This is something I am saving up for, so semi budget minded. I currently have 2 JL Audio 12w3v3 in a sealed box about 3.6 cub with 1500 rms MA Audio amp. I want to upgrade amp and subs. Subs will help decide what amp I get, I am trying to decide between a pair of Sundown SA-12 and SSA ICON 12. I have been looking and studing both for a while but cant decide since I have heard great about both, and looking for some advice to persuade me one way or another. This will be for a daily driver setup listening to rap/rock mostly. I prefer to stay with a sealed box but a new box will be made for the new subs. If it helps this is going in a 95 Mazda B3000 xcab.

Well I purchased 2 15" ssa Icons from mark Drove all the way out from cali to arizona to pick them up... Put them in a crappy premade enclosure.. They have like 1.8 cft each if that.... more like 1.5... And lets just say they are amazing.... I can't wait to get them in a ported enclosure... They are in a 2003 pontiac vibe.. I broke my front winshield a piech of glass broke off and was stuck to my rear view mirror so theres a chunk of glass missing now were my rear view mirror is supposed to be... Anyways I'm going to be trading my car for a 64 Impala SS.. I will be most likely purchasing 2 more 15's and taking the back seats out of the impala the interior is shot anyways…

I blew the tweets on my DLS components and its time for an upgrade. I just got the H701/C701 installed recently so now I have full control of crossovers, slopes, etc... However, I can't go 3 way because of budget constraints and the constraint of me not wanting to do fiberglass work in 100*+ weather. So what I'm looking for is a killer 2 way setup with a 6.5"+ speaker and a tweet (can do large format). Initial budget is/was $300 but it is flexible. As far as prior experience I have heard TMax's CA18 and LPG tweet (I think that's it) and love the mid. So I am considering a variation of that woofer. As far as tweets I haven't been impressed by really any since my first set …

okay, that part I get, but does it have to be the SAME sub? make/model? I'm thinking of mixing RE SE 12 and JL 12w6v1's of all things. Each pair would be in their own ported enclosure, separate chamber, common box thing. Asking for trouble?

Hey guys. I noticed the prices dropped a little bit on the new TC Sounds drivers. The LMS-R 12 is now $269. Anyone here have any experience with the newer TC drivers? I know the old ones were well praised. How would the lms-r compare to an Icon? I am just always curious and noticed the price and I just started thinking.

  8. Quick little background..... I'm 19 and own a '05 4runner. I started with (3) 10" mtx's and thought that was the sh*t! Soon I learned about JL,RE,RF etc.. Soon after learning about these brands and their reputation I ordered a 13w7, but soon after purchasing that sub I was introduced to FI Audio. After watching many video's of FI making many customers satisfied I decied to ditch my W7 and order a pair of 15" BTL's. I know some what about car audio, but nearly nothing compared to some people I've seen on these fourms. Soon I will be ordering a pair of 15" BTL's, but I'm not totally sure what options I should pick for the subwoofer? I would be using the subs as a daily…

  13. I only have a 4" hole in my door and i need to find a set of mids that will clear. Does anyone know how big the diameter of the magnet+ terminal is? My rainbow mid was exactly 4" and it barely cleared and my AA poly mids didnt clear at all. Heard good things about them and want to give them a try.

hey everybody, I've narrowed down my search for 6.5" 2 way component speakers... ::Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs (60/120 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio SK6 (100/220 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio CK6 (130/280 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio TK6 (120/270 watts rms/peak each) I'm not sure of what amp i will be powering the speakers with yet. I plan on running an Fi BTL with them so I'd like something loud enough to keep up with it. What do you think would be the best choice/why... thanks! Andrew

  15. So I have been under the misconception that the main difference in build was spiders. I thought that the main difference between SPL subs and SQ subs was SPL had super tight multiple spiders, raising the Fs, raising power REQUIREMENT, where as SQ subs had 1 loose spider lowering the Fs and allowing the speaker to move easier reducing power "handling". I am now learning I am WAY off. I thought SQ subs were most efficient, and SPL subs were super inefficient power hungry beasts wasting power. So now I am hearing that... let's go with the Fi lineup for comparison: I see the BTL on 1 end of the spectrum has the largest permenant magnet, a solid pole piece...no pole vent. I b…

hi everyone, i want to upgrade my current subs into something with more SPL, and SQ if possible OVERVIEW: -2 12" pioneer ts-W308D4 rated 400 wrms per-sub -Hifonics BXI-1210D, 1 ohm load to subs, so subs are seeing 1200 wrms, 600 wrms per sub -both subs are in a ported box that looks like this Dual ported sub box so which set of subs should i get that can actually take 600 wrms per sub? Starting from budget subs to higher grade? if i bought 2 kicker 08 CVR 15" to use for my amp, would my setup be louder and deeper than my 2 12"s? thanks for the feedback everyone

  20. Its taken a while but ive finally gone and bought the T20001BD and i got to say it really looks the part!! Now im trying to work out which subs are as hot as this amp looks. I was really interested in getting a Fi mainly because ive heard so much about them on here and watching all the insane vids u all put out. They really blow u away! But lately ive been looking at alot of other brands. (There is so many to choose from) So im asking u all what subs are hot out there at the moment. Im looking for a 12" or 2 12"'s maybe i dont mind (Im only in a lil renault clio and thats all im gonna fit) Or that u have found crap and to avoid the ones u had. Any comments will really be…

  21. and it was like a driver that you could attach to a subwoofer box that was an alternative to porting or sealing a box. I belive it was called an Independant Radiator Driver or something to that nature. It looked like a regular speaker... had a cone and surround and what not but had no motor and i dont belive it had magnets either. So my question is... a.) if anyone knows what the hell im talking about b.) if so have they heard them in action

So, this is my current setup. . . http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v448/pheaturez/truck/?action=view&current=100_02991.jpg I have the opportunity to sell my sub/box for 400.00. My question is simply this. Is going from an RE SX to an MJ18 a downgrade?????? I have no complaints with the SX. Honestly, the sub sounds beautiful and it gets loud. Is built really well and handles every bit of power I have going to it (RE 12.1) When comparing the subs, visibly it seems as if its a backwards step. I have nothing against stamped baskets and plain cosmetics because I am a function over looks kind of guy. . . All i want is for it to perform. But when you see them side by si…

As the topic states: Are there plans for making grills for the D2, or do you have any recommendations on what to get? I really need one so I can keep stupid bastards from touching the driver when booming or piercing it with something. Slapped one that touched it once... He'll never do it again, hehehe
