Hi guys, i was wondering if you can give some suggestions for a sub that my friend could use with the info i got from him... - small maybe 10" or even 8" - musical sounding sub - can go loud abit i think? - good for sealed enclosures - good for 500W only or maybe less for efficiency - max of $300 if possible i think the reason for small is he plans to put in in the corner of the trunk. behind the tail lights. and if im not mistaken, he needs it for .7 or less cubes after displacement. he was thinking of putting flat subs/slim subs but i advised him to wait, and ill try to get more suggestions for i think slims subs output would not be enough for him, but if you can sugg…

Hello all, I have a '17 Audi A3 and I recently had Best Buy install a Pioneer TS-WX1010A and it sounds great... However I have a huge issue with it. If I turn off the music or even put the volume to 0, the sub goes berserk. The guy at Best Buy has never seen that and of course has no idea what could be the problem... Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  4. Lots of info in this post, but I will bold the important bits and questions I have. Feel free to read it all but my main questions stem from box design perspectives. I can create another thread about electrical if needed so try to limit the discourse to enclosure related topics, cheers!! After much trial and error the only reasonable design choice left is to go for a slot port. I have tried and tried to fit an aero port however I have come across two problems. 1. I have to make my box far too large for my power >5 cubes net or 2. my port becomes feasibly too long to fit inside my box or outside (>28") along with airspeed issues with an 8 inch port (50 i…

  6. I bought a 10" powered under seat subwoofer from the sound storm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CY13W2/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and used an LC2i to convert the speaker signal from the rear left speaker to RCA outputs. I do not have a subwoofer stock as i have the lower trim level which doesnt incude a factory sub. I finished the setup and can barely notice the subwoofer working. The sub turns on and does work, but is extremely weak/quiet, not even as powerful as the stock rear speakers. I have tried almost everything to try and get it to work and get more bass but nothing seems to work. If someone can give me some feedback or advice that would…

i havent been able to find out a measurement on how deep a xcon 18 drops down into an enclosure. the enclosure would have the sub facing up, so i need to find out the length of the sub to help determine how tall the box would need to be. any help would be appreciated.

I am trying reach the highest decibels I can with what I have, a 2006 V8 Lincoln LS. I have done the big3 and am ordering an extra battery with isolator to replace my 2fd cap. I have 1-15" ssa icon D2 in 4^ft @32hz sub firing up and port into cabin, Hifonics gladiator 1000.1 @ 1ohm, hifonics zues 80.4, Sony GDX-GT660UP headunit. two pairs of cadence cw6kits comp in the rear, one pair of American bass 6.5 mids and a pair of silk tweeters in the front and on front sails. The only issue i'm struggling with is the bass. I know I can get more out of the sub but cant figure it out. I want to rebuild the trunk and new enclosure but trying to determine best way to do that. a…

Hey I am thinking about getting at least one sub for my car. I listen to almost everything. I am looking for something that will sound nice and not too hard hitting. I am looking more for sound quality than noise. I also would like to know what amp I should get to power it. Any help I can get will be much appreciated.

  12. Hey guys, well i am thinkin of buying a 2006 g35 coupe which has 7.8 cubic ft of trunk space and the system i have is 2x12's in a ported box. dimensions are 1.75ft x 2.75ft x 1.42ft = 6.84 cubic ft. i would have a little under a ft of space left over assuming it would fit at all. i also have to somehow fit 2 sundown amps in there as well...is this the stupidest idea ever or should i take a stab at it??????? if it all works i would have 4000watts pumping through the car.

I know I normally hate people that do this, but I need some help and time is important. So to barge into forums and throw out some questions, here goes. I'm going to buy one Fi BTL 18" sub. I am hoping to eventually get two, but that may or may not happen. I do not want to spend more than $600 to amplify the one, or two of them. I have found some pretty cheap (and at the same time nice looking) amps from sound storm laboratories, on a trusted website (sonicelectronix). The first amp has a 3400 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 2200 watt at 4 ohm power handling. (link: http://soundstormlab.com/main/620) The second amp has a 2550 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 1800 wa…

first off, thx to all who helped me. i believe ive reached a decision..for now. i have a 02 ram single cab and dont wanna sacrifice sq. therefore, i will remove my center seat in order to create more clearance and air flow to acommodate a Crystal CMPx2 12. my front stage will consist of Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS comps powered by a Zed Audio Gladius Burr Brown amp. Questions: 1)does ne1 think that a 12 is too much for my application? cause my friend insists it is and 2 8's r best for sq but i dunno bout that. 2)has ne1 used ne of these products? 3)What do ya think of this combo? thx in advance

between these three subs... which would u do? two of these infinity's? these two alpines? these two diamonds? remember, these are going into my wife's car, now going to be pushed by this hifonics amp lemme know....btw due to price (staying under $300 shipped, her budget, not mine) these are the only choices unless u know of a pair of 10's brand new, either svc 2 ohm or dvc 4 ohm that can handle 375 wrms a piece, and will ship the pair for under $300...then those are my only choices.. btw, i'm starting to go infinity(love the look), diamond, then the alpine later.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  23. Well, a midst everything else that's going on around here, subwoofer enclosure, engine replacement, four wheeler repairs (minor), and WORK, the components in my wife's van have all but completely given up the ghost. I do have to say they hung in there for WAY longer than she, I or anyone else would have ever dreamed but everything wears out eventually. They've gotten to the point where they will cut out at high volumes for a short period of time then come back on and it's any combination of the drivers that do it. Just the one tweeter, or maybe both tweeters, or maybe both mids and the tweeters keep going, or sometimes it's a tweeter and a mid on one side or the other.…

SPL Tuning In most vehicles resonant frequencies have little effect. It tends to be the general transfer function which dominates. Your best bet is to try to map this by measuring the response of a box in and out of the car on a meter. Getting 8-10 dB extra isn't easy, and without a meter it would be very difficult indeed as testing can't be done as effectively. If you can find the right note to play with the current setup (I'm assuming you're not sure of this at the moment) you can typically gain about 2dB, it can be frightening how fast it drops off from the peak value in some cases. With your current box, if possible experiment with aiming it in different directions at…
