Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. I'm driving to work, all of a sudden NO bass.Well I get to work, pop the trunk and see the sub sitting upright next to box.The driver came loose from the box,I could not believe my eyes.Later that evening when I got home I screwed the sub back onto the box, turned the system on,went back to trunk, all I hear is rattling.Man I'm so pissed, anyways I emailed Nick to find out how much it would cost to fix, lets see what happens.Man I love that sub and just got the Brutus for it too, just had to let it out, thanx for listening !

I've been doing a lot of reading and searching and I was hoping I could get some additional help. Is there a classification chart as to which SSA subs are deemed "sq" or "spl"? Is it simply the way that they are installed that makes them better geared towards one type of sound? Also, with the greater power handling subs is the "type of sound" the same or as power increases so does deepness, loudness, etc? For example: Dcon - low power sq sub Gcon - mix of sq/spl at medium power Icon - higher powered sq sub Xcon - ultimate high power sq sub Zcon - balls out, no frills spl sub I know my review and thoughts maybe a bit elementary but please feel free to chime in and corr…

Hello, I've been planning an in-car IB set up for about 3 months now, I finally ordered and received a Fi IB3 18 a little while back. It's going to be hard to get an 18.5" diameter in a trunk opening to the cabin... but I'm creative. I need a bunch of pics and vids for some inspiration and some ideas... please help! Thanks in advance. Krypto

Is 2.5 cu ft too big for a 12" RE Audio SR subwoofer? RE recommends 1.5 cu ft tuned to 35 hz. I have it in a 1.7 cu ft ported box tuned to 30 hz and it doesnt move like its suppose to. I have 400 watts RMS on it. Getting another amplifier is out of the question. I want my sub to be more efficient and have a more extended lower end. I just dont want it to sound bad (or get "boomy"). Thanks

I got a Memphis M3 10 (2008) and its def. blown but it still barely vibrates and makes the faintest bass when I turn it up. What does that mean? I already ordered a recone so I was just wondering if it would be possible to fix? The coil looks fine and both terminals still have the correct resistance. Tinsel looked okay but I didnt really look that good due to it being a bulky 10 so its hard to see anything. Anybody know what it might be and how to fix it?

  10. Hello guys new here and I am looking to replace my JL 12W7 with a 15" Mag. I am running the 12W7 with a JL 1000/1 in a tuned enclosure(custom build to 32Hz). I am looking to increase SPL and by moving to a larger sub(Mag) using the same 1000wrms. I am pretty sure this Mag will outperform my 12w7 what do you guys think? Could you guys reccomend optimum enclosure sizes for my Dodge Magnum. I am looking to maintain SQ as the 12w7 did a good job in that sence. I am willing to give up as much room as needed in the trunk for the enclosure. I will take the reccomended specs to a pro box builder for fabrication. all input is greatly appreciated. D

Currently I have the Alpine Type R SPR-135 5.25" component set, the older model. They are on my Rockford P500-2. They keep up fine with my 18" on most songs, but do fall behind on bass crazy songs. So I was thinking of upgrading to better speakers, as I want more SQ, but still need to be able to keep up with my single SSD 18" on a SAX-1200D SPL wise. I was looking at some pro audio speakers on parts express. I notice there's a lot of setups were people run the 6" selenium woofers along with the ST350 super tweeter. Are these a better setup for SQ than what I have or are they purely SPL speakers ? If I went with those as my mains it would require some fabrication. …

I have 2 15" Xcons with a Sundown 3000 with a 1400kinetik in the back. So I let my little brother take the car out to get some food, and he comes back and says, "Your bass is not on...". He knows better than to abuse my system so I go take a look. Seems like he took a sharp turn because the power wire was just barely in. So I decided to clean up the look of the wires and replaced the speaker wire making it shorter, and reconnecting the power wire. I then went for a spin and everything was sound great again... Then all of a sudden I begin to smell something unusual, I have pushed subs before and know the normal smell but there was a different smell, so I turned down my st…

So I have a 2007 crew cab silverado which is limited to what I can put under the seat Would you guys go with 3 8" SA-8s or 1 12" Fi BL with all upgrades in a ported box? I listen to rock, country and some alternative. I like hard hitting bass with the ability to get a deep rumble I see the SA-8s have a pretty good xmax compared to most 8s so will this allow it to hit deeper than most other 8s? Need to know today because of the sale going on on the SA-8s

A single 12 setup would be the best option spacewise in my trunk and help me achieve the goal of LSQ....lol. I found a box that fits the criteria within the recommended specs for each woofer http://cgi.ebay.com/12-RE-AUDIO-SE-ENCLOSU...1QQcmdZViewItem the box is 2 cu. ft. tuned to 32 hz.... which is within the recommended enclosures for each woofer as i have previously stated. Yes this box is in essence prefab...but its properly built. I dont feel like building a box myself...someone can build me one for cheaper than i can get this one w/ shipping. Here are the contenders... SSA Icon 12 $249.00 Fi SSD 12 $189.00 RE Audio SE 12 $172.49 AA Arsenal …

I have 1-15" ssa icon D2 in 4^ft @32hz sub firing up and port into cabin, Hifonics gladiator 1000.1 @ 1ohm, hifonics zues 80.4, Sony GDX-GT660UP headunit. two pairs of cadence cw6kits comp in the rear, one pair of American bass 6.5 mids and a pair of silk tweeters in the front and on front sails. The only issue i'm struggling with is the bass. I know I can get more out of the sub but cant figure it out. 21. I've narrowed my choices down to a few options and since this is a slow process I've had the luxury of changing my mind a dozen times. In the back of my Focus hatcback I'm planning a single 15 on what will most likely be a 3500-4000 watt Crescendo, Autotek (old school), Ampere, etc and it'll be in what is most likely a 3.7ish net tuned to mid/high 30s. Mostly rock and some rap for daily listening and decaf for demo. So there are a few subs that seem to fit my application but it's a tough call. Maybe all would be great but who knows. I know the SSA Evil will come highly recommended but the DC Lvl5 and AA Team are right there in terms of capability. Is the SSA being bu…

hey everybody, I've narrowed down my search for 6.5" 2 way component speakers... ::Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs (60/120 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio SK6 (100/220 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio CK6 (130/280 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio TK6 (120/270 watts rms/peak each) I'm not sure of what amp i will be powering the speakers with yet. I plan on running an Fi BTL with them so I'd like something loud enough to keep up with it. What do you think would be the best choice/why... thanks! Andrew

(I'm going to apologize in advance for run-on sentences and grammatical errors). First off, only been on ssa for a few days now but am overwhelmed at the wealth of information here. This will be my first system and will be going into a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Only installed upgrade has been a pioneer deh p690 headunit, this was done by a local car audio store. I listen mostly to rap/hip-hop and classic rock, bud i'd say 75% rap on a daily basis. I purchased a set of 6.5' focal polyglass v2 components and polk db651s for rear fill ($400 for the focals, $50 for the polk at tweeter, still bnib in my bedroom). Anyway, in the process of amp shopping i almost put …
