hey all. i want as big of a sub as possible but the only problem is that i will have only 16.5" of height in my trunk. thats means if i get a bl 15 my sub will be very close to touching the wood (height wise) in my subwoofer encloser. is it bad if the sub doesnt have a lot of clearance height wise in its encloser or does that only apply sideways in corelation to the port. just wondering if i should be ok soundwise with a tight box or will i sacrifise sound quality by doing this and just stick to getting a bl12. thx -phil

I am curious how much of a difference there is between a 2ft^3 and a 2.5ft^3 box tuned to 32hz for a 12" Q. I've read that bigger is better for ported boxes, but 2ft^3 boxes tuned to 32hz are readily available on e-bay. Would I be giving up a lot of output or response for the convenience of an easily available box, or would this be a good buy? If it matters the Q will be powered by a 1000 watt MB Quart raa1000, and going in a 93 Saturn coupe.

I am toying with the idea of putting 2 12" SSDs in a ported box. My original plan was to seal them, but I don't know what kind of output I would get. Could someone help me design a ported box for these subs? I am totally new to ported boxes so I don't know where to start. I'd like to maintain as much SQ as possible and gain as much output as possible. Dimension wise, my trunk could accomodate a box 39" across and 17" high. Depth is negotiable, depending on the size of box needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a fi q 12. I didnt choose the high qts option because i had planned for a ported box, but ported is wayy to big for my little trunk lol Would it matter if i put the sub, without the high qts, in a sealed box? If it matters, im going to put it in the smallest bOx possible I dont plan on running the sub to the max, just some extra bass for daily driving. Also, i hate rattling, so you can bet i wont run it any where near max output.

What sort of rules apply when constructing a ported enclosure. I know the basics like tuning and port dimensions. But do subs need to be spaced a certain distance appart to be effective...? Things like that! Cheers

I'm looking at picking up 2 SSD's (15"), the box will be roughly 7 - 7.5 cubes. I would like to find out what the optimal size for the port. Still deciding between slot and aero, might need some suggestions there. Let me know the dimensions of the port you would use for mainly SPL in a 7.5 cube box. Thanks!

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and I am going to put a Fi BL 18" in it. It will be powered with a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd amp and a Kinetik battery. Just ordered it yesterday I have a general idea of the specs on my box in order to fit the 5-10 cubic feet. It will be about 9 cubes by the time everything is displaced. The only problem since I am new to car audio and this is my first system is what are the dimensions of the port? The box will be W 45" x H 20" x D 20" with 3/4" MDF. I want to tune the box to 32Hz. Any help will be appreciated. -Kasey

I am having problems with my btl's. It just started recently, when i listen to music the subs start to make loud popping sounds, Instead of a flow of bass they pop. But if i play just a tone then they seem to be fine.

So I am trying to decide on which Fi.Q I want... Either the 10 or the 12. My plan is to build a custom sealed enclosure to sit in between the second row captains chairs in my Tahoe, and the sub will down fire. I am leaning more toward the 10 because of space constraints... the maximum size enclosure I can fit in there is 27" L X 14" W X 10" H... So would y'all recommend the 10 or 12 with that, and what cubic footage for the enclosure? Also, What amps would pair well with the Fi? I listen to some rap, but mainly mashups, EDM, and lots of rock/country (basically everything hahaha) Side question... I don't know if any of y'all have a Tahoe with the Bose upgraded sound…

I'm getting ready to build a box for a ssd18 copper coil. It's going to be in a 1999 yukon and I was wondering what would be the best specs and port design and placement for optimum bass response. I love the really deep bass, but don't want to lose too much sound quality( some is o.k though). Any help would definately be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody that helps me out ahead of time.

I'm in the process of buying a 15" BL within the next two weeks. i was going to pay someone to build me a box, but its going to cost +$200 and take well over 3 weeks for him to build it. so i decided to do some some research (and save some $$$$) and found two enclosure plans that fit the 15" what one should i build? the first design or this one Net volume: 3.5cuft Tuning: 33Hz Port Area: 52.5(15"Hx3.5"W) Dimensions:16.5H"X24D"x26.5W" *design stolen from ROE. Another question, Its a fully loaded 15" Bl powered by a rockford fosgate T1500-1BD the amp is rated at 1000W x 1 @ 2-Ohms RMS 1500W x 1 @ 1-Ohm RMS is it safe to wire the subwoofer at 1ohm for daily play? i know…

I have two Fi 12" old x series woofers the ones sold on the black fiday special. My question is, what is the recomended enclosure volume per speaker for a ported box? I have had them in a sealed 1 cubic foot per sub box since I bought them on black friday. Which has been ok for the time being, but I have moved to a hotter climate, and need a ported box to help cool the woofers as well as get the most spl out of the woofers.

I broke one of the terminals on my BL 10" yesterday when I was pulling it out of its box. The tinsels are fine and the sub is still working perfectly. But the terminal is moving up and down! I am thinking it is going to start vibrating once it gets moving! I dont know how Fi had it secured, I am thinking it was glued down, if so, what kind of glue should I use to reglue it?

Does anyone happen to know the magnet diameter on the older style Q10? I'm working on a new enclosure and have some very odd space constraints. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance, Mike B.
