this may be in the wrong section so mods plz move it if needed ok. substage sounds absolutely amazing but i'm tired of turning the sub volume down so i can hear my frontstage. which is bose btw (ftl!). sooo.... time for an amp and some comps! i am getting around 1200 clean watts to my Q. what kind of power should i need up front to match or at least keep up with my sub? no real budget here... just because i have no idea what kind of money i will need to spend. once i figure out what power i should need, then i will figure a budget lol... i can see the answers now... "its all in the application" or "i cant help you unless i hear the car" or whatever.... just humor m…

A friend of mine has a 700 watt JBL amp and wants a pair of 12s that'll hit hard and sound good sealed. These are the subs we're trying to choose between. Which would you choose out of these? 2 SI BM 12s sealed 2 JL Audio W3v3 12s sealed 2 Treo TSX 12s sealed 2 RE SR 12s sealed 2 Audiopulse EPIC 12s sealed

im looking to change my setup. if i go the bl route, my box cuft will be 5-5.4cuft total including port area. if i go btl route, the box will be about the same total. they will be powered by a zx2500 which in the birth certificate says 2700 (if that matters) now i want to know which will be louder. this will be for daily use in my dodge charger. i currently have 2-15" L7's sealed in a 4.2cuft box and it pounds, but i just want to change it up. plus, i have a feeling that i can get louder than it if i go the FI route. thanx im also open to other suggestions.

well i will be building these as soon as i find some coils that will do the job. after some consulting i have been informed the coils i was going to use won't be optimum with these motors. but here are some pics of what i have as of now.

So I'm going to start building a loud setup soon, as my Q is fine for daily and sounds great, I want to build something to get really loud. I just want to move some serious air, what would I be happier with? Incriminator DP 21" in about 9-10 cubes, tuning (30-33hz?) Two 18"s, (AA Havoc, eD 19Ov.2, Fi Q/BTL, Mach5 IXL), in about 10 cubes, same tuning. Post your suggestions.

I was looking at getting a SS RLP 18 but I came across a good deal on one 15" REVO and would buy another. My question is are they good for a daily loud setup? I have done SPL subs in the past but want a low end monster now that is loud to the ear doesn't matter about a meter we don't have any compitions here anyway. Would they work good?

Well my friend was cleaning out his garage and was throwing a bunch of stuff out. He had this Eclipse sub in some hideous box and didn't want it anymore. So I just took the sub and left the box there. He had it connected in his car for about a week and it worked, but it had a tear in the rubber surround. I think while taking it out of the box I also broke one of the terminals. Is there anything I can do to save the sub? Will I have to get a recone? I'm not exactly sure when you need to recone a sub, I searched and found a ton of threads with people needing subs reconed but I don't when it's really needed. Here are some pics I snapped of the sub.

Hello everyone, 2 Weeks ago i received my eagerly awaited mj18m sub from mach5. Now I've been thinking about the box design for quite some time now and had initially decided to go with a sealed box because I don't want the sub to take up a lot of space. But after modeling the results with winisd I noticed that with a fairly small (115 liters) ported box tuned to 28 hz I get a much higher output obviously, but also a pretty good frequency curve. So now I'm contemplating if I should go with a small ported box instead of going sealed. But since the recommended ported enclosure for the mj18m is 142 liters I wonder if going that small is smart. I want the sub to sound as go…

I bought a 2 12" TC-3000 last year, the DVC version with lower BL. I went to a shop and got it installed, but now I want to try and redesign my system, by building a new box and possibly purchasing some new amps, but I don't know what the T/S parameters are[DVC's should be different than QVC], the wiring diagrams[ohm load] or power ratings. I've checked the old TC website, but they only provide information for the QVC version. I've also tried calling them, no luck.. Are there any tools I could use to figure this out or is there anyone that might have all this information.

i have a question about a system i plan to build, i have a 07 monte carlo. i plan to get the rockford power 1000 5 ch, from all the reviews and info i found on it the sub channel makes about 900 rms. i dont know which way i wanna go with the subs, should i get two 12s at 500 rms a piece or a single 15 at 1000 rms. from what i found about most subs i looked at for a single 15 the ported box size is about the same as two 12s in a ported box. as for the install i dont want it to take up the whole trunk so i want to build a box around 3.5 to 4 3ft. but what combination would sound better, i like rap mostly and i like it loud. thanks for the info in advance.

Right now I have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz being powered by a JBL GTO 1201.II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms and it sounds good. How would a FI BL 15 sound in my current box with my current power? I know they get louder than the Icons but do they sound good? If they have decent to good SQ I might want to swap in favor of more output, that's if my amp and box would even be good for the BL.

I'm thinking about replacing my two-way components with a DIY three-way front stage. I'd purchased a set of Seas CA18RLY 6.5" woofers and 27TAFNC/G tweeters last year, but the mids are too deep for the stock door locations. I ended up going with JBL P650c components which sound good, but I've always wanted to try something better. The plan would be to put 4.5" mids in the door panel, and put the 6.5" woofers and tweeters in the kick panel. I have a SAX-100.4 and SAX-100.2, so I should be fine with amplification. Any suggestions on 4.5-5" mids that will complement the other pieces but still comes in a shallow depth (<= 70mm)?

I understand that a given sub in a given enclosure does not remain a "*" ohm speaker. The actual impedance is dependant on the frequencies being played. After watching the resistance dance around on my multimeter, I was wondering if there is a method to stabilize the impedance closer to what the woofer actually is and salvage some of that lost power from my amp.

well i am going to build a couple of twelves here in the next couple of weeks, and i was trying to find a couple of threaded adapters that tc sounds used for these type of top plates. and of course i just can't find any, except for robot underground, but he wants 80 bucks a piece so i got with our in house machinist and made these up. they are designed to be a interference fit that way when mounted sideways they won't shift from the weight. the id is a couple hundredths smaller than the threads on the motors. i will have to make some 1/4-20 guide rods out of 3" bolts to align the adapters, because they will have to be heated with a propane torch to expand them first.

I have already been doing some research, but am still fairly lost. I am going with a passive setup and will be using quite a few component sets and am still unsure who is really good and such. I am looking at about $300 a set roughly. As it stands now I am kinda lookin at the one of the Rockford Fosgate power comp sets to use, but I am still really unsure. Some insight would be great.

A Fi 12SSD sub in a sealed box with an AQ1200D Amp wired at 2ohms. Giving it 870watts to the sub. as of right now i have a RF punch 360.2 amp powering the comps. giving them about 150 Watts. But going to get the AQ4x90 when it comes out in six weeks, and have it bridged to 2 Channels give the comps about 240 watts. Thanks for the help in advance. ***Watts given are wha…

I've got around 300 to spend on a sub and am looking to get a decent s ql setup. I don't plan on upgrading my electrical so I'm trying to stick around 1000w. I want sq so w/e I choose will be put in a sealed box in the back of my extended cab toyota t100. I'm very interested in the mach 5 subs. How would say a ixl 18 compare to a fi q 18? I'm considering a single mach 5 ixl 18 or 15 with 1000w or 2 mach 5 mj`8's off of 1000. Which setup would get louder? Which would have the better sq? I'd really like to get to the 140db range but I'm not sure if it's possible with only 1000w sealed with these subs. What do yall think? Any help is appreciated.

I recently got a 2006 Pontiac G6 and I want to carry over most of my curent system. i.e. HU, Maw-15's. But the G6 comes with 6.5's in the doors and 6x9's on the back deck. Which opens up all kinds of possibilities since my last car only had 6x8s all the way around. My question is. What speakers will be good to have? I seen the Mach 5 6.5s but I really would like to keep the speakers the same brand. So What Speakers are a good choice. My Budget is Probably about $200. Thanks in advance. here are the speaker specs again Front = 6.5 Rear = 6x9 ~MadroX

After trying to work out a place to fit my Mpyre 65Ms in my Tercel wagon, I realized it wasn't going to happen. I sold them and bought a new pair of Hertz Space 6 mids. The Hertz are 2" shallower 2" than the Mpyres, which will allow me to build some kick pods for them. Is anybody here running the Space 6 in kicks? How do they sound? The only constant in my system over the last year are my DLS R4 comps. I bought them last year for a steal. The 4"s are mounted in the stock under dash locations in the Toyota, with the tweeters in the outboard AC vents. The stage is about a block wide, and the mids have amazing punch for a 4" I'm driving them with an Aura Force 250-A, and wil…
