  1. I was told by other members of this forum to email Fi about this topic, which i did, but I have not got a reply and it's been about a month since i sent the message. Any chance Fi still has recones for D4 X 12's? Or should I invest in an Ascendant Assain? Also, its just the leads. I've replaced the leads on one of my D4 X's already so i know i could do it, but i cut through the cone getting the dustcap off. Maybe I could ship the sub to Fi to get it repaired since they deal with things like this all the time? I'm just exploring my options! Since it's been so long without my sub, I am willing to repair it myself again. All I will need is four leads and a dustcap. Depe…

Hello everyone. I am receiving a 12 inch Q for Christmas which I am rather pleased about because Fi woofers are class... I was wondering what I should do about a box, the woofer is going in my bedroom instead of a car but all the reviews I have read about the Q lead me to it. It will be used entirely for music, rock, techno, a little pop, and perhaps some rap to show off a little. The room is about 8x10x8 with a chunk removed that is about a 18 inches by 3 feet for a closet, so not a terribly large room. One of my questions is the great sealed vs ported debate, which would sound better in this application. The Q will be more than plenty in a room this size either way. I…

  3. So I am trying to decide on which Fi.Q I want... Either the 10 or the 12. My plan is to build a custom sealed enclosure to sit in between the second row captains chairs in my Tahoe, and the sub will down fire. I am leaning more toward the 10 because of space constraints... the maximum size enclosure I can fit in there is 27" L X 14" W X 10" H... So would y'all recommend the 10 or 12 with that, and what cubic footage for the enclosure? Also, What amps would pair well with the Fi? I listen to some rap, but mainly mashups, EDM, and lots of rock/country (basically everything hahaha) Side question... I don't know if any of y'all have a Tahoe with the Bose upgraded sound…

Well i built a sealed box with .6cubes net, its not the output i was expecting. I plan on going to a ported enclosure. its going in a 2008 frontier and there isnt enough room to have the sub and port up. the sub will be up and the port will be toward the passenger side. 1. port to the driver or passenger side? 2. i read the sticky and it said .5 - 1.2 cubes is it .5 min and 1.2 optimal or any where in between there will work? 3. should i do a longer narrower port or a shorter but wider one? sub 10" Q amp - hifonics 1208 (1200w @ 1ohm) (yeah right lol) if i get 1000watts out of it her happy max 15" high max 11" wide max 12" deep

Ok right now I have the Q 15's and I've gotten used to them so I want to upgrade to the BL series. My question is, ok i want the same freqency response as the Q's have cause I like how they perform down low, but I need to know which options in the BL should I go with to have a good daily woofer? I was thinking of going with the cooling, flatwind, daily, and universal options because I am not looking to do any competing just some really bad street beating. But Im a little skeptical about the cooling option because it says that there is less metal in the motor thus making it a little weaker? So should I just go with p/chamfer, flatwind, daily, and universal because I dont w…

Simply as the title has stated. Scott do you have enough parts to build another X 12 for me? or a recone for my current sub? or possibly just a dustcap and some tensil so i could fix the sub myself? What would be the cost of these different things if they are even available? Thankss!

  10. Started by George,

i sent you an email regarding a technical aspect of the BTL. its regarding info on if there is a way to physically measure the gap on a btl motor to identify a SPL motor from a Daily gapped motor. i talked to Nick about this issue, but after being convinced that my btl was a daily gapped motor...i now am doubting it. i took the woofer out of the box today and the sound it makes is just so mechanical metallic sounding on music. this to me would suggest a spl gapped motor. this motor originally belonged to kenny pollock and he said the SPL and daily option were not available at the time when this motor was made. however, it does have all the other options on it (fully loade…

Whats a good port length for the BTL as a daily driver tuned around the recommended 32 hz and 14in^2 per cube? 2000rms power. Enclosure will be glassed into the side of my trunk and I have around 4600in^3 before any displacements to work with. So should be around 2cuft after. Trying to see if I can make a ported enclosure work or not. Thanks!

Before my son was born, I was running 18's and I really miss the output of that setup. So I am thinking of sending in my 12's to get re-coned as 18's, or if its not to hard, just doing the re-cone myself. Yes, I am tempted to off load the two 12"s and just get a 18' xcon or BTL, but with hardly any more power, and 1/2 the cone area, this setup should be louder theoretically. Secondly, I am not a box designer at all and I am completely lost as to what works and doesn't. This is a daily setup. I don't compete. Using RE's Calculator just as a ref, it looks like the max volume I am able to get is around 13.5 cubes before displacement. That is leaving a bit of space between…

  14. outter box dimensions are gonna be 58" deep x 46" wide x 24" high using two layers of 3/4 mdf all around (1.5" sides) gives me 28.7 cu ft before displacement assuming displacement is .26 per woofer lets call it 1 cu ft my plan is to use six 6" aero's to start with i am aiming to get at least 25 cubes net after port and sub displacement (assuming 1.5 cubes displacement for 6 6" aeros 15" long) i NEED this box to be LOUDEST at 44hz, so i'm guessing tune to around 40hz (not sure) its gonna be only for bass race and shows, i wont be driving this setup around town everyday, but i still will be playing music, mostly rap and not much in the 30-40hz range. dimensions are pretty…

So i only have like ~180 watts from the back two channels on my amp it is a JL J2 320.4. Im on a budget like mad here unfortunately and that amp was $99 not seeing anything else for that kinda money recently. So i snatched it up. I am running the front two channels on boston acoustic rallye series 5.25 co-ax, the back two channels will be bridged to a subwoofer that amp will do 60x4 at 4ohm 80x4 at 2 ohm. Ive read they are a tad bit underated so 160-180 watts is all i can expect. If i buy and X will that be enough amp sealed? I dont really think i wanna get a ported box right now. Ive not had bass for 3 years+ so im kinda starting out very slow but quality cause i …

I am running 2 FI BL 18's in about 15.5 cubes after sub and port tuned to 32hz. It sounds awesome for daily and really picks up the lows. I have about 200 square inches of port also. I did 147.3 db on TL first time, then a 152.4 on an audiocontrol meter saturday. Now, I was told I should make my box around 10 cubes after sub and port and tune to 35 or 36hz and it would probably meter better and still pick up the lows. Does this sound right or do you have any suggestions? Oh yeah, I am running 2 sundown audio saz-1500d's strapped on them now. Would it matter with a slot port or are aero's better? thanks for any help

  25. I am trying to construct a ported box for the driver’s console of a 2007 Malibu VLX wakeboard boat. I would like to install an Fi BL12 and push it with a Kicker 1000.1 amplifier in 2 ohms. The dimensions of the box I plan to build are as follows 18” wide x 18” deep x 18.5” high. I am going to use a PSP (Precison Sound Products) port tuned to 32hz. Is this box size adequate for this sub? Will this sub be ok in this environment? (ie. 100% humidity, maybe a few drops of water and a little bit of full sun). Any tips and advice would be much appreciated. I am use to building only sealed boxes, so ports are totally unfamiliar territory for me, but I’m willing to learn. T…
