I was just wondering if it was possible to replace the push terminals on the BTL with the terminals you need a hex key to open and close, could someone also tell me what gauge wire will fit in the push terminals. I don't have it yet, I'm just asking if its possible.

I dont understand, its almost as if the system has gotten quieter... I mean If I put my hand to the window, i can feel the air pushing on it hard, but the bag just vibrates like a mother fudgeer...doesnt move... I am always looking to be loud(its why i went with an 18) and although im bumping it up to another BL, id like to suceed with 1 for now. Any advice? Bigger Box? Different tuning?

well im planning on buying a Fi Q 12" either putting the order during this week, well the thing is that i already have the box for 1 12" it is 29w x 14h x 14d making it 2.48 cuft, 2.32 after displacement of the Fi q (.16) i went to www.the12volt.com and the calculator said that if i used a 4" diameter port it would have to be 11.33" ifor a 32hz. is that right? anyone, scott? thanks

  5. Question What is the highest and lowest tuning that you all know of for the differnet series of the Fi lineup? AA would also be considered. Personally I would be most concerened with 18s and 15s I currently have 1 15" BTL dual mag in 3.8CF and tuned to 35hz Many people including myself (surprise) are really impressed by the output of this sub/enclosure combo I however have realised that (to know surprise) the cabinet is not capable of playing the lowest notes. Really needing more airspace for lower simpler tuning abilities, the box is great for "most people" and say a "rocker" type listener. Now since I myself am a rocker, Staind, Linkin Park, Korn, come to mind mo…

Hi there, after trying to build my own ported box , with certain limitations, i came to ask myself that why do we need 12-16 sq inches of port are per cufeet ? The answer was to avoid air shuffing. BUT ! If a box is 3cufeet , the good book says to use minimum of 36 sq inches(minimum) port area for it, now if we use the same sub to play in a 5 cu feet box, port area increases to 12X5 = 60sq niches (minimum) Now i am guessing that the subwoofer will not miraculously start to push more air ,and that we may have to increase the port area to avoid air shuffing. The sub should displace the same amount of air in a 3 cu feet box or 5 cu ft box. So , why not use 36 sq inches port …

  10. I know that posted t/s paremeters on ficaraudio.com are for the stock BTL with no options. would it be possible to get the t/s params for the common fully loaded BTL built for daily music? Just curious to see how it changes, and I know you guys will always say stick to recommended box design, but it would still help me to have the t/s params.

What up everyone! Newbie to this forum!!! Just want some opinions on going sealed with my Q18s. I read a couple of threads on here were some folks are running their Qs in sealed enclosures and they seem to like it. Currently mine are in a 12.3cu enclosure tuned to 30hz and I pulled a 146 @ 39hz with it. Here a link to my current build http://www.*****.com/board/ind...?showtopic=3714 Vids http://www.*****.com/board/ind...?showtopic=8473 I've got good sq now but want better and I think going with a big sealed enclosure would do it. Want you guy's opinions! Thanks!

Ok, so I'm wondering if the Q is the right choice for me now. Roughly how much power will a fully loaded Q handle? I plan on running the 1500D at 1 ohm, so I suppose around 1600W. Thanks, Trevor

Ok, since i've got the new amplifier, I was looking into the bl's a little and keep seeing all these posts about them missing out on the low end, (ie sub 35 hz). Is this true? My enclosure is tuned to 27hz at 8.18 cu ft and the Q's perform awesome in it. I want to go with the BL's because they will handle a little more power than the Q's because I'll be running a IA 40.1. How do you guys think they will perform in that enclosure tuned to those specs? If they won't handle the bottom end like the Q's, I am also looking at the AA Havocs, and I've read that they handle the low bass frequencies pretty well like he q's. Feel free to chime in with any responces. thanks

hey all i was taking some measure ments on my brother car(03neon) and i got the demensions of 36wide, 30 deep but only 16.7-17 inches high due to a seat belt thing...im looking for about 3.7-4 cubes, i know that i got more then enough but im wondering about the hight, im guessing 15 inch woofer pluss 2 pieces(top and bottom) of .75 mdf =16.5 inchs..that leaves .5 inches...you think that its enough high, and how do top firing subs sound and is there a difference, if there isnt enough hight i guess ill try that...thanks

  17. So about a year ago, I had bought the 12" Q, had a 1.8 cu ft box @32hz built, and recently just purchased the sundown audio sae-1200d v2. The Q sounds freakin amazing, but I was at a car show this weekend, and a guy with 2 12" alpine type R's ported had beaten my output, with the same wattage. I refuse to be beaten by alpine type R's... So I want more air movin through my car, and am loving what I am hearing / seeing about the BTL. I plan on getting a 15" (if she fits) dual 2, wire it to 1ohm, and temporarily keeping the amp I just bought for it. I do have electrical work to do, but that's a whole 'nother story. The max dimensions of a box in the back of my scion tC tha…

Right now I have the Pioneer 720PRS components which are pretty nice and have been reviewed very well. Have you heard them? If so how do they compare? And prices.. or local dealer to 11703? Thanks. I need help on how to fix my torn surround. Can I get a replacement from Fi and repair it myself or do I have to send it in? Is there a proven way to fix a tear in a foam surround other than shoe goo? Also, can you determine the options a sub has without tearing the speaker apart? Thanx guys.

what happens when u tune a TL box lower than the drivers Fs ? for exampl the driver in question has an Fs of 26Hz and I would like to tune @ 20Hz besides the obvious wavelength being longer.... does the driver/box not perform quite as efficiently as one with an Fs of 20Hz? btw: how do I test the Fs of a sub ? I have a DVM and tone gen available...is that enough ? thanx guys

  24. My buddy bought a Triple stacked BTL (first gen??) and I currently own the 2010? UFO style BL (without red sticker on bottom of magnet). My main point is will it be worth it to get his BTL? Im not sure how much of a difference the generations actually make but I'm assuming a newer generation BL will perform the same as an older generation BTL. Opinions? Im going basically for SPL and the box is 3.75 ft^3 @ 32 Hz. Please no flaming. Im already one hundred percent satisfied with my BL but just wondering if the BTL will give me that extra boom boom ya know. Ohh, and both the subs are fully loaded 15's and will be ran off of my RF T-1000Bd.

  25. Well my issue here is a i just picked up a fi btl n2 (came in today) and i'm going to start building the box for it soon. i recently found out to quite a bit of dissapointment, that my rockford fosgate t2500-1bdCP doesn't have a variable subsonic filter, but rather a cheesy switched one. I know i need to tune my amp 2-3 hertz below my enclsoures PTF, but what if my enclosure ends up being out of range or the amplifiers tuning controls? Crossover Controls Low-Pass (LP): 35Hz-250Hz @ 24dB/octave Butterworth Infrasonic: 12dB/octave Butterworth, -3dB @ 28Hz any insight guys?
