Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Hi, A friend of mine is looking for an 8" midbass speaker. He has several sizes speakers in his car ! It's not really perfect as ///M5 would have done it, but it sounds so good !!! It's one of the best sounding cars in my island : loud, nice and gets low when needed ! The 8" will be powered by 2 channels of a JBL amp, a pbx 300.4, so about 125 watt rms per side at 4 Ohms. He runs a second JBL amp (100.4) on the smaller speakers and tweeters. Electrical is very good. He has 4 Sundown saz 1000's on 2 SSA Xcon 15" in a small Renault Clio (build log here on ssa forum). So... All his speakers are in the front doors (2 doors car), and he has just told me that he doesn't care ab…

  2. I have a 15 inch Fi SSD with a bout 800 watts going to it. I want to get some front 6.5 components that will be able to keep up with it. I have a kicker 150.2 amp so that should be able to do about 100 watts x 2. Budget around 100 dollars but I will go higher or lower if its worth it.

I have been really looking at the Fi Btl's and the RE MT's but not exactly sure what size i can get do to box size would really like to 18 as im trying to be as loud as possible and have heard good things about the 18" fi subs but not sure if the box would have tto be too big after looking at some oof meades builds but maybe some of you who have installed some setups like this could help. So i figured i would come here for advice.

  4. I'm looking for a 12'' subwoofer to work well in a .7 to 1 cuft enclosure before speaker displacements. Getting about 1000RMS. I listen to a lot of 80% rap and 20% rock and possibly some techno here and there. I was aiming for a Fi Q 12 but i was told that there are subs around that work really well in small sealed enclosures. I want it to be as loud as possible. I also have had a RE SX 12 in a .6 sealed box after displacements. It did really well and sounded clean but it got pretty warm. I'm just exploring my options. Any feedback on woofers is greatly appreciated! Thanks

My 96 Saturn SL2 has no trunk so I was going to move to infinite baffle to gain trunk space. I currently run a Zapco Ag650 pushing Image Dynamic HLCDs, 6.5s, and a pair of Aura Bass shaker Pros under the seats. My subs are currently Orion HCCA 12D4s driven by a Mark Antony MK2500D and according to my amperage draw and ohms law it tops out around 1600 watts. I may be reducing equipment to cut down on the room taken up. My wife has children and we are expecting twins. I have an Audiocontrol Epic-160 in the dash to dial down the bass on the subs. I am hoping the bass shakers give me the bump I want to feel without being to much for the family. I am considering either using a…

Its about the same size as my wifes civic hatchback only taller. I am currently making a box using the design i got from Ryan @ RAM designs. The speakers that came with the car are a joke. Boxed 6x9's inb the rear which sound terrible and some bargain JL 5-1/4's in the front. I listen to a variety of music ranging from metal, dubstep, hip hop. I would like the speakers to have crisp clean highs but still have some decent mid range. (my old MB Quarts were great for highs but gutless in th…

I’m looking for a bit of knowledge from the bright minds on the forum which is all of you guys since I’m sure you all have a great amount of help you can provide me with. I have an 1998 Chevy Blazer I currently am using two Alpine Type-R twelve’s but want to start building a system leaning toward better SQ. I know the basics about how I want to hook it up but looking forward to some advice on a few components. I am fitting four six and a halves in the doors and two tweeters I am thinking of going from my twelve’s to ten’s for a little better response. From what I see there are a few brands that look good from JL, Focal, Cadence, Seas, Alpine, etc. Now for the subs I w…

I'm looking for one 18 i can give 2500w. I wanted one of the new BTL's but I messaged Fi and they told me they were in the process of moving and so production is a little slow right now. Any suggestions on something comparable? I currently have DC Lv.4 12's (love them) running off 2 Kicker SX1250.1's. And my price limit is about 600. Thanks.

Hey, i've been looking for days on the internet but there are just too many subs to choose from. I asked about what subwoofer would be best for me on another forum but lets say they werent very helpfull. So im looking for a single or 2 subwoofers (dont know what's best yet) for in my car. I got a kind of low budget but i just want to get some nice bass. It is for daily use btw, if it matters. I live in The Netherlands, so im not sure if all subwoofers can be shipped to here. So, what i found yet: http://www.pimtensen.nl/shop_details.php?grp_id=6&sub_id=18&cur_id=7117 (Is it any good because it costs only $66??) Or something like this: http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/pr…

I've been trying to pick out a good set of comps for a while now and was wondering if I could get any input? I picked up a honda accord and everything has been ripped out. I guess its a good starting point. I have been watching videos on how to build your own fiberglass door panels and kicks and figured I might give it a try. If I can get it to fit I was hoping to run 2 12's ported sealed from the trunk and was wondering what set of comps would keep up and be clean but not too harsh? And if running 2 sets would be better?

I live in Johnson City Tn and am very interested in hearing a pair of XCON subs. Not a lot of bumpers in this area so was wondering if anyone on here or anyone you know has a pair that i could drive to hear. Im willing to drive a couple hours away for the demo as my wife has insisted i hear these awesome subs before purchasing them This may need to go to general audio section, sorry if so.

  17. I'm buying a pair of FI N3's and can't find any info on them as far as enclosure size or any specs in general. Can't search since it's 4 letter minimum search so any info on them will be greatly appreciated. I'm undecided on wether they will be built into 15's or 18's, depending on how much box volume they require. Thanks guys

So I plan on taking advantage of the SAZ-1500D sale this month and I am going to need to decide which sub(s) to purchase as well. I'm looking for a little guidance in this respect. I own a trunk car so I'd like to keep the size of the box down if at all possible - I'm thinking under 3 cubes. So that probably leaves me with either one 12" ported, or 2 12" sealed. I guess I could do 1 15" sealed too. I listen to mostly rap, so SQ is of little concern, but I don't want it to sound like complete crap either, at least to me. I have been thinking of either a 12" BL or 2 12" SSDs. However, I'm definitely not firm with these choices. I'm looking for recommendations. Again, lookin…

Well lets get this part out of the way, I have a Dodge Magnum, and I'm currently running a FI Q 12 D2 with BP power in about 2.2^3ft at 31ish hz on a Sundown 1500d. I love the sound of my setup (listen to primarily rock), very happy with it, EXCEPT i want my cargo space back! For fun I had it metered and put down a 140.8 on the TL. So what I'm looking to do is build enclosures for my rear storage pockets as you can see here. I want to attempt building them myself, but am using this for planning which means somewhere about .7 cu ft and 6.5 inches deep to work with. Obviously this would limit me to a sealed 10 or sealed or ported 8. For budget let's say 200ish a piece for a…

i have yet to decide on a new front stage, i have a pretty beefy set up /w eu's in the rear and a w6v2. was wondering what comps would do well with 70 watts goin to em. i was lookin at focal polyglass 165v2's and rainbow slc 265's. the focals have high sensitivity, so i know they'll be loud enough to be heard /w my rear stage. any reccomendations are welcome, the doors will be deadened, so midbass response will be better. also, where's a good place to stick the tweets? cant build kick panels cuz i have a foot e-brake, and i use it. thanks a lot for the help

I currently have the new alpine type x components on my 90mazda b2200 installed on some custom kick panels i made and dont like how they sound. I just purchased 4 10s Savard Rap subs that i plan on installing them in the back space of the seats. So im looking for drivers that could keep up with subs but maybe little more vocal. Im not going for SPL or SQ, something in between. I was thinking of adding 2 5” drivers per door wired down to 4ohm and 2 tweeters per door “ or maybe gonna install in A/C vents” down to 4ohm as well. The amp i have for vocals is a Twisted Sounds 150.4. I was planning on raw drivers madisound or PE, with budget of around 40-70 per driver depending …
