The other day when Mark and I were talking about his new model subs, he suggested he send me one of his new prototype drivers, the Mach 5 SPL 12. I got this sub in this weekend and had a chance to look over it and install it, and throw some real power at it (above 2.5kw, per his request). This will be Mach 5 audio's first real SPL dedicated subwoofer, and from what ive observed this weekend, I only wish they had them in 18's First off, here are the pictures of the driver. The first thing I noticed about this driver is the heafty weight of the assembly, it comes in at 54 lbs  The basket is a standard 12 spoke style, however its been machined and milled …

I was wondering if the spl subwoofer line by mach 5 is strickly for spl because I would like to use one in a daily setup. If you have one or heard one, what do they sound like? For example, could you compare them to say a Type R? I already know Mark's opinion, but I would like a few others

I have been trying to wire up my subs. I have two Mach 5 Audio SPL12s hooked to a Audiopipe AP3000.1D. I am using 8 gauge wire to go from the amp to the subs. However I cannot get the wire to stay in these terminals. I put one 8 gauge wire in and tightened them all the way up and the wire still didn't really stay in there. So what I came up with is this: I took the nut off where the tinsel lead goes to the terminal, then put a length of 8 gauge with a ring connector on it. Will this cause any problems? I don't have both subs done yet, so it is not hard to revert. I find these terminals a pain in the ass! its sort of like what DD has done with their subs.

what you guys think? what kinda boxes do MAW-15 or MJ-18 need? can they take more than rated power daily? heres what i have to work with. Behringer EP-1500. its 1400w rms @ 4 ohm i think. this is for rap music, not movies, although once in a blue moon ill watch a movie and might use it. opinions? *EDIT* it is 1400w rms @ 4 ohm (bridged) or 700w rms x 2 @ 2 ohm amp specs: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl....tnumber=248-745

Hello All: This is my first venture into subwoofers and am hoping to build a Mach MAW-15 sub for Home Theater purposes. I have a prefab sealed cabinet with an internal volume of 2.5 cu. ft. I hope to drive it with a Parts Express SA240 or 240 watt plate amp. As the MAW-15 is rated at 500W RMS whereas with only 240w AMP - Is this power be sufficient to push the MAW-15 for Ht purposes. I humbly request your advice if I am on the right track in purchasing this driver. Keep up the gr8 product line! Kudos! Thank You! TSS

I'm wanting to go active with front stage. I've been shopping around Seas, Peerless, Aura, etc, and was wondering if anyonce has used the mli-65 midbasses-midrange in a IB door install. If so, looking for opinions on their performance compared to the other offerings mentioned above. Note: tweeters have been decided on either.

Hello, I'm looking into purchasing a Blown SPL12, and was curious if the motor is the standard 6 bolt. I know the MJ's are different so I figured I would ask. Next question is, are the 15" 4 spoke baskets Mach5 sell's standard 6 bolt as well? Will the SPL15 recone work with the 15" 4 spoke basket? Thanks guys!

Hey guys, new to the forum here and i've taken an interest in Mach5 audio. Unfortunately I went to the website to browse around today and it seems like the website is down. I was just wondering if this is only happening to me or is the website really down (Mark did state on the site that he'll be on vacation, maybe that's why )

An excellent quality 6.5 inch bass-midrange that will work well in 2-way systems or MTM alignments. Also useful as a mini sub for small systems or computer setups. Use at home or in the car. I have seriously been thinking about doing a DIY comp set and I remember looking at these a while ago. Since you guys have infinite more knowledge than me , can you point me in the right direction as far as a good matching tweeter for it? Planning on going active with a Sundown 100.4, but im not sure what tweeter to match with it. I saw the review of it months ago on here and it looked solid for my needs, just wanted a few opinions. The tweeters I have heard before include the mainstream stuff (Infinity Reference, Pioneer, Kenwood, Polk Audio, Kicker, etc...) Im not looking for SPL, more like SQ but with good output, (have to be able to keep up with a pair of 15s Porte…

Hey Everyone. I bought these 8 Inch Peerless SLS speakers a year ago to put in my Neon. I bought them because I was told if I could fit an 8 inch woofer in my door, there was absolutely no reason to go with a 6.5 inch woofer. Well I recently bought a used 2005 Subaru Forester and I can’t figure out any way at all to install my 8 inch Peerless woofers. My question is, would I really loose a lot of the punchy bass that I love if I go down to a 6.5 inch woofer in my doors? My doors will be sealed and deadened. I have 4 inch peerless midranges and seas tweeters that I’m hoping to install in some custom kickpanels. They’ll be running off an alpine H701 for a 3way active w…

well i am going to build a couple of twelves here in the next couple of weeks, and i was trying to find a couple of threaded adapters that tc sounds used for these type of top plates. and of course i just can't find any, except for robot underground, but he wants 80 bucks a piece so i got with our in house machinist and made these up. they are designed to be a interference fit that way when mounted sideways they won't shift from the weight. the id is a couple hundredths smaller than the threads on the motors. i will have to make some 1/4-20 guide rods out of 3" bolts to align the adapters, because they will have to be heated with a propane torch to expand them first.

I was looking to get 8" or 10" (quantity 2) subs that would compare to my 12" SI Mag. As you know, caraudio is addicting and I'm always looking for new ideas. This happens to be my latest one. I was thinking 4 Bravox PXW 8" in 2.4cuft @ 33hz, but am not too sure. Then I was also thinking 2 used SA-8s. My third idea is two 10s. Max cuft = 2.7cuft net Power options = 500 @4ohm, 900 @2ohm, 1200 @1ohm. Budget = $150 I want to have the same or more SQ/Loudness as my 12" Mag or previous 12" SSA Icon. Might not be do-able, but would like to hear your guys input!

I've had my 2 12" magnums for quite some time now and still haven't set them up. I'm pretty close to it though, now that my alternator is here. Anyways, I have questions regarding enclosure size. I can fit a 2 cf box in my trunk with enough room to spare, but after sub displacement, this gives only 1.6 cf (0.8 per sub) right? Is this good enough? Will there be big difference between 1 cf after displacement per sub and 0.8 cf? Most people seem happy with 1 cf, but I don't know if that is before or after displacement. Each one will be getting like 600 watts from a PG tantrum 1200.1 amp. If I need more volume, I might just port one and sell the other one, or use it …
