I am getting either two 12" fi q's or two 12" fi bl's and i was wondering if the rockford fosgate t.1500 amp is enough to power them and if the bl's are a big difference over the q's and how loud they are. I care about sound quality but if the q's are a lot quiter i would rather just go louder and get the bl's

So I would really like to learn more about all the T/S parameters and what each affects. I have been searching for a nice 10" at an afordable price and settled on the Fi BL for price and performance, and based on what I thought I knew about subs picked it over the Mach 5 IXL since it has a higher sensitivity and fs and SD I figured its louder. Then I modeled them both in WinISD beta... The red is the IXL blue is the BL, the lower line is my best attempt on both subs for a daily vented box, basically the flattest response I could get. IXL is flatter and louder... The other line is a 6th order spl box and once again IXL wins... Anyone know why and/or what parameters aff…

Anyone ever used banana plugs in a system? I am installing a 10" icon and a 1000D and i was going to use banana plugs to plug the wire into the subs. These are the ones i am going to buy. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=eKs-BP Will these fit in an icon voice coil terminal? Should i just run the wire into it?

It's time for something new, and I'm thinking that I'd be better off buying a pair of more efficient, daily oriented 18's than buying a second 9518g and underpowering it with 2k each. My amp is a Memphis 4kw, and I'm looking for a pair of 18's along the lines of a Level 4 XL, Death Penaltys, Fi BLs, Nightshades... something like that. I don't compete, so I just want loud to the ear. How would these type of subs compare to a pair of 9518g's on only 2k each, and does anyone know of someone selling 1 or 2 of these 18's?

So I have been tossing around a few ideas. 1st I am thinking of running 2 IXL 10's in a center console, vented enclosure tuned to 32hz (not sure what cuft would be best?) these would be run off my 1200.1 Tantrum @ 2 ohms The goal of this set up is to save some space over my current set up while maintaining similar output. My current set up is a single TC sounds 15 3k 3.2ft^3 tuned to 32hz. (I love everything about this set up, just wanting to try something new) The space I would like to stay in for this new set up would be 20" high x18"wide x 24"depth subs and port both facing back. what would be the optimal cuft and port area? so that is the 1st and most practical set up…

Is there any programs off the top of your head that i can play with for a sub enclosure for my new build.Still going back and forth between F1 15s or L715s.This would go in a 1996 Chevy exdt.cab without the rear seat.

So I will be in the market for new sub woofers and I need some help narrowing/making a choice. They will be 2 12's What I'm looking for out of the sub is some thing that will play nicely with the front stage, which will consist of Mach 5 mli65's in the doors and seas 27TFNN's in the pillars being ran active by an 880prs. I'm sure 2 12's will have more then enough output for me so that is not being considered. The subs will start out their life in a sealed enclosure but I would like them to be versatile enough to experiment with different enclosures. I plan on a false floor construction in my 2003 Mustang Cobra trunk. The subs will be facing up in the middle of the trunk and powered by a Zapco DC reference 1100.1 amp with about 850W @ 4ohms. First, excellent place for information these forums are. I'm sure I'll lose a ton of sleep pouring over these pages. Now on to my situation. I don't need my vehicles to get extremely loud (I'm very happy at 125db), but I like it to be pretty clean. For this reason I usually prefer older equipment... running a pair of Kicker s12d solobarics until very recently (very happy with those btw). Newer stuff, especially "main stream" stuff tends to be more spl oriented and is usually pretty muddy for my tastes. Anyone use any ribbon tweets? I have heard them in home but never seen them in a car audio application. Any have opinions?

What difference if any does the width of the port make? I understand the tuning and freq changes and all that but lets says you have 2 boxes size and build appropriate for 33 hrz. for 2 12's, if you could build the box with a 2 in wide square port, a 3 in flared port, or what is the down size to using a smaller port area say a 2 in round or a 1 in wide sq port. I realize that it would reduce air flow, but if you have the box built and the port tuned properly does it really matter?

Hey guys i have done some googling and looking around but i cant find a good enough answer to my question... Its it ok to invert subs when mounting them? The general feeling is due to the low frequencies it is ok but at what crossover level does the sub being inverted affect performance? i have a 2.3 cube ported box made of one layer of 3/4 mdf. it has no leaks, but i notice that the box vibrates a fair amount. would it make sense to dynamat the inside? or would this kill my sq?

i just want to c what other people think 18 ssd fully loaded or 18 Q no BP
