  1. i was just wondering....i haven't thought about audio for a while but i got to thinking today....what's the best box for my application? Right now my Mag !2 us un a 1.9 tuned to 29 hz box...sounds great.....but it would be cool if i didn't take up so much space in my trunk....so i was thinking sealed....but the thing is i only got about 450 watts going to it from the rear channels of a RF 800.4....i figured the ported box was best but i was wondering with the power I have what ya'll have done. I am some what drunk right now so this might be a dumb questions Scott, SC

So i just got my new infinity kappa speakers a few days ago. While i was installing them, i noticed they were crackling alot while i was screwing them to the door. After a good amount of investigation, i came to realize that the frame of the speaker (or any metal on it) was creating a short on the door of the car itself. I could take my knife and touch the speaker frame and then touch the door, and it would short with sparks arching at the other end. The stock speakers were coated in plastic around that area so that the screw was isolated from the speaker and wouldnt short. Does any one know why this is happening? any ideas on how to keep it from happening on my new spea…

I'm looking into some new speakers for the rear spot in my ride (I have only stock as of now), although I have gone all kicker as far as the other speakers so far I want to throw either some Infinity or polk audio in the rear. I guess my question is what are better (or how are they different) Kappa or Reference style speakers?? Also I may scrap the whole Infinity/Polk idea and just go with some 6' Alpine type R's, but I've heard they have issues with the tweeters can anyone confirm? Anyway thanks for your time and be patient with my beginner lever questions, thanks.

  5. Im upgrading to 1200 watts soon, so ill either be getting a new single fi bl or q or maybe a second ssd. If i get the second ssd, the new box will obviously fill pretty much my whole trunk. I have a ski hatch that allows air to flow freely from the cabin back to the trunk, and my current setup is noticeably louder with the port open (sub back, port back setup). If i build this new box for 2 12s, would it be smarter to leave some room around the edges of the box and leave some room between the back seats/ski port and the box to continue to allow air to flow into the cabin or should i take advantage of every possible inch of trunk space and forget the whole ski port thin…

In light of keeping this from heading down the path of a this vs that thread I will just get right down to it. Currently I have two JL W6v2's sealed powered by a Sundown sax1200d. I originally bought the W6's from my buddy for one hell of a deal (2 subs in a box for $250). I originally told him that if and when he got back into car audio I would be willing to sell them back to him. As great as the W6's sound I am looking for more output while using the same amp. Currently I have a sealed box. About 1.25 after sub displacement and 9 inches for mounting depth. I know everyone wants loud bass while sounding great at the same time, but is there a sub that will be louder on th…

I have been looking on woofersetc for a couple of days now and just can't make up my mind on this. What I am planning on doing is putting some tweeters / midbrange speakers in the back of my suv. I want it to keep up with my BTL 18 when I have the back hatch open. Overall I want to spend around a thousand on everything. Everything that's needed is back there as far as power and space. I was really liking the image dynamic horns, but can't find a lot of technical info about them. I am thinking 4 - 6 midbass drivers and 4 tweeters. I am willing to go active and was thinking about trying hifnoics because i've never tried them out before and they have some good prices. Help i…

as the title states. i like how the xxx sounds, it gets loud, but im thinkin...maybe a 12" mt on 2500w....behind the seats, i can get like 2.7 cubes ported, should be enough for 1 12" mt right? and weight, the 05xxx is like maybe what, 10 lbs less than a 12" mt? i know the xxx has better SQ, etc. but i would probably like either one, i like just straight up loud bass. heres the xxx on a power acoutik a2400db

Hey guys i'm playing with kerf port design. But i'm clueless on how big the kerf needs be, compared to the size of the port. The port i'm using is 2.5 x 37.5. Should the kerf be the the same size as the port width or half the port width? Here is the design so everyone can see how i'm tring to get the kerf.

hi, i am thinking of using kick pods for my componots since they are too deep for my stock location ( they are re audio xxx comonopots) and i am wondering i was thinking of putt ing in some midbass drivers in the stock location in the door. know will that affect anything since there will only belike 4 inches seperating the componots and the midbass drivers.

  14. My idea, 25Hz tapped horn using Kicker CVXs, was stolen by Kicker, by Deon screen name dB-Kicker. I didn't do any of this design work or build, it was just an idea, but an idea shared between 2 men in private messages. Since my private message turned into a very public build, I took it upon myself to do the same...share private message information. I made a comment/reply in his thread about it, he ignored it and sent me 3 PMs confirming guilt. I gave him a day to reply, then started my own thread. It was ignored, then deleted, so here you go! 20. Started by emfk,

I'd like to start this post off by apologizing for all the crazy posts about which sub to pick and what to do with it. Even if you don't believe me (frankly, I have a hard time believing myself) I think I've decided I'll start off with 2 10" kicker cvts. If I don't like them, they're cheap enough that I could deal until I decide on an upgrade. My real question is though, if I was to do two 10's ported, at as close to 2 cu ft. after displacement, what should I tune at? I've heard people say that kickers like to be tuned to the mid 40's, but I like lows a lot. Do you think that 36-37hz would hit low enough for me? I'm not going for pipe organ lows or anything, just rap lows…

Recently this weekend me and my friend traded cars becasue mine gets better mileage. he has my old subs in them and this weekend the amp started going into protect mode. this happens on any note lows or highs. my friend says its happened to him before on only one song. but the amp does not get hot it is not clipping or distorted as im running them at maybe 800 to 1000 watts. when i go back to listen to them one sub sounds like it pops then the amp goes into protect. what could that sound be? the song i was playing this weekend was rack city a lot because of its good bass (in my opinion). could i have possibly have torn the spider or the tinsel leads? when i push on sub …

Ok I have the CVX's on a 2400 watt amp..puts out 1700 (RMS) at 1ohm...They are in a pro Sealed Box sprayed with Bed liner (pretty solid) and each chamber has around 2.2 to 2.4 cubic ft give or take!! If i put the Q's in the same box what will be the Differences?? I know the Q's will be more clear and crisp sounding... Which will Hit the LOWS better? Which Will Be LOUDER? Would do a ported Pro box but cant fit one in my Trunk..so Sealed is the only option Here!

I currently have 2 kicker cvx 12" subs in a crappy prefab box and I'm looking to get louder and lower (move a lot more air). I cannot decide between getting a custom box for my subs tuned to the low 30s, or getting 2 type r 15's, or one nightshade 15. which would give me the best results? the type r subs would have to be in a prefab box

I am installing a system for a friend in an older Monte Carlo. He has an Alpine head, US Acoustics US 2200 (old zed amp) and a prefab 12" enclosure on the small side, I need to measure but I am guessing .75cf per driver. His budget is $200 for 2-12" Subwoofers. I have found the following and want your input on which one would deliver more output. He listens to a lot of Hip Hop. Kicker 07CVR124-2-Pack (2subs_07cvr124) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix REF-TM12.4 - Image Dynamics 12" Dual 4 Ohm OEM Tidal Audio Subwoofer Both subs handle 400rms and both can be had for under $200 for a pair. Any input is appreciated. I have heard the CVX's but have never heard of Tidal. I…
