Subwoofers / Speakers

I have decided to go with 2 sets of Iseries comps and a 10" DCON for drivers. I will be running all off of a SAX 100.4. One set each on channels 1&2 with the sub bridged across 3&4. My question is which of the 3 box designs in the download section will be best at this power level(320wrms)? It will be for daily use with no intentions of competeing. My music tastes are metal/rock with the occasional hip hop/thecno thrown in for showoff purposes. Thanx for any help/info.

hey guys i built a sub box for my friend 3.5 cubes at 40 hz aero ported. we put a alpine type r 15 in it and we blew it in a day i was running 1100 watts rms into it i know its only rated for 750 rms . i was running that 15 in a 34 hz 3.5 cube box with no problem with the same amp. Why is that the cone seperated from the voice coil. is it cause of more air flow it over extended? so which sub should i go with an fi? sound splinter? aa? ssa? and he wants to spend at most 250 for a 15. Oh and by the way i never heard a type r 15 get so loud that box made it rediculous. thanks guys in advance Billy

Hey I have 2 old style first generation audiobahn immortal 15s im looking to rebuild. Does anyone know of any specs that could help? Such as voice coil and spider size, who originally designed motor or what soft parts are compatible etc. I was told that a sundown nightshade drop-in would work but i would like advice and honest opinion from a knowledgeable subwoofer builder. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks

A friend of mine just finished a fairly low budget system in his subaru and he's unhappy with how is lows turned out so he wants me to help him out (sadly, I know more than he does). He says he wants more output, but I know that he is also not a mega bass head. currently he is running a cdt es sq-80 on a Alpine pdx 600.1. Hey all! Im in the market for a beefy little 10" woofer that will get loud and sound good doing it too! I'm lookin for something that can offer me great sq as well as great spl. I've been checking these out on the sundown website and a few vids on youtube (obviously don't do any justice) I was wondering if any of you guys have heard about them or have them installed in your cars? I'm considering buying a set for my front speakers.

welll i just ordered my 4 channel and i was planing on running the sundown pro audio mids 8's in my build coming up and i was wondering on what do you think of the nice tweeter that do pretty well with the pro audio mid by sundown??? i was looking at the hertz H28 or maybe the ht25 since they are slightly smaller? or also the audio que pro super tweeter and the cresendo tweeter as well my budget is some what limitless since im not doing the build till like early spring but i dont wanna spend thousands on the pair of tweeters lol any help will me be nice and i know it will be difficult since people have preferences some one might say its to bright while other say it isnt …

Well...I've never heard the SI Mag D2...but from what I read it sounds amazing. Help me imagine it. Compare the sub to an IDMAX or SoudSplinter rl-p or Alpine Type R or 12W7. Thanks in advance...I look forward to the replies as I am a bit excited by what you may say about it.

This is my first post on the forum as I found myself liking the way SSA forum is handled versus other car audio forums out there and I'm looking for advice from people who really know their stuff! My build is very budget oriented as I am 18 and in college but that's not to say i do not take my bass seriously. I have an APMI 2K with 1/0 KnuKonceptz Bassik wire ran for power and no big 3, all powering 2 10s under my back seat in my 2012 F150 which has already been sound deadened slightly and the back cabin vents sealed. My current setup is in a 2000, mustang convertible. Very little room. I am using 2 seperate boxes at about 1 cube sealed. I have a kicker 750.1 amp, powering two 10 inch CVRs. My question is, what can I drop in that will sound better? Of course the cvrs are loud, but after I tuned them there just not where I would like. I am looking for a cheap replacement. I may be able to sell the cvrs to some friends to help with cost. I'm looking at the Sundown E-10, so Skar IVX 10 Would an upgrade be worth if it, if so, what subs should I get? In short: 750-800rms, 1 cube sealed (each), daily use. What to get?

Got the 12" hellion installed earlier today. Thought would take around 3 to 4 hours. But ended up taking 7 hours for amp install, LOC, sub into box, and box into trunk, tuned a bit and all good. The installer seems very knowledgable and super chill dude. I feel bad that it took so long... I was there just hanging out and talking with him throughout the whole thing and paying attention to learn some. Will post more pics tomorrow hopefully after work. Well, I received my new 12" Mag D2 and this thing is amazing, I'm powering it at a 4 ohm setup running around 700watts (visonik 900xD). I'm curious to see what it'll do with the full 1400 or so watts. Its mounted in a box I picked up from Mark, I believe its 2.8 cu. ft. ported at 28Hz. It is very very accurate and doesnt back down to anything, I'm impressed. All I want to do now is cruise around and listen to some good tunes. First off let me say that I love the look of the old SI Magnum especially the Claw basket. The new SI D2 looks ok, but besides looks is there big differences in the models? The new one looks to have less cone area (maybe more similar to a 10" cone and a huge surround.) I'm sure there is a thread describing the newer driver, but how about a comparison? Advantages? Disadvantages? General differences? PS.. The 8"s never materialized .. any future plans for those, or 10"s?? The Hammer

Ok, currently i have a set of Focal 165 3-way components in my yukon and i think they sound great! I know some say that they are harsh, and at first i agree, but after a little eq'ing i got them sounding great imho. I am doing an install for a friend in his Voltswagon gti (nice car:)) and am trying to choose a good (under $350) 3-way component set for him. I am considering the precision power PC.3.65. I will buy an amp according to the speakers i choose. I would recommend my focal set but they might be a little "harsh" in his small car. Those aluminum tweeters in the focals are sharp haha! Alright guys please don't hate too much, i found this audiobahn h2300hct amp on ebay and im pretty sure its what im going to get. It does 1200 rms at 2 ohms, and thats what id be running. Unless you guys could help me out and tell me of another good priced good amplifier.. im on a big budget im bout to move out of my current house. I blew my sundown 1200d running it at .25 ohm :[

I changed amps on my Front stage recently and it sounds like absolute garbage now. I went from ~100wrms to over 200 on tap (not sure if I'm using all of it) and it's sooooo muddy now. I thought the amp was distorting so I turned the gain down til it sounded decent but it's way quieter than.before. I had to turn my high pass up to about 100hz (from 80, but I partially expected this) and aim the tweeters at the floor to get it to sound acceptable. To top it off...it isn't even louder. I'm under the assumption that my drivers can't handle the power but other than that I'm stumped.

New Setup need build a LSQ system I wanna put a good system together but Im not sure what type of subs or amp to look for. I listen to a lot of R&B, Hip Hop & Rap. I love my music to be deep(subs) and clear(fs) so what would be good oh yeah Im not on a want a budget. If anyone could give any good suggestions/advice, personal experience, etc I would appreciate it, thanks!!

I was wondering if it would be possible to get one of the new BM baskets by itself? also would it acccept a quad coil cone (doesnt look like it so thought id ask) and if the answer to both of those are yes then can i get the specs on it (to see if it will even fit my application

As most of you may know, the BM's are going ultra-shallow! Ultra-shallow being 3.5" for a 12" model. The new BM will be offered in a 12" only with dual 4 Ohm coils. Enclosure sizes are 0.75 cubes sealed and 1.5 cubes ported. Power handling will be 500 watts RMS. That's all the information I'll let out for now, but here is a picture of the basket we are going to use (and before anyone asks, this may or may not be the color of the basket )

This thread will be the official thread for the new BM series prototypes. When I get back to the office tonight I will post up the T/S's for the 10" version. The 12" version is being built now, and I should have T/S's in a few days (along with the woofer hopefully). I'll post again tonight with the T/S's and then I'll continue to keep this thread updated with all information regarding the new and improved BM series. PS: Chad Hicks has our 10" BM proto and is putting it through its paces right now. I'll post up his thoughts/review when he's done.
