet is outside of the box, shoould the box be any different than if it were mounted regularly?

I'm looking at picking up 2 SSD's (15"), the box will be roughly 7 - 7.5 cubes. I would like to find out what the optimal size for the port. Still deciding between slot and aero, might need some suggestions there. Let me know the dimensions of the port you would use for mainly SPL in a 7.5 cube box. Thanks!

I have a Fi Q12 in 2.5 cubes tuned to 32Hz. I dont like the way the box was made so im gonna make a new one with left over MDF. I have max demensions of 38 wide, 14 height, and 14 depth. i still wanna tune it to 32Hz but in a smaller enclosure like 2.1-2.25 cubes. So any plans will help. Need 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume. also what difference would there be in a smaller box?

whatup folks. i am going to run a second battery in my car i know that 0gauge is the best but can i get away with 2gauge? i already have the whole car wired with phoenix gold pos and neg 2 gauge. would hate to have to buy all new wire if i dont have too. i am only running us amps 400, and esxq404 four channel amp with soon to be ssd 12's with copper coils. im thinking this would be okay but im not sure never ran two batteries before. sorry for all these questions but i m just now realizing that as loud as my systems have been i could get more out of them since ive found forums like this to help. thanks for any help you guys can give.

can anybody help me with box design? i was just gonna make a box similar to the one i have in my escape for the ssd 12's but i kinda want something a little better. i listen to every type of music from bass music to jazz to rock. so the box would have to be versitile. the twelves only have copper coil option. i need help because the space is limited. i have a huge trunk but for some reason benz decided that was also a good place for the gas tank and spare. i am thinking that the port(s) should face up through the space in the rear deck that will be cutout. i have two sets of max measurements because one way the box would have to partially cover my amp and the other way it…

My enclosure is strangely shaped because of my spare tire, but it's 4 cubes @ 32 Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port area. My Q15 has the BP power option and I'm powering it with a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D. My headunit has 2V pre-outs and the 1000D has a 0.2v - 6v adjustable input sensitivity, so my gain is about 3/4 of the way up. I have an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, big three with 1/0, 1 group 65 Duralast Gold battery and 2 Kinetik HC1800 batteries wired in parallel with 1/0 gauge... im just wondering if it would be possible to have softparts assembled to work on a fosgate power hx2? i can take exact measurements if needed, but from what i can see so far it has a 4" dual 2 ohm coil and an 8" spider like i said though i can take better measurements of everything if you guys can help me out on this one. btw i have tried contacting RF direct and they stopped making softparts for this particular sub seeing as though its over 3 years old.] TIA chris

hi i need to rebuild a couple tc9 based eclipse subs and i was told this was a good place to look. how can i go about purchasing a recone kit or two? they are 12" subs dual 4 ohm coils. im looking for something that can hopefully handle more power than the eclipse coils thanks in advance chris

I am looking at getting some Q's and I know that 2 12's will fit in my trunk sealed but I am not sure about 15's. How big would a sealed box be for 2 15 Q's?

I am in the process of building a box and am thinking of using polyfill. I just wanted to know if polyfill works the same with ported enclosures or is it purely for sealed boxes only?

hi im a proud Fi owner and was planning on upgrading some time in the near future.. i have a BL right now and would like to upgrade to a BTL... i had a custom enclosure made just for my BL made to all Fi's specs... i was wondering would it be possible to reuse this box for a BTL?

I have 2 mtx thunder 7801d amps and was wondering if that is enough power for 1 of the Bl 18's? If yes what options should I choose for the Sub? I know I'm going to need the daily option for sure, but after that I'm lost.

I got a pair of Q15's yesterday. I put them in the box which is 3.5 cubes tuned to 28hz and they sounded different then anything else ive ever heard. As much as everyone praises the low-end ability of the Q it seemed to me that the higher notes(40-60hz) sounded louder. The low notes made a popping sound that sounded like it might be hurting the speaker. I called someone who runs the ssd series and he said he had the same problem. He told me to tune them to 32hz and it would fix it but the whole reason i wanted the Qs is to hit lows. alright so my question is what size and what would be the ideal tuning for a box in my truck. I mostly play a mix of rock and rap So what would u guys suggest would sound best i have a little over 11 cu ft but dont mind doing smaller just want would be best for my music So i guess im going for LSQ i have had no experience with 18s so any help would be apprciated

I have a mazda ext cab pickup and have about 12cu feet to work with. I really want the FI Q18's. I have never owned a pair of 18's and that's what i want. I want to kind of do what Steve Meade did in his honda and build the enclosure inside of the truck. If i can't do that this is the space i have to work with 30in high x 49in wide x 14in deep. If i built inside i think it would be a little bigger. I was wondering if I can't fit 2 of the Q's, should I just use 1 of the Bl's?
