Subwoofers / Speakers

Would a US AMPS MD1D (underrated 1200w @ 1 ohm) be to big for one IXL 10.2.2? Will be putting it in a ported box not sure what size yet so any recommendations would help. Thanks

What I have right now.... 2 Sundown E-12s (400rms version) Hooked up to a 1700.1 Hifonics Amplifier at 1 ohm. Inside of a custom box made for the Ford Mustang Convertible, .9 each sub, sealed. Well, isnt that too much power? yes it is! So obviously the gain is way down. My question, Would I benefit from switching the subwoofers to something that can handle more power? The problem: If I do get new subwoofers, the mounting depth can be NO MORE than 6.5 inches.

I need a class D amp for my mag15 (since I can't find a PPI PC2350). I am looking for 1000-1500 watts at either 1ohm or 4ohms. I have a PG Tantrum 1200.1 but it sucks my elec system dry and I want to get a Class D amp to help out on my elec system some. I bought it as a hybrid 15 xbl2 sub a few years ago. It was described as smilar to a brahma mk1.5, But it dosnt look anything like most of the brahma motors ive seen. Im thinking about having it reconed to an 18". Got a phoenix gold titanium 1000.2 and wondering what i should get a 15 bl daily driver @ 1 ohm or a 15 Q? itll be in a 93 civic in a 32 cu.

Not sure if this has been asked before. But I have been considering going with a 15" mag. I know ported is louder. I am just wondering how much or if you loosing power handling going ported. I know that different size sealed boxes do change your power handling. Smaller boxes will require more power do to the compression the speaker is under when it pulls back for a bass hit. Also thinking about going with 34hz tune if I do go ported. What amp would guys recommend for a setup like that and i dont plan on going to a bass comp. But wouldn't mind having the power to show off once in a while.

What are these worth anymore gentlemen? These are mine that came with the truck I bought.. the model99 zed amps above have already been sold... trying to sell the subs now.

I just picked up a BNIB D.7 9518Z from a friend of mine. I am going back and forth between doing a normal ported enclosure or a 4th order bandpass. I have about 6-7 cubes net to work with. Its going in the back of my PT Cruiser on two Sundown SAZ-2000's at .7ohm each. So 4500+rms, but less obviously for daily. What do y'all think?

i was lookin for a new woofer to use for an occasional comp but omstly jus the loudest system around. 1 15" woofer will be runnin it off of a Hifonics 1800D amp. I am about to have $500 dollars for a new front stage and I need some ideas here. My focal 165A's are ok but I need something with more midbass and isn't so harsh at high volumes. So what would you guys suggest for a new front stage with 500 to spend. I guess they don't have to be comps, I might do 8's with some tweets and x-over. I'm kind of skeptical on doing 8's in the doors b/c I don't have the experience to do a good install like req or others. I could give it a shot I suppose but I would like to hear component setups first.

planning on running 2 of these. are they able to handle upwards of 1200-1400W?? i know they are rated at 500 rms each.

I'm currently tinkering with ideas for my front stage. I'm looking for a particular sound and I'm not sure how to describe it but here it goes.... I have a set of Grado Sr80i Headphones (which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves music) and they have lots of....shimmer? on the high end. I want that sound for my car. I want the higher midrange to be pronounced, I want to hear the details (such as the rasp in men's voices) and I want it to be pretty loud. I have a cheap bookshelf setup in my room and it has Piezo horns in it that have the sound (as far as highs) that I'm looking for. The best I can describe it is airy, or wispy? A very exciting sound. I have the MOJOs right now ran by a Hifonics Brutus 2100.d. Now i know thats not enough for them but in general with a custom box and either same amp or a saz-1500, could i get a little louder with the sundown SA-12s since ill actually be putting enough power to them? Also this would be in a 2000 ford explorer, so if anyone has witnessed a similar setup with 2 sa-12s in a explorer it would be great if you give feedback. thanks

So I an installing four I hope anyways E8's but magnet diameter and true mounting depth matter. I am putting these under the rear seat of a 2011 Titan king cab and am in the process of building the box the max. At this point I am actually settling on the E series due to the fact that the SA r so damn big. Now if these subs magnets are in fact to large what would be a viable 8 to use in the truck. Power wise right now is a Lil wonder 3 that says it makes 2600 at 1 ohm. But, I might also be looking at other options for amplification. Hello everyone I've had the zcons for a few weeks now I got 2 18" zcons on a sundown 5000d my build log is in the build log forum if your interested but the zcons are pretty great so far I plan to mess with the amp a little today I haven't had much time to lately but as of right now these things are crazy loud but they are slightly peaky but that might be more to do with the box design than the subs here is a status I seen the other day after I gave some friends a demo

I had a pair of infinity reference 12's I picked up for $50 about six months ago. The guy from the local car audio shop wanted to trade me for his old school 15 inch Cerwin Vega Stroker. I've owned one of these in the past and could never get over how freakin loud they get with so little power.

I fried the tinsels on my 2005 RE XXX 12D2. I don't know where to get a re-cone or what to do with it. I was going to get 2 BTL 15's and put them in a trunk on 5000W or whatever I could afford, I don't want to buy over 1 extra battery. Can you re-cone a 12 to an 18? Would an 18 on 1500-2000 W ported (through the seat) be plenty? It would save hella on everything, I bought it for $350 and used it for a year in a 1.7 cf3 box @ 37hz, it didn't drop but it had rich and neutral sound. I don't like the tinsels being exposed, they should have sewn them into the voice coil. Can they handle 2000W? 2500? 3000? My plan was to have atleast 3000W, and more cone area than 2 12's.

I have one JL 10w6v3 dvc 4 ohm and two JL 10w3v3 svc 4 ohm and I'm looking for a 1 ohm load if possible. Any ideas and/or things I should consider? Just FYI, the 10w6d4 is in its own H.O. enclosure and the 2 10w3v3 svc 4 ohm are in their own dual enclosure. Thanks in advance
