I have been doing tons of searching here and on other forums as I try to figure out exactly what I want to go into my next build. My question here is on subs. I have it narrowed down to three choices(til someone decides to throw something else into the mix). Diamond Audio D6, Fi Q, and SSA ICON. I will be using 2 15" drivers in an ex cab ranger. Most likely sealed at about 5 cubes. They will be seeing 1800rms from a T1500-1BD. I like it loud and clear. Tight and accurate all the way down to 40hz and lower. I like flat response, not too crazy peaky(except some hip-hop). I listen to anything, mostly rock though. I am looking to see if anyone can compare the Diamonds to the…

Quick little background..... I'm 19 and own a '05 4runner. I started with (3) 10" mtx's and thought that was the sh*t! Soon I learned about JL,RE,RF etc.. Soon after learning about these brands and their reputation I ordered a 13w7, but soon after purchasing that sub I was introduced to FI Audio. After watching many video's of FI making many customers satisfied I decied to ditch my W7 and order a pair of 15" BTL's. I know some what about car audio, but nearly nothing compared to some people I've seen on these fourms. Soon I will be ordering a pair of 15" BTL's, but I'm not totally sure what options I should pick for the subwoofer? I would be using the subs as a daily…

Well i got my system together ( needs some minor adjustments here and there). Running a jvc KD-avx77 to my kicker zx750.1 amp, and to my Fi SSD12 with copper coil option. I wired it in parallel but then my amp went into protection mode and i didnt even really turn up the gain much. Should I wire it in series? My sub has the DVC option

my friend and i made a ported box with 2 separate chambers ... 1 chamber for each sub ... each has its own portl .... for some reason in one of the chambers a flapping noise is coming out of the port ... the other sub seems fine and no flap is coming out ... each sub is wired independently as well ... we took the sub out and vacuumed the chamber and the noise is still there ... what could this be? ... is it possible that there is something wrong with the sub causing it to flap? .... the noise fluctuates with the frequency ... ex lower frequency will create a harder slower flap

Hi all, just trying to get to grips with all of this series and paralel wiring stuff. I am looking at buying a set of 4 100W continuous load speakers for my car (at the standard 4ohm). I understand now that if you wire these in a parelel circuit you will be able to use a 2ohm load for them. The amplifier i'm looking at says it powers 2x95w at 2 ohms. So if i wire 2 speakers up to one connection on the amp will it power both speakers at 95w or send 95w to split between the speakers. I dont know if i need a 2x200w at 2ohms or if this amp is perfectly capable. Just so it helps explain the parts im looking at, i'll provide links to them to see if anyone can tell me if im goin…

so i was looking at onlinecarstereo and i have always wanted to try some Kappa's, perferably Kappa Perfects, but i can't afford that at all right now, i just need to upgrade what i have, which is garbage. i just bought a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the chick before me had a "system" in it. my coworker that knew her said it was a pair of some MTX's, he thinks 9500's. (she was some little druggie/dealer and was all drug money rich) anyways she completely blew the car stock speakers (some Infinity Gold speakers). before blown i'm sure they woulda been sweet. and i coulda tuned it fine. but they are blown to hell and i need new ones. basically, what do you recommend, i have aro…

Just ordered my IA 187 12'' I was wondering if anyone can look over my numbers here to be sure that the box I'm planning on building will work correctly.(for a 12) IA Suggests. Ported 2 cubes - 2.5 cubes, 20 - 30 Inches of Port, 28-35 Hz I have designed a box using this tool. http://www.reaudio.c...t_Box_Calc.html Width 28" Box Height 16" Box Top Depth 12" Box Bottom Depth 18" Wood Thickness 0.75" Square Port Width 1.5" Square Port Length 4" (seems to help tune it in) This gives me. 30.063035251515 Hz It may possibly be less once i put the sub in and account for the .09cuft of space that takes up. I'm asking here, with these variables, Will this box sound good, and work w…

my plan was to run a single 15 sealed in about 2.3cuft. i did some more measuring last night and i could maybe get 3cuft. i may have to rethink my amp mounting. so i narrowed it down to an Fi 15Q (will work if i go sealed), Fi 15SSA, (will not work sealed), and the DC level 3 15 (sealed or ported). my amp will run 800rms at 4ohm, 1600peak. i am interested in the level 3 15; it is the lowest rated sub in the group. are those numbers conservative? i did pm rusty. he said it would run fine at that level sealed. how are hard have those who own one pushed it? am i really losing much going sealed. i guess i am gun shy. thanks.

So far I know of some mainstream subs that can have decent output sealed like JL Audio or Kicker. I also know the AA Havoc's are supposed to be suprisingly loud sealed, but that's in a much higher power range. What non-mainstream subs in the 500 watt power range have good output sealed. I know the dcon's are great subs, but much better off ported than sealed. I have a friend that wants a pair of 12s or 15s sealed off 500 watts and I'm trying to steer him away from maintream and to run something different than the JL's, RF or Kicker that everyone has around here. I'm just not sure what non-mainstream subs are capable of getting loud sealed. I tried the dcon 12s seale…

Are the IXL's available in a VC config that would allow two to be wired up at one ohm? I'm thinking of either a dual 10" or dual 12" setup and would have a one ohm stable amp. On that note as well, I don't see the IXL 10's on the mach5 website, only on the SSA, and I might as well order straight from Mark and not have to worry about duties.

I have narrowed down to 1 12" ported, 2 10" ported or 2 12" sealed for bass racing! The ported box will be tuned to 32hz.

Im building my sub box but I dont know how thick to make the enclosure. Sub is 18" Atomic APX. Will be 6cubes net @32hz. How thick should the box be. I was thinking 1.50 all around and a 2.25 baffle. But I can go 3" all around if need be. Although it will be awhile before I run the reccommended 5000rms in the meantime Ill be running about 3000rms. I was told by another guy his AP(one step lower than the APX)12 Was still flexing his box with the 1.50. I will not be glassing the inside of the box so should I go 3 all around?

My listening preference is wide. At 2.3 cuft I may have to go sealed.

I currently have 2 Hertz EBX-200R's running off of an ARC audio KS300.4 bridged to 350w rms per sub @4 ohms. I was wondering if it would benefit me at all to go to an Orphan 8? I'm not sure I can run the ARC's bridged @ 3 ohms, though, so I would have to check that (I know they DON'T recommend 2ohms bridged). These are in the trunk of my 2007 Maxima. I don't have a lot of space, as I didn't want to chew up my whole trunk with a sub box, that's why I went with the Hertz subs, because of the small box. How small of a box can I run the Orphan 8 in efficiently? Am I better off keeping the Hertz's, or is the Orphan a better sub? Any suggestions are appreciated.
