I'm looking at putting 2 sealed 12's or 1 ported 12 in the space under rear deck in Lincoln town car. The space is available is 41"W x 10 in H x 16in D. If ported is the way to go I'm going to have to the shop to build it unless you can give me plans to do so. I hate to spend $450 on box. I can do the sealed. Is it recommended to have each sub in it's own chamber(for sealed), or can you just use the whole box for both. Just want to sound good on all types of music. (metal, rap, plain rock, ect.) Any more info needed let me know. Haven't bought amp yet so will buy accordingly. Appreciate any help. I'm open to different subs, especially if they were cheaper and sound good.…

im wanting to get the best output out of my zcon before I build a box. im going to be running it on a bc3500 @ 1 ohm. the electrical will be good. using a singer 250 and 6 yellowtops. what my question is should I go with a bigger box around 3.5-4 cubes or a slightly smaller one because of of the power around 2.5-3 cubes. both tuned in the low 30's? any input/help would be greatly appreciated

i'm having a problem positioning my tweeter since my car is equipped with pillar airbags. My only options are in the sail panel, kicks or the dash itself. With the sail panel, my only apprehension is that when i open the door, the tweeters might get wet when it rains ( by the way, comps are RE XXX6.5's so the tweeter is pretty open ) If i put it in kicks, i might damage the tweeter since it has no grills The other option is the dash, but I'm wondering if this is advisable. I was thinking of putting it in a fiberglass pod enclosure, something like this Is it generally better to make the tweeter face upward or towards me or towards my rearview mirror ? I'm using an Alpine…

  11. Hi all, I am looking for any information possible regarding a setup for my vw golf. I am looking to replace front indoor speakers and add some new ones to the rear doors (if suggested of course). I am also looking for a subwoofer to place in a box in the boot, one or two depending again on suggestions. I have no real experience with them in any way so any information is really appreciated. I have no experience of what amplifiers would be needed either or how to wire a system up. The music i am aiming my setup at will be mainly rock and metal but could quite easily include most genres, i am going for a quality of sound rather than something just to make a thud or loud nois…

Looking at changing a grand prix from a 15" L7 to two 9510-4's. The amp is a kicker 1000.1. The kicker L7 is ported and in a box I guessed to be 3cf. It is under the rear deck and does not come behind it at all. Using kickers rec. tuning I modeled it and the 2 9500's. I found that the L7 is louder but doesn't go as low. If I increase the power to the MTX's they can get just as loud . Does anyone have a thought about this? Are the 9500s a upgrade over an L7? I have never heard a L7 but will hear this install on Friday. I'm just trying to get a better idea what to expect.

  13. I am looking at either 6 06'RE Audio XXX 18's, 6 Soundstream XXX-18's, or building my own subs from scratch. What I must have: More than my current 30mm Xmax, 40mm Xmech, more than 11 for a Bl ( my subs are custom dual 4 ohm so I believe 8 layer and a touch more Bl than the single 4....as per website for s2 and s4... " Bl: 8.43 N/A | 11.8 N/A" ) A standard 3.5" p-p 1/2 roll surround will not gain any excursion. I am NOT looking to gain any output from gain in Bl and/or efficiency! So BTL/BL/Q... SMD/HAVOC/Mayhem... Maelstrom-X.. all will be ignored. I can get the Soundstream XXX's refurbed for 1/2 the cost of authorized internet RE Audio new. I may order coils, plates, …

When i hook up components and wire them to my amp, does the crossover unit that comes with them split the power between the two? my amp is 70w per channel does that mean my tweeter sees 35 and the woofer 35? Is it possible to just use all four channels for just my front stage? when the set is rated at 100w rms does that mean each piece can handle that or are the 50w each?

I have a 2.05ft box tuned to 36hz for 2 10" drivers. I had 1 sa10 in a 1ft box tuned to 35hz and it's way too peaky for my tastes - shakes the whole car on lows but has hardly any output at higher frequencies, so music sounds "uneven". I'm trying to find a sub that has a smoother frequency response and sq but still gets decent spl. I've graphed 1 of each sub below, in a 1ft box tuned to 36hz (w/ the sa10 for reference). Each is at their recommended rms. I have no idea why the Demon is so off - I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but I've triple checked all t/s numbers (if someone wants to try and graph that one for me feel free!) I'm limited to a max …

i got my 18 XXX today. it has broken tinsel leads that were semi repaired with speaker wire. though still broken. the surround is scuffed bad all the way around but the duscap is still pretty. lol. motor is still in really good condition other than a scrape on the very bottom. i tested the coils with a DMM and they both read 2.4-2.5. if i remember clearly(haven't tested my 15xxx in a while) though not 100% sure but aren't the coils supposed to be like at 1.7-1.8? so what i was thinking was what should i do?? i still have about 2ft of tinsel lead i got from fi. i was contemplating on resoldering all the leads then just sticking it to a wall socket and take a vid, but that…

hey guys, the 15" mag will be coming before i know it and i haven't got anything to power it with. i dont mind running it at 1 or 4 ohm, i'm just looking for the best means of driving it for STRICTLY daily driving. money IS a concern but doesn't have to be a very big issue. i was originally looking at either the hifonics BX1500d or BX1000d, but have now realized that for a hundred bucks more, there is better. also, The JBL 1200.1 crossed my mind but was ruled out. I am running the stock alt and am going to do the BIG 3 fairly soon. now im looking into Phoenix Gold. The tantrum T1200.1 looks nice... but its so hard to decide. i want to get a 2 channel amp for my component…

I've was looking at the SI BM to use in a behind the seat install, but they don't seem like they will be ready in time to order. I don't have much experience with shallow mount subs. Just looking for some other options for brands. I want something that will work best in a ported enclosure. Don't have an amp picked out yet, so power will be determined after sub is picked. This is for my GF's younger brother, so it doesn't have to high end. I'll be building the box to fit behind the seats of a pickup. So, not much room. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!!
