Subwoofers / Speakers

I have a JL Audio 500/1v2 & am ready to add my substage. I'm using an Alpine-CDA-9886 h/u & Image Dynamics CTX-65 components up front, powered by a JL Audio 300/4v2 (running active). I know JL Audio isn't very well liked around here, but I got the 2 amps lnib for $280. I originally planned on porting a single Sundown SA-12, but now I'm not sure. I can get a brand new Sundown SA-12d2 for $160 locally, or order a 12'' MB Quart RWE-302 from woofersetc for $70. I plan on porting either way, & I have a Grand Cherokee, so space isn't an issue as I've heard the MBQ's need alot of space. I'm trying to install them but the post are not marked which is positive and negative, how can you tell which is which?

So I noticed that my right front stage seemed to be lacking lately. did a close examination... switched the left and right outputs on the amp to see if it might be the amp... but to no avail. the mid works o.k. about 1/2 output I'd say... but the tweet is really seems lacking... did my X-over take a dump? the little light/fuse seems in tack. heat mang. thing... IDK...

i want to build a box but i cant find MDF wood any were so i was wondering if useing ply wood would make a big difference

Ok so yesterday i smelt a weird ass smell. It almost smelt like manure or something. Then I smelt it again today, twice. The second time i popped the trunk and stuck my nose in the port.. found the source of the funk... It was a burning smell. I was listening to music at full tilt which i regularly do. The oinly change i've made was putting on the loudness feature on my headunit. So what's the deal? The spider is fine and the voice coils look ok but they have spots on them that look like rust or something. Also the burn marks of the terminals aren't from me. My sub came like that. I need to know the diameter of the bottom part of a 12" Mag's motor. hi, my freind that i wound up selling my xxx componot set to told me that they are making a mechincal type noise whenever they get past half volume. And he has them powering off of a sundown sax100.2 and set for 20volts at 2 ohms (200watts) now he left me them to mess around with them and i got them to not make the noise if i turn down the equalizer ( it's an alpine 9887) so was it just the speakers reaching their mechincal limit or should i tell him to start looking for new speakers. i already emailed re audio but have not gotten a response yet. thanks

So this happened, I'm new this, still learning, but is there any way to fix this or do i just have to completely buy a new 12? What caused this just so i know because i don't want it to happen again.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice that there is a bunch of people out there that are now using Memphis subs? And it is the MOJO subs too, not the LVS sub. I mean we all knew the LVS was a gimmick more than anything, but still I know of 2 people who are sponsored by Memphis and even they are using the Mojo subs (and Mojo amps also for that matter)

has anybody owned these subs? I just bought a 15" and put in a prefab ported box, gets loud but not low enough.. Is 35hz a good tune?

Hey all. I can get a really good price on Memphis car audio. I did listen to a pair of 10" M3's and they sound great. I was wondering what you all thought about them and how you would compair them to SS or other brands? THanks for any info BC

I just purchased an IA audio 18 15" but last night i was looking on craigslist and i saw a 15" memphis mojo for sale $75. I was wondering if these subs were really that great and if anyone knew how much the retailed for. I looked on memphis's site but the find a dealer link wouldnt work.

Hey guy's let me start off by saying im new to the board, im in the crossfire of buying a mojo 15 or sundown zv4 15, don't really know which is the hardest hitting sub between the two. I have a ford focus se (trunk type) and im debating on doing a custom box in the trunk or inside the car and remove the backseat. So im asking for some help on which sub is the best and the best way to build the box. This will be a single 15" build BTW. I will be using an extra battery, 0 gauge wiring, 3500 amp. Thanks

well today at school my friend brought his explorer into the shop for an oil change....i could help but notice a huge "M" on his back window and knew what it was when i saw it. hes got 2 15" memphis mojo's and 2 MC2000D's powering them. his chit was slappin hard as hell. i have never heard memphis subs before and was thoroughly impressed by them. one of the loudest setups with 2 15's ive heard next to btls... what would you say are comparable subs to the mojo's...do a lot of people run them? what do you guys think about them in general...worth the money?

I just bought two 15 inch memphis mojo's that need recones. just wanted to know everyones experiences with them. And i contacted psi about reconing then but they havent replied yet. Can they do it for me? And im gonna have a box built for them. How should i get my box built for a jeep cherokee? Subs up port back? Or everything facing the hatch? Let me know!! Thanks!

I just ordered some Memphis MSYNC8 comp. and I was wonder how much power would you recommend on these ran active and what crossover points do you recommend? Which is better for these, passive or active? Coaxial or separate? If you own or heard them, how do you like them? Thanks.

This guy at this car audio shop dropped kicker line because he said Memphis Subs were louder is that true? He's selling me 2 15's Memphis PR's with a Ported Box for $289.. Will these be louder than the L7's? or CompVR

I have 2 memphis PR 15's right now in a ported box tuned to about 34 and im looking for a new amp that will push these... their rated 250rms each but the guy said their underrated.. Will Hifionics amp do the trick?

My friend wanted to know which is better. I have two Memphis Pr's layin around somewhere and he has some Kenwood Typhoon 12's in his truck. Both in sealed application. The Typhoons are running off some crappy Phoenix Digital 1000w amp. I doubt if the amp even puts out 400w. anyway and I have an Orion 600D (I think thats the model) for the Memphis' and also for my own personal TS-W306's. The amps are somewhat Irrelevant for this question as I'm just trying to figure out the following things for him. 1. Which subs hit harder? 2. Which Get louder? 3. Which are More Efficient? 4. well, as some of seen the pics..now it's time for a review.. i bought the sub for $50 just so i could add some low end. i chose the pr becuz scott (owner radioactivity) said they kicked ass for cheap subs, personally i thought he was full of chit...but read on.. The Install the sub is in the recommened 1ft^3 with 6in^2 of port. yep just 6 square inches! the only thing i changed was port length, as memphis recommends a 40 hz tuning, i added 3/4" to the port length, hopefully bringing it down somewhere around 35-37 hz. The Power yeah right!! it's getting fed a rated 70 wrms @ 4 ohm from a memphis pr 140. fred (local memphis rep) says the amp is actually closer to 125 wrm…

anyone have any experience with memphis subs? 2-12's in sealed box. all according to spec. which would be better. hpo and d2 shp and d2 The shp is kinda expensive, so wondering if a d2 would be better? hpo is pretty cheap but does d2 blow it away? thanks.
