Subwoofers / Speakers

My current system consists of 2 JL10w3's which I have had for a few years. They have always exceeded my expectations and impressed my not-so-caraudio-savy friends. I have done my research and set my sites on Fi BL 10's. I am wondering if my dual ported JL 10'' box and pdx 1.1000 will be enough to get a great performance out of 2 BL 10's. I'm not looking for maximum power, I am just trying to impliment new subs into my existing setup w/o the need to purchase a new box and amp. could two 12" type x's take a aq3500d amp wired to 1ohms? or would it be better to run them on the aq2200d amp? also box recommendations? i no it should be sealed an tuned to 32hz but how many cubes should i give each sub for them to perform there best? also ill have the electrical to back all this up this will be a daily set up no comps or nothin

okay i just went to a competition and though i did good but i want to go louder. i have a mostly rockford fosgate system. this is what i have (2) sets of sony component sets (1) T400-4 for the mids and highs (1) T1500-1BDCP for the subwoofer (1) T2D415 the subwoofer is wired down to 2-ohms Pioneer priemer 3200-ub head unit stock 90 amp alt (2) batteries one is a yellow top and the other is a shuriken 80 amp battery 0 gauge wire throughout the car big 3 done on front and back battery box is a 4 c.u. ft. ported and tuned to 36hz the car is a 1996 eclipse rs hatchback i hit 141.0db in stock 2 of the idbl competition im stuck deciding between re audio and fi but open to more…

hi, i am helping a freind install re audio xxx comps and i took off the tag that said if the red or the blue was the postive and i am wondering if anyone can tell me how to figure out which is which and or if someone has a set that might know.

OK, I know that this topic will piss off 95.9999% of you guys, lol. But am using a AQ2200D and wanting to know which sub would be most suited for its intended purpose. Am deciding between the IA DR or DP. Am just wanting to know which would be most suited with the power. Am using either for a daily driver that sounds good but can get loud. Thanks

I have heard a million times that running one voice coil on a sub with multiple coils is wrong. I read an article by Adire Audio years ago and they actually suggested running on one voice coil in certain situations. I also remember that running one VC while "shorting" out the second VC would change woofer characteristics, I believe it raises QTS if I remember correctly. I understand that it would basically halve the power handling of the sub. What else does it do? The article also says something about a sub with 300 watts wasting 298 watts as heat, and only using around 2 as musical energy. Are speakers really, that inefficient? Im looking two get two new subs. What would be a better buy. 2 12" Alpine Type R subs (4ohm) or 2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3 subs(4ohm). They are being powered by a US Amps XT2000D amplifier and will be wired at 1ohm. In a sealed box. I am getting both at the same price but i dont know which ones would sound better. And im also looking at getting some new speakers, debating wheter to get the Alpine Type R 5x7 SPR-57C or the RE Audio RE5X7FR. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks

would the Zed Minilith be a good match for the new Mag? I know the Mag is rated at 900RMS and the Minilith is rated at 600RMS. I know the Mag can take less and the Minilith does more but would this be a good match for SQ and the occassional SPL comp?

Quick question. I currently own a Kicker L7 and am looking to get a new system. I'm thinking of getting two 12' MTX 8500's with a 1,000 watt amp. I can get them for $110 each through MTX, which is why I'm really not looking at other brands though they may be a little better. I'm a metal head so I'll be putting them in a sealed enclosure. I'm told these will hit hard but will also stay clean which is what I'm going for. Does anyone own or have any experience with these subs? Am I crazy to not get them for the price? Would I be better off getting Kicker CVX's for $20 more? Any feedback would be great.

On 4000-5000wrms all day everyday what sub is best and loudest between a fully loaded BTL, a DC LVL. 5, or a DD 9500

Do i need to pay attention to the fact they are 0.7 and 1.4 coils or can I rely on them being dual 1 or dual 2 when hooked up to an amp? box rise i dont think about as im not competing or burping just a daily setup...

I have a single cab 99 Toyota tacoma and i have very little room to work with subs wise. I am not trying to build a competition set up or anything this is more for sq, but i for the subs i have 2 six inch passive bazookas behind the seat right now which barely fits. It sounds pretty nice so far but i was planning on picking up 2 JL 6w3's and swapping out the bazooka speaker with the JLs. I was wondering has anyone heard the JL 6w3 before? is it like a good quality speaker and will it really bring the low end out?

i have a rlp 15 in a 3.5 cube box tunned at 37 with 50.25 square inches of port area. how much power can i throw at it? any advice is appreciated

Any thoughts on which one of these 15" subs would be helpful. RE Audio SE '08 series aluminum spoke basket design---OR---Oz Audio Matrix Elite series??? Both of these are the same price which makes it even more difficult to choose. Looking for SQ so it will be going into a sealed box. Both are 4 ohm dvc wired to a 2 ohm load as my amp is only 2 ohm stable (boston acoustics gt-28 1100x1 @ 2 ohms)

So Im about to change my factory speakers to a 2-way component set. Right now, I will be running passive (HU->crossover from components->woofer/tweeter) but in the future, I plan on adding a Sundown 100.4D Will this be right? HU->Amplifier->Crossover from components->woofer/tweeter) Also, is this considered active? The reason why I ask is because I plan on buying Morel Hybrid Ovation II components, and the dealer Im getting it from told me they put a lot of work in the crossovers. At that price, I wouldn't like to put those crossovers in a box in the closet, but I wont use them if you guys tell me its better not to have them if there is an amplifier already…

Hey all, I was thinking about getting 2 RL-i8's for my 99 4door Tahoe, would this be enough to get decent bass? I know I have a lot of room for subs but I don't want to take up too much space (I have 2 kids). I have not heard these subs before, but from the vedio that was put out from the hellboy box amazed me. I know I wont get thoes numbers they put up but I still want some decent sound and loudness. I got 12" Jensen hooked up on a Lanzar Vibe276 and for some reason it is continuously popping. The sub pushes out like it's playing a 1 hz test or something. Someone told me it was clipping but I am not sure. Any Ideas. Thanks ~Thomas

I'm looking through my subs owner's manual, and I can't find the displacement. What is displacement represented as? I've Googled it every way possible and still have come up with nothing. They are Clarion SW1051's. Sorry for the noob question.

I've been trying to pick out a good set of comps for a while now and was wondering if I could get any input? I picked up a honda accord and everything has been ripped out. I guess its a good starting point. I have been watching videos on how to build your own fiberglass door panels and kicks and figured I might give it a try. If I can get it to fit I was hoping to run 2 12's ported sealed from the trunk and was wondering what set of comps would keep up and be clean but not too harsh? And if running 2 sets would be better?

i set my amp to give my sub 1000w but the amp is 1200w do you guys think it can take 1200w in a sealed 2.6ft box without any problems?

I am still up in the air about what i want to do with the limited amount of space i have available in my car. i remeasured everything and i realistically have about 3.5 cu ft gross to work with. I am pretty decided on building a nice baffle and facing into the cabin with subs. not sure if i should port forward or into the factory 6x9 openings in the rear deck. If i port forward, i am not sure if i should go with aeros or slot it. if i did it through the rear deck i guess that i would have to do aero ports. As for subs, i can either go dual 10" or 1 12, maybe 2 12"'s if they are lower Qts. This is a temporary install as well, but i need it to be somewhat decent. So i gues…
