Subwoofers / Speakers

As the title says, im looking to replace my 2 10s and Im having trouble finding some that work well in my enclosure. Its a sealed dual 10 enclosure with 1.1 cu ft for each sub. Everything I have looked at has an optimum sealed enclosure of .5-.8. Anyone have some suggestions for me, price range would be around 500 for the pair. Thanks

Hey all, I'm looking at getting some new gear for a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe. In the past I've had a set up that included: MB Quart Components front and rear, Eclipse 15 subs (2) and Fosgate amps to power everything (1 360.6, and two 250.2). I'm beyond the big boomy base and mostly listen to metal/rock (NIN, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Slipknot) along with some lighter stuff (Echo and the Bunnymen, Morrissey, etc.). I'm basically looking for a compromise of playing loud and sounding really good (something that doesn't sound muddy or tinny). I've listened to some Alpine Type X's and thought they sounded great. i have a set of Polk dxi 6.5 components in the front doors of my truck. I really dig the tweets and over all they sound pretty good. ive done a fair amount of deadening and sealing of the doors. They are being powered bye a jl xd400/4 gettin about 75 watts rms. Would it be worth a shot to upgrade the woofers with some thing with a little more extension? Mid bass isnt bad for what they are now,but could be better! is there any limitation of the woofer through the passive xover or does it just block bass from the tweets? An active setup is my ultimate goal so purchasing a better mid woofer is not a bad idea anyway. just wondering if anyone has upgraded a component woofer…

So I'm going to be in that area in 2-3 weeks - picking up a boat I purchased in Cottage Grove. Figure I would camp out in St. Cloud since it is north of Minneapolis, which means easy driving from there. Would love to hitch up with a few folks in the area. Might bring down a couple of goodies.. Well the title states it all. Im looking for one 12 to put in a sealed fiberglass box. For power I have a sundown sae-1000d and i have up to 2 cubic feet to work with. i was thinking of running a ssa icon in 1.2 cf. Anybody have any other suggestions?

I've been too busy to put my mag 15 in my 3.7cf tuned to 27hz box that my friend built.I am picking the box up in 2 days and was wondering,when i asked my friend the size of the box he built and he told me 3.7cf, but when i asked him if it's tuned to 27 hz he said theres 25sq inches of port.Does that sound like it's tuned to 27hz?

I have some 70w rms pioneer 5-way 6x9s that sound decent but definitely not as clear as I would like. So I thought Id buy some quality 6x9s, Ive been looking around for awhile and none seem to come close to the Infinity kappa 693.9I 3-way speakers in specs. Anybody have any experience with these? I am installing a system for a friend in an older Monte Carlo. He has an Alpine head, US Acoustics US 2200 (old zed amp) and a prefab 12" enclosure on the small side, I need to measure but I am guessing .75cf per driver. His budget is $200 for 2-12" Subwoofers. I have found the following and want your input on which one would deliver more output. He listens to a lot of Hip Hop. anyone have experience running these on magnums? i was thinking about getting the T03 2.2HV. it says in the manuel 750x1 at 4 ohm and they can go down to 1 ohm so im trying to figure out what they put out at 1 ohm.

for SPL and the sub that hits the low notes the best in a ported box seeing 1000 rms.

Well i got my system together ( needs some minor adjustments here and there). Running a jvc KD-avx77 to my kicker zx750.1 amp, and to my Fi SSD12 with copper coil option. I wired it in parallel but then my amp went into protection mode and i didnt even really turn up the gain much. Should I wire it in series? My sub has the DVC option

Well, I am/was using an e8a for sub duty in my dorm room. Well, playing nothing rediculus, it was working fine. Came back from lunch, turned on a little bass. Nothing. fudge. Soo, i pull it outa the box, i have came to the realization that one coil is screwed. I have one working coil on it, so I might just be using one coil till I get around to buying an Assassin 8...I wanted one of them, but now I have an excuse. holy crap. I liked this little woofer too. Is it possible to get a recone of it? Cliffnotes, One coil on my ED e8a is screwed, one works. Recone possible? Most likely buying an assassin 8 now. -Ryan

im interested in buying 2 level 4's. and i was wondering if a 2000d would be enough power? i know it would be right on there rms, but every system i've seen has them on 3000 watts+. i know its probably a noobie question but thats okay. lol

I got a viper d1200.1 and i will be running 1 15" at 1ohm. would that be too much power? also if running at 1 ohm, should i build an amp rack with a fan? if the rack is nessicary, anyone know any sites with some plans, or some ideas on designs, etc. o yeah, i am putting this in a Saab 9000 hatchback.

Kind of like the title says, I want to get an Fi Q 12 with all the options in a sealed box, 1.25cu ft. I already have the box made. The amp is a rockford bd1500, does 1500w rms at 2ohms. The amp will be ran off a high to low level converter and I know it looses some signal, but not sure if that will effect the wattage output. I just dont have to have one of these subs built only to smoke it shortly after. Some people suggest not more than like 1250w rms, but i though maybe with the extra options and the fact the amp is off high level inputs if it would be 'safe'? I emailed Fi almost a week ago but they never emailed back. Thanks for any input.

He has graciously agreed to donate 10 subs to the Audio Engineering Society at Michigan Technological University for use on a project of ours. We are trying to recreate the new Elemental Designs Dodecasub, but since we are using SI drivers I know it will sound much better . ok so here's the deal i bought a treo ssx motor and 18 inch backet. it's blown. has anyone reconed an ssx with a different cone?? i'm looking into tc sounds cone right now (i already have it sourced and kind of priced, just need to measure and make sure it will fit) can anyone help me out? oh and the reason i don't want to send it to treo is it will cost $188 for them to do it plus shipping to them, and it's not exactly a light sub if you know what i mean

hey guys....new here and i just bought a pair of NIB SA-12s from a member on here as well as a MB Quart DSC1500.1...... i am about to start building a box in the next few days and using the box calculator this is what i come up with.....seems to fit the parameters of the subs well and from what i have been reading i think i am pretty close.....just wanted some opinions and some input from some of you guys first before i go ahead with it.... the dimensions below are kinda all i have to work with....i have a 2009 Jeep wrangler unlimited and wanna stay in the back under a cover.....basically i have 36x15x22......i wanna do a slot ported box..... thanks

I finally go around to measure under my seat for a custom enclosure, now i just have to decide on a sub. I'm looking for 6x8s to run off the factory head unit in my 2012 Escape XLT. Factory stereo, no nav, no sync. I read on another site that the Infinity Kappa speakers sound better than stock ones off of head unit power. To me the stock speakers sound good, but I'd like it louder and to have better bass response. I found the Kappas for 75$ a pair shipped, so 150$ for all four. So I'm looking for anything better than those within the same price range, or a confirmation of those being good. Could also run comps, if they could sound good of the hu. And on a side note, anyone know the output power of that hu? I'm guessing under 20 watts.

Ok so it seems like every major company is coming out with new slim subs. I can't interpret T/S parameters that well and i don't have experience with any of them so give me some options. I'm looking for a sub for the fiero. It will be going one of two sucky places. #1 in the console between the seats (meaning the sub would be firing about 17" away from my nose) this would require an extremely shallow sub but could be up to 10" in diameter (could fit a 12 but airspace would never be sufficient) #2 in the passenger kickpanel area (but in the corner closer to the center of the vehicle) which means it'd be firing towards the passenger for this i'm thinking mpyre 6.5s woudl…
