Hello, i'm looking at getting a Fi Audio 12" SSD sub. So I was wondering if a square port of 29.25 is alright? My box is 2.1 @ 33Hz. Thats after all displacements. I haven't build a ported box before, so i'm learning how to.

My SSD15 is coming this Friday hooray! So, I'm starting to plan out my install and i was wondering which way i should face the box. I have an '09 Jeep Liberty (the newer longer boxier model). I'm not able to build a custom box or get a good one made at the moment, so i bought a box that should be within the reccomended size and tuning ranges. Things to consider: Box has port and sub on the same face. Sky slider roof - its like the ultimate sun roof without the whole roof coming off. It slides from the front to the back and bunches up accordian style, so if box is facing up it won't be facing a solid exactly. Box can fit any direction in trunk. Just lookin for some inpu…

I'm trying to figure out the port diameter and length for a box I'm going to build, but every time I use a formula from the internet I get something that doesn't seem reasonable. The box is for a Fi SSD 15. I figured the dimensions are 25x15.5x17 which is 3.81 ft cubed. I'd like the port tuned to 33hz. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. And if you could leave the formula for future reference that would also be appreciated....thanks

Hey, I'm looking to build a new box strictly for street beating. I'm looking to tune it down to 30 hz. It's going in a Mazda 6 so I don't have excessive room to work with... External dimensions of the box will be 40" wide 27" deep and 17" high (double layer on top). Sub will be facing up as well as the port. I was thinking of putting the sub in the middle of the box, closer to the back of the car, and the port closer to the front of the car facing up. What would be better for music? 3", 4", 5" or 6" port width? Any ideas guys?

Yes i read the sticky at the top of the page, but i just wanted to see what people thought. I haven't bought anything yet, but what about a hifonics bxi2006d (yeah i know its not sundown or anything), at 1ohm (1800-1900 watts im guessing?), on a bl 18 with p chamfer and flatwind? would that be enough to handle 1800 rms? I know i could turn the amp down, but i wanted some input.

Hey guys. Im about to pull the trigger on a 12" SSD. My question before I do is can I reverse mount the sub? The space is kind of tight for the setup im trying to achieve and this would be my best option. Also I have a Diamond Audio amp already on hand. It can push 800rms @ 2 ohm and 1200rms @ 1ohm. Which would be my best option.? I was thinking of getting the 12" Q if it is a better option but was hoping to go with the SSD. Im already pushing 300rms to my DLS comp. up front. from a seperate amp. Im looking for an LSQ setup. Sorry for the winded post and thousand questions. Thanks for your help......

I just ordered my 12" Fi Q (w/ bp option) and i could never be more excited for it to come. I'm upgrading from a JL Audio 13TW5, mainly for loudness issues. I have a couple questions however... 1. Will the Q be much louder than the JL? The JL is running 500watts @ 4 now off a Kenwood 9104D amp. The Q will run off the same amp for now, getting 900watts at 2ohms. I'm upgrading cause the JL is shallow, only 13mm excursion and barely moves any air... And I loveeeee SQ subs, but also want pretty loud... 2. Now before you bash on me and tell me I should have gotten a BL instead, I must state that i drive a scion tc, with an open hatch area, which is where the sub will be sittin…

My old box designed by chris fishercustoms, for daily pounder. Its 49"w x 26"h x 32.25" d with port facin back 9"w x 23.75"h tuned to 33hz. Everybody that sees it says it is way to big and should only b around 14 to 16 cubes. But fi recommends 8 to 10 cubes each. Anyway it sounded good on everything, but I took it out and tried a 4th order bandpass which was good also. Now I want want my backseat back and thought bout tryin some aero's. Any suggestions on the new box, aero's or stay with slot? Thanks

Hey, I have 2 tc 3hp motors. I know they need to be sent in to be machined to fit the 12 spoke mounting holes. I saw where you posted prices for a 3hp recone, there were prices for a 12/15/18. Can you do a 3hp 10" recone?? The motor measures 7.5 inches wide at the widest point. I'm hoping there won't be a problem with 10's. I'd like to send them this week, but waiting to see what can be done. Thanks FI.

Ok in 2007 i bought 2 fully loaded 18bls. and had them in my 95 deville. but now i have a 03 and the trunk is a little smaller. right i just have one in with a 6. 75 ft3 box tuned to 32hz. well my other one is just sitting in my room wanting to be build. Ive blown both of them but reconed one couple months ago. but i want to put both in my 03 .the max size in my trunk is 41x40x15. if i keep it at 32 hz the ft3 will be 7.55, i know many will say that would be way small for 2 18s but i already got might as well just make a new box and put it in. My question is would both of my 18s at 7.55 ft3 be louder then just one at 6.75 ft3?

Hi, i have a blown tensil lead on my X 12 and i was wondering if Fi could re cone it or replaced the bad lead. This isnt my first blown lead. Before i replaced them but in removing the dust cap i cut through my cone, so i'd rather send it off to Fi. Does Fi cut off the dust caps for this kind of work? or just recone the sub? If a re cone is needed to repair the sub, is there a recone available???? Thanks!!!

alright so i decided i'm going to build my box sometime this week. i'm having a hard time using box calculators and i don't quite trust my results for some reason. the box is going to get crammed into my 98 corolla. i made a replica box out of cardboard and the box has to be 17" heigh, 20" deep and as wide as needed. the sub is a fully loaded bl 15 and i would like the box to be 4cubic feet tuned at 30hz. can anyone please help me? -phil

I'm building a 2.5 cu. ft.box for a BL 12 right now and I'm aware of the recommended port area but I was wondering what the downside to more area(42 inches) would be. Thanks.

So, now that my friends vehicle is out of my hair, I have a quick question about mine. I listen to almost pure rap, love it. I love SPL big time, all the vibrations, shaking of the vehicle, etc. Would a 12" ported BTL be the best bet for me? It is obviously going in a car, so room is..well, eh. Or would something like a couple Q's be better in the long run? Right now, I am considering the single BTL. Now this is gonna be a stupid one for ya, which Fi sub compares to RF T1's? I have a dispute that continues now and am curious. Thanks....hope I win this fight, lol.

I have a box design in mind (i just need a car to see if it will fit or not) which has two either 15 or 18 inch (depending on available room) BTL's or BL's. I am not sure though if these subs are designed to be able to share a box together. I was originally going to run just a single BTL 18" in a 7 or 7.5 cu/ft box, but i wanted a more good looking design, so, as an example, are you able to run two BTL's in a box of volume 14-16 cu/ft? Or the equivalent volume of the BL's? I'll try to draw what i want it to look like on a CAD program or something, but i would like to know if it possible first before i start buying materials. Thanks

I'm getting ready to build a box for a ssd18 copper coil. It's going to be in a 1999 yukon and I was wondering what would be the best specs and port design and placement for optimum bass response. I love the really deep bass, but don't want to lose too much sound quality( some is o.k though). Any help would definately be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody that helps me out ahead of time.
