Hey guys, so I'm looking for some pro input. Mids/Highs - EJS Audio Full Size Horns under the dash *powered by Linear Power 2202 (mod)@ 110 x 2 @ 4 ohm load. Midbass - Undecided at this point, might even be running ID8v1 or v2's in the doors *powered by Linear power 3002 (mod) @ 175 x 2 @ 4/8 ohm load. Subs - This is where I'm a little stuck. I'm trying to snag as much cone area as I can because we'll be in the trunk running two drivers. I'm probably going to be running 15's because I've got 3-5 cu ft to work with and I'll be running sealed. I know that running one driver ported will get me more output, but some music I listen to has very fast bass transit…

I have a single cab 99 Toyota tacoma and i have very little room to work with subs wise. I am not trying to build a competition set up or anything this is more for sq, but i for the subs i have 2 six inch passive bazookas behind the seat right now which barely fits. It sounds pretty nice so far but i was planning on picking up 2 JL 6w3's and swapping out the bazooka speaker with the JLs. I was wondering has anyone heard the JL 6w3 before? is it like a good quality speaker and will it really bring the low end out?

I tried my hand at designing my ported box for the MAW 10 that will fit behind the seat of my RCSB truck. I have decided to go to 1ft^3 as it recomended to keep things comfrotable. According to my figures using the formula on JL Audio site I reached these figures. Port is a piece of 4" PVC. Box @ 1ft^3 28" port 33.08 Hz 27" port 33.63 Hz 26"=34.20 Hz 25"=34.81 Hz 24"=35.46 Hz Is this right and which one would should I go with for my purposes as a daily driver? And also what should I use as the displacement for the driver? Thanks for yalls help in advance, Aaron

My buddy called me today and is coming over tomorrow and wants a 10 for under 100 bucks. Its late, 1"20 A.M., and I dont really have alot of time to look around, I was thinking a Kicker CompVR or a RE RE. Anyone else have anything else that fits the bill, cheaper the better. Probably is seeing no more than 150 watts, and has approx. .75cuft sealed box.

One of my Vifa's quit playing last night. Not blown, but was cutting in/out. Wiring is fine. I had this problem with one right out of the box. If you wiggle the speaker lead it'll come back on. I'm actually using this as an excuse to try a new set of tweets I run 2 AA poly mids per door and I'm very happy with them and the Vifa's seemed to compliment them well. I'm no audio snob obviously and not looking for THE best there is. I'd just like to try something a little brighter as I found the Vifa's to be rather laid back, which was fine for most music, but on most rock, the cymbals were very quiet/muted. I don't want "in your face" tweets either, just a step or 2 above w…

I fried the tinsels on my 2005 RE XXX 12D2. I don't know where to get a re-cone or what to do with it. I was going to get 2 BTL 15's and put them in a trunk on 5000W or whatever I could afford, I don't want to buy over 1 extra battery. Can you re-cone a 12 to an 18? Would an 18 on 1500-2000 W ported (through the seat) be plenty? It would save hella on everything, I bought it for $350 and used it for a year in a 1.7 cf3 box @ 37hz, it didn't drop but it had rich and neutral sound. I don't like the tinsels being exposed, they should have sewn them into the voice coil. Can they handle 2000W? 2500? 3000? My plan was to have atleast 3000W, and more cone area than 2 12's.

http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_produc...s.jsp?cid=16975 i am working on saving up some money for a new setup. i know i have posted here before looking for subs and here i am, still looking, sorry. i am very indecisive anyways, i think i have brought my decision down to getting one 12". considering ported but if i go sealed i can make the box myself and it would be cheaper. i am really liking this setup above, i have been looking at type R's and it is ported and most tuned correctly. only problem is i cant find any info on it. cant find what it is tuned to or anything. i am going for SQ/LSQ. i guess i will throw in some of the other choices i have been looking at.…

  13. Hey, I was wondering what you guys think of this idea. I've seen it done before and think it's awesome. At the back of my trunk (back as in back of the car) there is a small slightly recessed "well" on each side (Taurus). I have seen an install of a pair of small subs, one on each side, and thought it was pretty cool. I'm fairly new to fiberglassing but I pick up things pretty fast and I think I could pull this off. Basically I want it to look unique, custom but still OEM-style, and pound hard, yet still offer the trunk space I need for long trips. My concerns: 1. When the subs are installed opposing each other in the wells like this, will them pointing at each other canc…

I have a kicker L7 in a sealed box (its dumb I already know) and a kicker zx750 I am looking to buy a bigger box ported box (3 cubic feet or so) but have been warned about the lack of quality in some boxes. Which one of these would be a better choice? Option 1 or Option 2 Or are these not the best choices for an enclosure at all?

  21. Hello guys new here and I am looking to replace my JL 12W7 with a 15" Mag. I am running the 12W7 with a JL 1000/1 in a tuned enclosure(custom build to 32Hz). I am looking to increase SPL and by moving to a larger sub(Mag) using the same 1000wrms. I am pretty sure this Mag will outperform my 12w7 what do you guys think? Could you guys reccomend optimum enclosure sizes for my Dodge Magnum. I am looking to maintain SQ as the 12w7 did a good job in that sence. I am willing to give up as much room as needed in the trunk for the enclosure. I will take the reccomended specs to a pro box builder for fabrication. all input is greatly appreciated. D

  23. Im building my sub box but I dont know how thick to make the enclosure. Sub is 18" Atomic APX. Will be 6cubes net @32hz. How thick should the box be. I was thinking 1.50 all around and a 2.25 baffle. But I can go 3" all around if need be. Although it will be awhile before I run the reccommended 5000rms in the meantime Ill be running about 3000rms. I was told by another guy his AP(one step lower than the APX)12 Was still flexing his box with the 1.50. I will not be glassing the inside of the box so should I go 3 all around?

  24. yeah..the box was made by fine custom works, and is 4 ft^3, tuned to 32 hz. i didn't take any excursion porn pictures...im still only running it with a crappy power acoustik 900 watt amp with the gains turned down low, but it still gets so loud and stays so clean. my old subs (don't laugh, audiobahns) sounded like crap compared to this. when i'd turn them loud, i'd hear popping and it sounded terrible. these sound so much better. im surprised at how good the sq is on this 15"...i always heard that 15"s were a little sloppier than 12"s, but they definately are not like that at all.
