I've been doing a lot of reading and searching and I was hoping I could get some additional help. Is there a classification chart as to which SSA subs are deemed "sq" or "spl"? Is it simply the way that they are installed that makes them better geared towards one type of sound? Also, with the greater power handling subs is the "type of sound" the same or as power increases so does deepness, loudness, etc? For example: Dcon - low power sq sub Gcon - mix of sq/spl at medium power Icon - higher powered sq sub Xcon - ultimate high power sq sub Zcon - balls out, no frills spl sub I know my review and thoughts maybe a bit elementary but please feel free to chime in and corr…

Hello all A very good day today despite not hitting the 150dB @ 20Hz  Here`s a few photos of my car again. Look!! I actually managed to win a U.K. Finals (I remembered to turn my amps on ) Extreme 3-4 catagory My scores: 152.3dB @ 33Hz :earmuffs: 149.0dB @ 20Hz :earmuffs: (Apparently the dB score drops on grass) Huge drop though But I`m very happy with my scores considering I`m running on half power One thing I have to say is that I will not be competing in Bass Race anymore because I have no chance of getting anywhere. WHY??? Because there are no tunes (that I know off) that peak @ 33Hz for long periods of time But I`m happy tryin…

Hi, I have a 12" Alpine type s in a vented Bassworks box( pretty big ) driven by a Pioneer GM-7100M (RMS Power at 2 Ohms = 360 W x 1 RMS Power at 4 Ohms = 250 W x 1). head unit : pinoeer DEH-P7700MP I'm listening to Punk Rock, Death Metal, Metal, Hard-rock and a little bit of Dr. D.R.E amd Cypress Hill. I find my bass not tight enough and not fast enought to hadle my music preferences. Do you think that two 8" subwoofer in a sealed box will do the job? Should I use two SVC 4" sub to get the 360w at 2 ohms of my amp What brand and model of subs should I go for? Sry for my english

Hi from Bulgaria, everyone. At first I was going to buy one of the new Nightshades, but realized there will be some months till I get the money and I won't have any other sub to bang in my trunk. So I am looking for something cheap till I get the money for the NSv2. I am very tempted at the ongoing pre-order of Sundown Audio SA-8. I can get it here to BG for around the same price as Alpine Type-R for instance. My goal is a cheap sub that will bang loud and good for it's money. Sound Pressure ... around 35 Hz. What are your thoughts?

First let me say that I absolutely hate having to ask a this vs that question. That being said I want to get the best setup for my preferences and have limited experience. I have had many different setups but only two serious setups. Both included identical parts (same car I blew one sub switched to another.) For electrical I had the big 3 done in 0 gauge, a normal battery in the engine bay with 4 red tops in the back, 5 single farad capacitors on a bus line, a Alphasonic 8 volt line driver, two Earthquake D3 amps, and a 240amp alt. It was in an old school 4 door buick century (yes the system was worth much more than the car lol!) At first I had a 15" Audiobahn Immortal Q…

  8. I was going to shoot for Fi SSDs or BLs to go with my sundown 1200d v2 But I can grab brand new Rockford P3s 12" for $220 from my buddy who bought them and decided to go a different route I know most of you on here eat, sleep and breath car audio but over all what do you guys think of these subs honestly? Can they handle a sundown 1200d v2 without turning everything way down? By no means do I plan on cranking it way up, but I just dont want to blow these subs with that amp. So for the price what would you guys do?

A while back I picked up 4 MJ18s for use in my home system and I was recently finally able to get them on a Klippel analyzer to see how they perform at small and large signals. I'm posting the information here for anyone else who cares. First off, the unit to unit variation was small. For the linear parameters I'll list the average and for the nonlinear curves I'll show one of them; the rest are similar. The linear parameters are determined in three circumstances: the driver at very small signal, the driver at large signal but cold, and the driver at large signal and warm (after playing some time). Which of these to use really depends on the application; in my case I u…

A gotta call from a friend of mine this morning. He just bought this... http://www.poweracoustik.com/pa2006/produc...IO_wof_mofo.htm He was asking all kinds of questions about it and I told him that I didn't know much about power acoustik's stuff. So here I am again. Does anyone have any experience with this sub? Loud? sound quality? will it run at rated power? I know this is kind of general without box specs but I haven't measured his truck yet so I do not have them. Just in general has anyone ever heard these things because I have pretty much stayed away from power acoustik.

I had a kid at school offer me $700 cash for my SA15s in the box. I payed 500 for the subs and box new so i'm almost positive i'm going to do it. Now, the question is do I buy the exact same subs and get a box built and take the $200 profit and get some components or something like that or do I slightly upgrade. If upgrade, what would be some good subs to look at. I'm running an saz2500 for my amp

  15. hey whats up guys I made up my mind and decided to go with audioque, and now i just dont know if to go with the 1 hdc3 12" or go with 2 sdc2.5 12's, i would be using a sundown saz-1500d for the amp, now i know they say the more cone area the louder it will be, but dam i am very interested in that 1 hdc3 12" lol, oh and also if i were to go with the one 1 hdc3, what do u guys recommend aluminum or copper coils? i would be using it for daily music, mostly listen to hip hop, and i want some decent lows, but remember i want the loudest heard, which many say is different then actual spl setup, but im not a pro so i maybe very wrong, the point is im going with very loud mids a…

  16. Hello again. O.K. I`m a DD user who`s about to jump ship. I have 4x PowerBass XA-3000D amps. Use to compete in dB drag Street "C" Anyway. I`m fed up now cos all I can do is turn up at a show, BURP & that`s it, battery charging again. So I`m ripping out my boot install & now want to have a No-Wall install using 4x S.I. Magnum 15" in a ported box tuned to 27Hz or so. I want some STREETBASS again A few questions though. Can the Magnums take a PowerBass amp each? I was actually planning to use just 2 PowerBass amps to power the 4x Subs. If they can take one amp each that would be something. Bear in mind that I want to turn up at a show & play the system LOUD &am…

would the Zed Minilith be a good match for the new Mag? I know the Mag is rated at 900RMS and the Minilith is rated at 600RMS. I know the Mag can take less and the Minilith does more but would this be a good match for SQ and the occassional SPL comp?

I'm looking to upgrade my sub and I have no way to hear either of these subs personally, give me your opinion please. I have a 94 Mazda 626, amp is a Kicker SX1250.1 birthsheet at 1420 watts. I'm looking at either: a 15" Fi BL with cooling a 15" Fi Q with bp power a 15" Ascendant Audio Havoc. I think I can get a 4 cu ft net box tuned to about 28-32 Hz into the trunk. The other question I have is that I think I have about 17" clearance under the parcel shelf. Is that enough room to get a box in that would fit a 15"? If it's not is there a problem with facing the sub up or should I stick with a 12" version of the sub? Also please let me know why you would pick the s…

  20. Hello everyone, I was using the search button, but I didn't come up with a solid answer. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I'm looking for the recommend box size for 1 orphan sealed. I've read from other post that said the orphan are about the same as the SA-8 and likes the sealed box size of .17^3ft. I've also read a post from mike, that It needed .2 to .5^3ft, but I'm not sure if it was the recommended for seal or port. I actually wanted to try out they type of boxes and see which one sounds better to me. I do want to to try to make a passive radiator box, which I believe these subs were intended for. Here is the info from another post on this forum. T/S Parame…

Does anybody have any experience with this subwoofer? I managed to pick one of these up on craigslist and couldn't find much information on it other than that it is SSA. It is VERY heavy and seems bigger and stiffer than my HDC3 18. I plan on building a new box for it since the one it came with seems small. I bought this because I wanted to put the HDC3 in a car application but most advised it would not fit with the space I had.

Ok so im really wanting to build a system that will play the lowest of notes loud, I currently have 4 21`s, well 2 wardens and 4 ddp's, but its really hard to get all that cone area in a wall, well at least with the 4, plus I snapped two of the neck joints on the dp's do to mechanical stress on the lows. Ive been leaning towards 6 fi sp4 18's, 6 ssa evil 18's, or 8 sundown x 15's, but im havin a real hard time deciding what to use, as well as what box I should go for such as do I want 4th, 6t, or just ported. I need some insight from someone who has a system that plays brutal lows, around 20hz. Any insight would be great. I got 2 jbl crowns for power so they should be ade…

I'm considering buying a used Rl-i 12" to use in my '93 Nissan Altima. I've run an Ascendant Audio Atlas12" (now part of a set in my work van) as well as a Memphis PR12 and currently, an MClass12" (Memphis also). I'm using a smallish 1.2cf sealed box w/o any fill and have a USAcoustics2100 (300x1 @4ohm/12.9v). The MClass has pretty good SQ but lacks output (not as loud as the PR IMO). What is the VC configuration of the older RL-i 12 and would the power I have be enough to be happy with it or does it require more? Any box sizes that would work better sealed? How does it compare w/the subs I mentioned if any of you have owned or heard them? Thanks!! Jeremy
