I have 2 15" Xcons with a Sundown 3000 with a 1400kinetik in the back. So I let my little brother take the car out to get some food, and he comes back and says, "Your bass is not on...". He knows better than to abuse my system so I go take a look. Seems like he took a sharp turn because the power wire was just barely in. So I decided to clean up the look of the wires and replaced the speaker wire making it shorter, and reconnecting the power wire. I then went for a spin and everything was sound great again... Then all of a sudden I begin to smell something unusual, I have pushed subs before and know the normal smell but there was a different smell, so I turned down my st…

Hi guys, I am considering doing an upgrade on my factory speakers. I have a Toyota Yaris Hatchback with a current setup of stock head unit, stock speakers, and a pioneer bass tube (The Pump TS-WX20LPA). I am not into SPL, rather a solid SQ which at least I can impress my friends with and which I can enjoy listening of course. I live in a small country and the choice of brands is rather limited and few shops let you listen to the speakers before actual installation. So I'm counting on you guys to help me in making a good choice Right now on top of my list are the Focal Access 165A or the Kicker KS. I also went to a shop which supplies Hertz (I heard they also make good c…

While im savin up money im still exploring my options and for abt the same price i was i could go these two directions..... -2 re se 12s getting 600 watts a piece (dunno which amp yet) with 1.0 cubes a piece before displacement OR -a single 12" magnum d2 in a 2.65^3 box before displacements tuned to 28hz using two 4"x40.5" aero ports powered by a jl 500/1 now, I was just wondering you guys' overall opinion btwn the two any and all comments/suggestions/help would be appreciated! I haven't bought this sub yet but, i do plan on buying a 15" mag and plan on having a JL 500/1 feeding it. I really don't want to go over $1,000 and still have a bad ass system. I might even save up for the JL 1000/1 but its a bit more than i want to spend. I am shooting for SQ and still want low's. I'm guessing 3^3 seal box will have slightly better lows than 2.5^3? This install is going into a Crown Victoria 89'. So i got plenty of trunk space to deal with. Also curious how loud this speaker would get with just a JL 500/1 feeding it instead of having a JL 1000/1.

alright, i am currently putting together a system in my 99' Mits galant. I am planning on hooking up 2 15" rl-ps hookeed up to a hifonics bx2200d (1800-1900rms). They will be in a sealed enclosure recieving around 1.7 cubes each. They are reccomended up to 2.5 i belive and was wondering what kind of difference i should expect by giving them less air. Of course polyfil will be used to compensate this. I have plenty room in my trunk its just that the opening is so damn awkward i cant fit anymore then this. I was originally oging to get a 15"XXX in a snailshell but could not fit the box, then i was going to get a 12"xxx in a snailshell but said screw ported 2 15" sealed woul…

So I am struggling on choosing a tweeter that's going to fit my head units power capabilities, and if the ohm load that the tweeter is will majorly affect my vehicles audio performance. My favorite tweeter that I am looking at is 8 ohms, and RMS's at 50 watts with a 1300-20000 frequency range, but will this tweeter perform fully off my deck if its asking for 50 watts at 8 ohms? another tweeter RMS's at 15 ohms, but has a 4 ohm impedance with a 3500-25000 frequency range....would i be better off with this because it more matches the RMS wattage of my head unit? lastly, I found another tweeter that surpasses all others in that it is 4 ohms, but requires 100 watts RMS....wou…

So I was getting ready and doing some research about my new truck before I bought speakers and I found an interesting fact........ I have a new 2014 F150 and it has rear speakers, door speakers and tweeters. Door speakers get the full channel, tweeters also get the full channel with a capacitor or resistor to cancel the low frequencies. There is no factory cross - over. I am not going to amp this set of speakers because I am concerened about my hearing listening to loud music all the time. Anyways so all I was going to do was replace the door speaker with a coax speaker and replace the tweeter with just a better one. Will I get too much high range with a coax speaker …

Im about to be getting my car and my system is going in ASAP. I know I want a D2, but I cant decide which size. I would like to have a 15 since it gets louder and lower and I mostly listen to rap music, but will the 4.5 cu ft box fit in my trunk ok? I am getting a 1990 BMW 325is so it has a decent sized trunk, but how big is it gonna be really? Anyone have any pics of that sized box? Also, do you think I REALLY need the 15? I plan on running 1100 watts to the sub. This will be my first system so I really don't know a whole lot about the actually sound of things, just word of mouth. Yes, I know I will have to wait on a 15, but if it will work better for me thats no big dea…

BB the price range i would like to keep it all under 400 but willing to go a little bit higher maybe 500 even... im more sq oriented i love detail... i listen to mainly rock/ acoustics... but generally anything... i like strong detailed midbass and more of a mellow tweeter... this is going to be my first real DIY setup... im pretty much looking for a well rounded set that can handle all types of music... any suggestions would be helpful, ill probably browse madisound and list items that look good its going into a 2000 Acura Integra, im not sure of the mounting depth in the doors bu…

Ok so im thinking about cuting holes in my door panel for my 6.5s Apline type R's So i can show the grills instead of leavingthem in the factory spot (08 Pont G6) . i plan on using a hole saw, would there be a better tool for that instead? and if i do that then i think the sound and performance of them will og down without some type of addend or extra install to go with them, especially with that small space between the door panel and the factory location, what could i do to ensure the SQ of them and performance? sound deadening maybe? or what could i put to fill that gap and etc.

I am sure it has been asked before, but I am looking for some real experiences with midbass drivers. I snagged a set of Rainbow Pro components (4" and tweet) cheap and am looking for something to give the midbass some foundation. I have used MB Quart exclusively for about 17 years and just switched to Focal about a year ago. i am interested in RE, DD, Seas Lotus, or anything in that range. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Kevin Oh yeah, they will be mounting in the doors of my truck (see sig) along with the 4's and the tweets in the pillars.

I have the MOJOs right now ran by a Hifonics Brutus 2100.d. Now i know thats not enough for them but in general with a custom box and either same amp or a saz-1500, could i get a little louder with the sundown SA-12s since ill actually be putting enough power to them? Also this would be in a 2000 ford explorer, so if anyone has witnessed a similar setup with 2 sa-12s in a explorer it would be great if you give feedback. thanks

I need a little advice. I recently sold a sub on Craigslist. Icon 12 D2. It has literally sat in my garage for over a year. When I tested the coils back in May of 2014 I got a solid 1.8 on each side. I haven't played the sub once since. The new owner tested the coils at 2.4. When wired at 1ohm he's getting 1.8. Can anyone help US understand what's going on? Is it something to worry about? Can a sub sitting do this to the coils?

So about a month ago I received my new icon. And a recone for my old icon. I plan on going from a single 12 to 2 12s in the process of building an enclosure. Anyhow.. so I did the recone. Dropped it in the Box ran it for about a week to break it in. And it sounds fantastic.. Heaven ran it hard yet. Probably never fed it more than 700 clean unclipped Watts (if that) anyhow it sounds great. So I pulled it out and dropped in the new icon. Breaking it in just like the recone. Sounded great then yesterday I started noticing a "slight" buzzing/scratching sound at a certain bass note at high and low volumes. A specific song would come on, and would have that bass note and I cou…

I am in the process of selling all of my audio equipment to start off with something new. I don't change systems like I change clothes, I kept my last setup for about 2 years. The question I currently have is this.... Which setup would have more output potential on the meter... assuming I have the optimal sized box and optimal power for both set ups 1.) 12 Very low strength subs... let's just say 12 inch subs 300 watts a piece 2.) 2-4 Very high motor strength subs... let's just say 4 18 inch subs 3000 watts a piece I've never used a sub that required less than a thousand watts, and have little experience with low power small subs. Thanks!

First off this thing looks so much nicer in person than the website pics. it also has a ton of clearance for excursion, hopefully the pics show it. here are some box specs for those interested.... 10" .3ft has F3 of 42hz, .5ft has f3 of 35hz, .75 has f3 of 32hz and 1ft has f3 of 30hz. 12" .5ft has f3 of 45hz, .75ft has f3 of 38hz, 1.0 has f3 of 35hz, and 1.5ft has f3 of 31hz. some bandpass designs are included but once again in the manual it states that this sub is not for traditional ported boxes. Overall i'm very impressed with the build quality and i've grown to love the look of it. Hope to have a review up soon.

I just got this e-mail from john after over a year over not selling they are finally available Hello, You had requested to be put on the list to be notified once our AV woofers were in stock again. We finally have these available. Due to a mismatch at the plate shop you can now get AV woofers at a special price for a limited time. The T-yokes have a clear zinc plating and top plates have a yellow zing. This makes absolutely no difference for anything other than cosmetics. They still come with the same 3 yr warranty, parameters are identical, and they will function the same as with the matched plating. Frames are not black instead of the previous silver. The re…
