Okay so im going with a 12" Q with the BP option and an audioque 1200D amp. I want to port this sub around 33Hz. How big of a box should i make? I know Fi recommends anywhere from 1.8-2.5 cubic feet but what would be the best? Would it be better to go bigger than 2.5 cubic feet or should i just stay around that number? Thanks

I am curious how much of a difference there is between a 2ft^3 and a 2.5ft^3 box tuned to 32hz for a 12" Q. I've read that bigger is better for ported boxes, but 2ft^3 boxes tuned to 32hz are readily available on e-bay. Would I be giving up a lot of output or response for the convenience of an easily available box, or would this be a good buy? If it matters the Q will be powered by a 1000 watt MB Quart raa1000, and going in a 93 Saturn coupe.

I decided to back out on the whole 10 cuft. enclosure thing. I finally just realized thats tooooo big so I decided to go down a little. Now I was thinking about it being 8.5 cuft. tuned to 32.hz is that good for low and high notes or what? P.S. Sub,options,amp:18'' Fi.BL:dual 2ohm,Cooling,Flatwind coil, and daily option.its going to be hooked up to a US Amps MD1D thats 1200 rms @ 1ohm (CEA-2006 Compliant) BTW:If you need any more info just hit me up!! thank you:)

Hello, i'm looking at getting a Fi Audio 12" SSD sub. So I was wondering if a square port of 29.25 is alright? My box is 2.1 @ 33Hz. Thats after all displacements. I haven't build a ported box before, so i'm learning how to.

My old box designed by chris fishercustoms, for daily pounder. Its 49"w x 26"h x 32.25" d with port facin back 9"w x 23.75"h tuned to 33hz. Everybody that sees it says it is way to big and should only b around 14 to 16 cubes. But fi recommends 8 to 10 cubes each. Anyway it sounded good on everything, but I took it out and tried a 4th order bandpass which was good also. Now I want want my backseat back and thought bout tryin some aero's. Any suggestions on the new box, aero's or stay with slot? Thanks

After speaker displacement I have 2.46 cu ft, I need to figure the port for tuning to 32 hz (recommended by Fi) I was looking at about 28 sq in of port, how long would the port be ? Do I need more port area ? If so what would recommend ? My enclosure is 43w x 14h x 7.5d(combination of top and bottom divided x 2). Thank you for all your help.

Ok so on the 10, 15, and 18" bl the fs for both the d1 and d2 are the same, but on the 12 d1 is 35.2 and d2 is 39.8hz. I was wondering if that was a misprint or if someone knew the reason it was so different. I wanted a 12 d2 for daily but that fs seems kind of high especially when im used to the lows of my q...

So, now that my friends vehicle is out of my hair, I have a quick question about mine. I listen to almost pure rap, love it. I love SPL big time, all the vibrations, shaking of the vehicle, etc. Would a 12" ported BTL be the best bet for me? It is obviously going in a car, so room is..well, eh. Or would something like a couple Q's be better in the long run? Right now, I am considering the single BTL. Now this is gonna be a stupid one for ya, which Fi sub compares to RF T1's? I have a dispute that continues now and am curious. Thanks....hope I win this fight, lol.

Alright right now i have a FI Q12" running 1000 RMS@ 1 ohm (with knob at 10% power) thing hits harder then hell right now, in the past iv always used sealed boxes and when i got this one i got a ported to see what the hype was about I want to get a sealed again but if i do will i lose those super deep lowes or is it the sub itself that makes them. (basicly i want to know will i get the deep lowes with a sealed)

I love my Sub and plan on purchasing another one but ever since i purchased my 18" SSD back in December i sort of drifted away from the forum and keeping up to date with everything that was going on with FI. I have read different articles saying there are new lines for the BTL and i think BL but not sure on the Q and SSD. Well anyways i plan on purchasing another 18" SSD soon and my first question is, is there a new line of SSD subs and if there is my second question is, will there be a problem if an old SSD is in the same box as a new one.

I just ordered my 12" Fi Q (w/ bp option) and i could never be more excited for it to come. I'm upgrading from a JL Audio 13TW5, mainly for loudness issues. I have a couple questions however... 1. Will the Q be much louder than the JL? The JL is running 500watts @ 4 now off a Kenwood 9104D amp. The Q will run off the same amp for now, getting 900watts at 2ohms. I'm upgrading cause the JL is shallow, only 13mm excursion and barely moves any air... And I loveeeee SQ subs, but also want pretty loud... 2. Now before you bash on me and tell me I should have gotten a BL instead, I must state that i drive a scion tc, with an open hatch area, which is where the sub will be sittin…

I'm getting ready to build a box for a ssd18 copper coil. It's going to be in a 1999 yukon and I was wondering what would be the best specs and port design and placement for optimum bass response. I love the really deep bass, but don't want to lose too much sound quality( some is o.k though). Any help would definately be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody that helps me out ahead of time.

I'm trying to figure out the port diameter and length for a box I'm going to build, but every time I use a formula from the internet I get something that doesn't seem reasonable. The box is for a Fi SSD 15. I figured the dimensions are 25x15.5x17 which is 3.81 ft cubed. I'd like the port tuned to 33hz. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. And if you could leave the formula for future reference that would also be appreciated....thanks

I have a box design in mind (i just need a car to see if it will fit or not) which has two either 15 or 18 inch (depending on available room) BTL's or BL's. I am not sure though if these subs are designed to be able to share a box together. I was originally going to run just a single BTL 18" in a 7 or 7.5 cu/ft box, but i wanted a more good looking design, so, as an example, are you able to run two BTL's in a box of volume 14-16 cu/ft? Or the equivalent volume of the BL's? I'll try to draw what i want it to look like on a CAD program or something, but i would like to know if it possible first before i start buying materials. Thanks

Hey guys. Im about to pull the trigger on a 12" SSD. My question before I do is can I reverse mount the sub? The space is kind of tight for the setup im trying to achieve and this would be my best option. Also I have a Diamond Audio amp already on hand. It can push 800rms @ 2 ohm and 1200rms @ 1ohm. Which would be my best option.? I was thinking of getting the 12" Q if it is a better option but was hoping to go with the SSD. Im already pushing 300rms to my DLS comp. up front. from a seperate amp. Im looking for an LSQ setup. Sorry for the winded post and thousand questions. Thanks for your help......

Hey I'm looking to run two Loaded BL 15s. Will these hold approx. 1700 rms each? for light daily use and some compeition use as well? Also is there a tuning frequency that I can get where they will drop hard and still be loud on about 45 hz tones for comps or do I need to just build two interchangable boxes? What size would you reccomend if I'm driving a Jeep and have a lot of room. This is a crappy first thread I know but I am looking for advice direct from the Fi experts lol.

Hey guys, i am looking for a box design and was hoping one of ya could help me out. Its for 2 18" BL's powered off one rf t3000 going in a tahoe. I would like the dimensions no bigger than 28x48x22 if possible for daily driving tuned around 32hz subs up port back. I really dont trust myself designing one, but i guess thats one way to learn. Any help is appreciated.

hey all. i want as big of a sub as possible but the only problem is that i will have only 16.5" of height in my trunk. thats means if i get a bl 15 my sub will be very close to touching the wood (height wise) in my subwoofer encloser. is it bad if the sub doesnt have a lot of clearance height wise in its encloser or does that only apply sideways in corelation to the port. just wondering if i should be ok soundwise with a tight box or will i sacrifise sound quality by doing this and just stick to getting a bl12. thx -phil
