Quick question. I currently own a Kicker L7 and am looking to get a new system. I'm thinking of getting two 12' MTX 8500's with a 1,000 watt amp. I can get them for $110 each through MTX, which is why I'm really not looking at other brands though they may be a little better. I'm a metal head so I'll be putting them in a sealed enclosure. I'm told these will hit hard but will also stay clean which is what I'm going for. Does anyone own or have any experience with these subs? Am I crazy to not get them for the price? Would I be better off getting Kicker CVX's for $20 more? Any feedback would be great.

i just moved my 2 mtx 9500 into a 05 sentra spec V... i have the 1000 watt rms mtx amp on it at 2 oms, and a 6 farad power accoustic power cap... when i start to pound them after then get so loud, they dont distourt but they just wont get any louder do yall think i should get a second amp to help push these things? The amp is a mono block, but has dual outputs... wouldnt that make it 500 watts rms coming out of each output? i imagine they can get alot louder if i did. and also, even with that 6 farad cap, im still diming out my lights but the digital readout on the cap is saying the battery is still putting out a lil over 12 volts... any ideas?

Hey, First of all let me say that i am new to this forum, and i have been doing as much reading as possible. This Forum is soooooooo helpful, props to whoevers in charge. My first subs that i owned were Rockford Fosgate p2's, i had them running with a Rockford Fosgate amp as well. I made the huge mistake like everyone else, and i decided to go through best buy about 2 years ago to get my subs etc.... Dont get me wrong, they have nice stuff, its decent, but not what im looking for right now. I have a 2004 Extended cab silverado, and i want to put two 12's under the back bench seat ( if possible ). If not, i might have to work with something else. I have heard a lot o…

I found a pair of the red stamped steel basket MTX road thunder twelves next to a dumpster outside my apartment the other day; while not being as loud, they sound considerably nicer than my lanzars; they seem to be an ancient model, but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of finding a few more for a low power install for my coworker? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=293-352

I've been reading that if i want loud for music, i need to go with as much cone area and power as i can. My limited power available is only 4,400w. To keep costs down, i've been looking at some subs at sonicelectronix and i see 2 that seem pretty interesting to me. They are all 12s. Clif Designs CDNUC12 Clif Designs Absolute VI 2000.4 Absolute That Absolute is the D6 version because they have no current info on the D4. I was also lookin at AQs SD2.5s but these subs are cheaper. The reason why i posted this thread is because i'm being told that running 4 12s for daily driving, because of more cone area and more heat dissipation, is gonna be a better, louder choice that run…

i have been instructed that you can not use multiple mid bass drivers (or multiple midrange/tweets either) because it is not possible to setup proper staging with this configuration. staging being set via the dsp to push the sound stage past the physical limits of the vehicle. is it true that multiple drivers are next to impossible to setup a sound stage on?

Hi guys. I currently am running a single Alpine SWX-1242D with a pdx 1.1000 in a 2.25 - 2.5 cubic foot enclosure in the back of my Hummer. I csn't remember what it is tuned to, as I got the design off of a forum a couple years ago. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the ouput I want. I am not sure why, but there just doesn't seem to be enough bass. My input source is a Mac mini running to an Alpine PXE 650 with the Ant EQ, which has 4 volt pre outs. I also run a stock batt, with a yellow top optima in the back. Stock alternator and all power And grounds are 0 gauge welding cable. So since I can't firgure out the problem other than the box may not be right, …

I've got a 15 passenger van and am looking to install a low budget system (anything is an upgrade to the 2 front door speakers I have currently) I have a pair of 6 x 9 speakers at each row of seats in enclosures and the 6x 9's in the front doors for a total of 10 speakers. I also have a powered bazooka sub I want to use in the rear. I have a 4 or 5 year old Pioneer Premier head unit that I plan to connect to. I would like to add a 4 channel amp to give the 6 x 9's a bit more power and have the following questions I'm hoping someone can help me with: 1. Would 1 four channel amp be enough and how many watts would it need to be? Could I get away with a 300W amp or would I …

Hey guys. I have the Kenwood Excelon X1R amp and am looking for some new subs to put in the trunk. I have really been looking at AudioQue. I like the way there stuff looks and the prices. Its looking like 2 12 Sdc2.5's in a ported box (if the room is available). I was wanting to see any other suggestions for 2 12s in the range of 300-350 and also wondering who has had experience with these and if they were loud for spl. Thanks

  21. Over the past few days I've noticed my dcons bass excursion decline at random times and now it is at stable very low volume compared to how it used to sound. I've only been using it for a bout a year running on a crescendo 1000c4, it used to sound badass and shook my whole car up now its just a dull rumble. I don't think I blew it out because I've been running it at the correct wattage thru my amp and had it professionally installed and thought SSA was known for it quality woofers. can someone please help me out?

  22. me and my cuz made 2 boxes...1 is ported and its ABOUT 3 cubic ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz...i say "about" cause minus the wood thickness, port displacement, and the subs volume its around 3. i dont have the exact measurements of the port right now the other one was sealed at 1.6 ft^3 my problem with it is its LOUD when you sit in the car but not when you're outside with both of these boxes. i didn't try it in my car yet cause i dont got wires hooked up yet but i tried it in my cousins 1995 ford taurus and we weren't happy about it and he didn't know why it wouldnt hit hard. he has a old garbage pioneer HU in his car but it should of still hit harder than it did. i mean when i he…

So I ordered a 15" mag I think a week n a half ago. I just haven't had time to get everything setup and what not. Over the last week, in my spare time, I have been building my 2.5 cu ft sealed box. Here are some of the pics: Thats it for now. Should be done tomorrow. Glueing the front baffle onto the box and the terminal cup. Then sealing and carpeting and installing tomorrow! Here is my old subs. Nice subs, just wanted a change.
