im about to switch to port tubes instead of slot ports and i was wondering if i have 2 18" fi q's how many 6" diameter ports would i need. i have the box set up into two chambers at 7.1 cubes each. i was wanting to tune the box around 31-33 hz. i didn't know if i should use 2 ports per chamber or just one and what the exact lengthe should be.....ive used most calculators and they are telling me with 1 6" port in a 7.1 cube box the length should only have to be 6 inches, which doesnt seem right b/c i was thinkin more like 15-16 inches. shoot me some info thanks

Ok guys heres the situation. I ordered a BL 15 with cooling and flat wind dual 2 ohm. I'm building a box myself and having trouble on what to do with the port. The box is planned at 3.76 ft^3 with the woofer displacement added in. Its recommended to have 12-16 sq in of port per cube so i need anywhere from 45-60 sq in of port. I want to just maybe slap a 3x6 aero port or maybe a 4x6 aero port. The 3x6 is 42 sq in and the 4x6 is 75. Both not in the range i need. Also looked on amazon and found precision ports 3 in and a 4 in round. Doesn't say the length on them tho . Reviews say there adjustable somehow. Help would be appreciated. Also wanted some recommendations on ampl…

Hi all, I'm new to the forum but been in audio for some time. I posted earlier about making the change to Fi and Sundown. Great product! This is the old system, it is 2 Gain Industries GP18DVC2 subs running off an old school Lanzar Opti 50C, stock electrical. The best part: This box will work perfectly with 2 BL 18's, space, port and all. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">

Hey, I'm looking to build a new box strictly for street beating. I'm looking to tune it down to 30 hz. It's going in a Mazda 6 so I don't have excessive room to work with... External dimensions of the box will be 40" wide 27" deep and 17" high (double layer on top). Sub will be facing up as well as the port. I was thinking of putting the sub in the middle of the box, closer to the back of the car, and the port closer to the front of the car facing up. What would be better for music? 3", 4", 5" or 6" port width? Any ideas guys?

My personal car is a 1991 Honda Prelude and I've been dreaming up ways of upgrading the system from its rather small old rockford p2 set up(old school black and red coned rockford p2s). The car is small, the trunk is even smaller, comparable to a mustang trunk. The trunk opening is much like a mustang, opens like a lid with rather small clearances. I'm thinking of putting a dual BL 12" set up in it, building the box inside the trunk to achieve hopefully around 4 square feet. The rear seats are gone, so there is an opening to the trunk, would it sound good to place the port in that opening? I know not to cover a port but I've never heard anything rather direction or place…

I want to get a a pair of Fi ssd 15's and i am building a custom sealed enclosure for them, fi suggests between 1.5 and 2.5 cu ft per woofer, does this mean that 2 feet would be the ideal? this is my first time designing my own encosure and i would like to have the optimum internal space. would a 2.5 ft^3 make them hit any deeper or will they sound better with 2ft^3 (these volumes are AFTER displacement of course) i am really going for a sq build here please do not try to talk me up to the Q,, i am sticking with ssd's with the bp power upgrade the standard coils that being said i would love to be able to hit the low note in "put on" with this setup i am not incredibly…

Ok so on the 10, 15, and 18" bl the fs for both the d1 and d2 are the same, but on the 12 d1 is 35.2 and d2 is 39.8hz. I was wondering if that was a misprint or if someone knew the reason it was so different. I wanted a 12 d2 for daily but that fs seems kind of high especially when im used to the lows of my q...

I have a excursion w/2 -18 Q's and want to know if i can tune them to 30hz instead of 28hz? and should i have the port and subs firing to the rear or facing up? all my boxes always had the port and sub on the same side.I would face them to the rear. I would face my box up and the bass cuts in half. Will this do same if i face the subs up and the port to the rear? I want to get the most that i can get out of subs and box. Any input....

Ok, I am used to building the everyday run of the mill square sealed boxes. I have a 4 door truck with the 60/40 split seat, which I will be removing the 40 section and building a box with an upward firing sub...but I am thinking of porting this one. My question is, can I run ports out of PVC that sit about 2" inside the box and run external under the other part of the seat? Trying to think of some options to possibly install a 15" BL instead of a 12. And the volume of the pvc pipe should be equivalent to the total recommended port in the BL specs correct?

so im looking to build a new box for the blow through in my truck. trying to think of some new designs to make it interesting. is there any benefit to having the subs angle towards eachother? i was thinking having them facing eachother down the center with plexi on each end so you can see the inside. thoughts?

http://imgur.com/a/lNcLR#0 i have two sets of images its this album. a 33hz tune and a 36hz tune. i intend to build the entire box minus one side (leaving it to be held on by only screws) and change out the port as i test the subs volume. once i have things set ill glue on the final side. i would greatly appreciate it if someone would check my math and offer and criticism on what i have laid out here. thank you very much.

any box builders out there wondering how much you charge for a box for 2 18 BTL FL, flared port, 13ply birch, 5-6 cu a piece shared chamber. dimensions would be 52 width x 20 depth x 25 height that would be my max dimensions give or take a few in. Another guy (Ryan Wallace aka Belunt from CAJ.com) was suppose to build me a box, but i cant get in touch with him now, and im trying to get a refund. but someone let me know something. thanks
