Well lads I went to strip a friends walled install on Saturday as he want it rebuilt. It was installed by a "professional" installer over here in Ireland. Now the problem lies with the SoloX 18 Kicker sub he had. Its the first generation Sub made by kicker, when being installed the installer dropped a hammer through the original dual 1 cone, so it had to be replaced. since the sub is in the car it has been smelly, like Kicker is, so the installer said he would replace the cone. Now on stripping the car I seen the Spagetti of wiring, will get pics of this off the owner tonight hopefully to show you, but basically one run of 0, stepped down to 4 gauge, into a distro block t…

  2. I'm also wondering who makes the best 4" hands down? i installed an alpine head unit and i initially wanted to keep it consistent by hooking up alpine speakers, but if i could get a better sound out of it with another speaker manufacturer, then i would be pleased. I only have 2 mounts for 4" speakers and am considering adding a sub in back but would rather keep it simple. any advice? here are links to the only 4"speakers they carry http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPS-400〈=en&tab=Fhttp://www.kicker.com/ks_series

I have some 6.5 comps in the doors right now, and some 4x6's in the dash if my s10. I was wondering what was the advantage to getting "better" door/dash speakers?? I have 2 rl-p 15"s in a ported box. Would it "add" to my bass?? Sorry if this is a noob question. I just want to justify soending more money on "better" speakers (mids/highs).

So first try at everything failed miserably.....my box sucked, my amp mysteriously blew fuses, etc. But now! I built a new box for my AQ SDC2.5 12" sub.....around 2cuft net tuned to ~38Hz.......and got the sub put in and all ready to go. Now, I was more than a little nervous hooking up my amp. I rechecked EVERYTHING to make sure all the wires were good, and i got some new RCAs (mainly cause i wanted to). Finally, it was time to hook up the power wire.....seriously, I was scared. But for no reason Hooked it up, and nothing blew! Then i turned on my car, and the sub didn't play. I was like, "Of course..." but after double checking the gains, and adjusting the bass…

I am upgrading my power on this sub from a Viper 1200, which already got it loud as piss, to a US Amps 07 model Merlin MD3D for daily street beating. How will the sub take the power? I have heard that in this power range in when the sub will really come to life. This won't be too much for daily will it? And what kind of increase in output can I expect? I know it may seem like a dumb question but any respones are welcome.

Well guys, I pulled the trigger on a 15" ZCON last night. Here in the next few months, I hope to pair it with a nice 3500, give it plenty of airspace, and tune to about 30 hz to see what she can do. The Evil may or may not have been a better choice for the amp/tuning combination, but I got a great deal on this driver. I'm sure she'll do nothing less than blow me away come time for install. I'm talking to my box designer now, we're trying to decide whether to do a standard enclosure or seal off the trunk. Either way, I'm totally stoked to start running SSA.

Im having a hard time weeding thru everything to find the best of the best woofer for my application. It seems as if i get a different answer from everyplace... So ive decided to ask seperate questions and be more specific in my application goals (and poll as many peeps as possible). Box will be ported using 6" areos. I want a pair of 15s that can accuratly reproduce all bass (especially the lows) @ a 4 ohm load on my amp. At that power i want to be able to go to an sq comp and win. But i want to be able to take it down to 1 ohm and run like meade... subs must be able to handle the power at 1 ohm and sound as good as possible. Daily is where im mainly concerned with but i…

His set up consist of a 06 US Amps MD2, DC lvl4 15 D2 in a 3.5ft3 tuned at 35htz, stock electrical system, and 1 crappy deck in his Chevy S10. I do have to say these are loud low end monsters! I was very impressed with it. He ordered it from Rusty and recieved it the following day!!! Nicely done!

Hi every body ! A friend of mine wants a 15" sub for his system. He has a DTI amp that pushes about 1200 watts rms at 1 Ohm. I think it's like a Boss amp ! So, numbers are not very accurate. He wanted a 1000 watts rms sub, but can go down to 600-700 rms. He wants it to be loud, not for breaking spl records, but not into SQ ! I showed him 3 available subs : Sundown SA 15, Kicker CVX, and Alpine type R. What do you think ? Any other choice ? Ooh ; budget is less than $300, $250 will be better. We have big shipping fees to add later. Waiting on you guys ! Thanks

I'm number crunching and having issues with depth. I know spacers is the "duh" option. Mids can't be inverted/wired out of phase right? All the sound would go into the door then huh? Why does it work for subs but not higher freqs? I'm havin a dumbass attack and need someone to explain this to me lol

Does anybody have experience Customizing TRF Motors? Im looking to create a low end monster with pretty good sound . It will be a 18" woofer thats a daily driver. Are there any particular parts I should request as far as layers to the voice coil or a certain size spiders? Im probably going to go through PSI and have it built.

I'll be upgrading my system next summer but I'll buying the gear over the winter so come summer it will be build time. I need help pick out subs and some components speakers. As for what vehicle its going in, I'm not sure yet I'm planing on buying a second car also next summer. I'm just trying to have all the gear ready for when I do buy a car, but most likely will be a 2 door car as it will be my car to go to work mostly. I have decided on the amp I will be picking up over the winter, Crescendo BC2000d for the subs and C1100.4 for the mids and highs. Depending on the car and if I have room, I may also down the road pick up a second BC2000d. For subs I have been looking …

working on my new build, getting ready to build my box. subs are going in a 2007 Chevy impala, looking for opinions on which way to fire my aeros.i know that firing sub's back and ports back would probably yield best output, but I'm not going to have enough room on the baffle for the subs and areos.so what about subs back ports to the driver side firewall or subs up ports to the rear/tail lights, basically a crx type box. not really wanting to cut the rear deck as I'm trying to keep the stock look, any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. thanks

My Dad's Ford Expo's Mach Audio subwoofer stopped working. I will be removing the stock 8" subwoofer and need some help finding a suitable replacement for the stock enclosure. The only sub I've found so far that meets the requirements is the MTX Thunder4500 8" : http://www.crutchfield.com/S-BPWdxhzxcW8/c...;i=236T4508#Tab And the spec requirements are: # 8" 4-ohm subwoofer # power range: 80-100 watts RMS (b/c stock amp is rated ~85rms) # sensitivity: 86.6 dB # top-mount depth: 3-3/4" (most important) THANKS!

Well I know MB Quart was bought by Rockford Fosgate a few years ago and the quality of their speakers went down. Now MB Quart is owned by Maxxsonics...the makers of HiFonics, Crunch, and Autotek. Are the new line of MB Quart speakers any good? I have a set of MB Quart speakers made the year before they were bought by RF and I love them....but will their new speakers be as good? I'm looking at the Premium line specifically.

  20. I am trying to figure out the best way to accomplish my goals here while maintaining a reasonable budget. i will eventually go higher end, but for now i have other things i need to spend money on. With my original doors in place i was limited to a 6.5-7" midrange and tweeter. I was considering the Seas prestige textile domes for the high end, and the AA Poly's or the ID Oem's from the guy on CA.com that are like tweaked CX64 drivers. New setup was built around DLS Iridium 8.3's with a 8 inch midbass, 3 inch midrange, and 1.1" tweeter. the actual door panel has a sealed enclosure of expanding foam and 1/4" thin birch ply attached, but i will have to cut it apart and reshap…
