  1. I'm only going to be running around 700 - 1100 watts rms to the sub when playing music. Probally no more than 10 min sessions. And the sub will probally move no more than 3/8 of an inch in excursion each way. Will I have any problems with this small amonunt of excursion?

which fi sub would sound the best in my ~7 cube box. its about 3.5 cubes before port so about 3 cubes per sub. the box is tuned to 29hz and since its the biggest possible box i was able to make that fits in and out of my trunk with ease thats all i really wanted. so i want to keep the box but by the specs of the sub which would get loudest in this prefab box.

Started on my box today for a single Fi Q 15" (still haven't ordered it yet though...). I just had to order from Fi as after reading tons of reviews and talking to a few people, I have heard nothing but great things, whether it be the great quality, customer service, and pricing. Anyway the box is sealed (thought I'd make my first build a little easier on myself...). The Q's should do well in both sealed and ported enclosures, correct? I double layered the top to make it 1.5" thick. The inside dimensions of the box are 11.75" tall x 20.5" wide x 20.5" deep. Total is 2.86ft.^3. Subtract the sub displacement from that and the grand total is 2.67ft.^3. The .7 (almost a 1" cu…

Before you tell me to look at the sticky, let me explain. I looked at the sticky and it said that the a cut list and more in depth enclosure recommendations would be available soon, and that was a long while ago. If anyone has experimented A LOT with the 18 SSD please explain it to me. How much port area, size, tuning, wattage, sub and port placement, and pictures if possible. I really would appreciate anything you can give me.

  6. i currently have a 1997 mercury mountaineer with 2 q18's. i plan on walling it off behind the second seat with 4 q 18's. heres the problem i run into...the depth from top to bottom of the center of the back is 37.5-38 inches tall. but at the very back where the hatch shuts it drops to about 30 or less inches roughly. how would i go about building a wall with the subs on the same plane and port as well. i wanted to do the port in the middle with a pair of 18's on each side. but how would i get my box in. i want to avoid the pacman style boxes if at all possible. please help thanks. i know there are others out there with their explorers which is the same thing running 4 18'…

I want to get a BL to add to my collection, but I want a Dual 4. What's the extra cost from FI to do this? Thanx in advance. P.S. Only other options I would be choosing would be: P chamfer and Cooling.

I read the recommendations for each speaker, but still have a few questions. First, I'm going to be ordering a dual 2ohm fully loaded 15BTL, Its going to be for daily with roughly 2500rms to it. My question is, is going fully loaded the right choice? Or will some of the options hurt the power handling instead of help it? For instance the universal option because of the gap size? thanks for the help

I know a guy selling a BTL motor, he said it was custom machined for 1.4 ohm coils, this sub could only be reconed to 1.4 VC's correct? And would I have to order a custum recone kit for it being it is an unstandard 1.4 VC vs the standard 2 ohm or 1 ohm vc's?

I may be getting a blown Q 18" in a trade with a gentelman over on ROE, I want to recone it down to a 15" or a 12" , probably a 15". The guy said Scott quoted him $75 for an 18" recone kit, how much is the 15" and the 12" recone kit plus a 15" or 12" basket.

  12. I was driving to San Francisco today listening to music in the car not all that loud and about 3/4 of the trip I noticed that the brakes started to respond slower. For example, I'd press down the brakes 1/3 of the way down and it won't respond until I press halfway down until the brakes even start working. By the time I arrived in the city, I popped the hood and I noticed that the wires were coming loose from the fuse holder. What's even worse was that the wire was in contact with something metal and I saw some burn marks with something black that melted as well, probably plastic. Anyways, I made it safely, but it turns out I didn't do a great job with the wiring. Althoug…

I was wondering if you guys had the specs on the btl 15" fully loaded. Specifically the displacement after the 3rd mag', mounting depth, and xmax. I ran a search but no luck. How do I calculate these specs if I want to double the front baffle board. what are they afterwards. thanks for the help in advance.

I got a baffel cut for my 12" box so I could convert it to accept my BL 10", I have a box uilt to spec for the BL only its for 2 BL's. I have not got around to ordering the 2nd (money) so I had to put it in something else until I get the second. My dual box is common chamber, so I cant run it that way without the other sub. So, I put the BL in the 2.15 cuft box powered by my 9.1, 1200 rms, its very loud and low, only, I know its not good for the sub to be in a box thats too big. I hear it will make the sub super efficient (spelling) , I am thinking to add some MDF to the box to shrink it down or run the sub at 4 ohms (450 rms) until I can get the 2nd one for the dual inst…

Ordered under Jeffrey Squier Bought the Q back in Janurary. I have been told that the spider is blown. This is my only resort of maybe getting some info on what to do to send it back to you all to be re-coned. I know that you all are a busy group, but please respond, as I have a nice paperweight on my hands.

ok, well my box broke today, so now i have even more incentive to build a new one. this time i plan on using aero ports that way i can change it out from a daily driver to spl... im not sure how big i want to build it this time, what would be the pros/cons of building a bigger box, say around 5 cubes compared to something closer to 4.

  19. Hey guys. I'm trying to finish up designing the subwoofer/amp combo for my 02 Yukon. I currently have an RE SX 15, 5.5 cubes at 33hz, on a jbl bp1200.1 My new one will be a single fully loaded BTL 18, 8 cubes, exactly 119 sq inches port area, at 33hz. It will be fed by a Hifonics Colossus (3200rms at 2). All power/ground will be 1/0 KnuKoncepts Kollosus cable (5000+ strands), Optima Yellowtop up front, Iraggi Amputator 175 idle/220 at 1400, possibly another yellowtop in the rear later on. Box will be 48Lx24.5Dx18.5Hl, with an internal dimentions of 46.5x23x17, with a 7x17" port (119sq inches port area) and 28" long. The port itself (with MDF included) will take up approxi…

I'm going to run 2-18'' BTL's each in there own box with 2500 watts to each sub. I would like to know if 6 cubes each would be good for the power that i'm running or should the box be bigger to reach full xmax? And do you have to add the ports size to the size of the box or not? I know you add the sub displacement to the box so do you add the ports to??? Want to run 2-6'' Precision Ports pre sub tuned @32hz. Does this sound like it would work? Want LOUD DEEEEEEEEEP BASS. And what is the disp. of a fully load BTL? Any help would be great.

I will soon be running a fully loaded BTL 15 in a 4 cu ft ported box. Which tuning would be better SPL wise, 45, 48, or 50 hz? I know it is a bad question because it varies, but what has been a good SPL tuning most people have been using? Thanks Dustin If it would be best to build a bigger box would a 4.5 cu ft box after displacements be a good volume for SPL? Thanks. Dustin

I just bought two 15" SSDs with the copper coil option..I will be giving them 1500 watts.. I have a '95 4-door Blazer they will be going in. My question is, what size box and tuning would be ideal for the best LSQ I can get out of this? I want the subs to be able to get LOW also.. And how much port area?> I am new to multiple sub setups.. Does each 15" need its on chamber? On another note. WOuld I get better results with the subs/port facing back towards the hatdch, or sub up, port back CRX style?

I'm too lazy to A. Look down this page a bit to see the other 8 questions asking the EXACT SAME THING. & B. Use the search function. & C. Go read the stickys at the top of the page that list recommended enclosures for all of Fi's subs. ...so I figured I'd pollute the board some more with my "problem" that really isn't a problem, and doesn't need anymore discussion. Thank you.

I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS SOMEONE I COULD PAY TO DESIGN ME A SUB ENCLOSURE? AND I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW IF HAVING 1 AMP POWER BOTH SUBS IS ANY BETTER THAN HAVING ONE AMP PER SUB (FOR EXAMPLE 2-2,000 WATT AMPS AS OPPOSED TO 1 4,000 WATT AMP? IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME OUT I WOULD APPRECIATE IT, THANKS, IM TERRIBLE AT MATH. My trunk mesurements are in the following link, I wasn't able to figure out how to post the picture. Trunk specs
