I was just wondering why my 15in xcon coils were reading 1.5 when there a dual 2. i checked the reading at the amp and it said it was at .7 ohms. also when playing music my ohm rise jumps all over the place. it goes from .7 to 6 or 7 ohms. my main concen is that i wanted to buy another dual 2 xcon and i dont want one reading 1.5 and the other 2. also if these xcons come as 1.5 then id be running at .38 ohms which i feel is way to low. systems build: 15 inch xcon in 3.2 cu box tuned to 30hz. sundown saz-1500, xs power d3100 any advice?

I'm extremely interested in a pair of the focal 165 a1s and I went to listen to them at a shop and I was completely blown away... at first. The song started out I gave the guy my own test CD and the mids and mid-bass was awesome it sounded really really good. I have limited experience with listening to different speakers but this is undoubtedly really nice sounding. all things must come to an end however and a sample came in that was very high pitched and those tweeters are very bright. I like a somewhat aggressive tweeter but this was over the top. I still want to get the focals but I'm wondering about changing the tweeter. How would this be done with issues such as comp…

I have been wanting to try out a 12" Mag for a while now. The guy is selling an older version for $200+shipping. I think he may go a little lower, but I dont know yet. Looks to be in decent shape, few cosmetic battle scars. Major scratches on the basket but still looks OK. Now this is what I am so skeptical about, he reglue the spider to the cone and basket. Looks like potential trouble in the future. I really want one that I can have many hours of listening enjoyment from. Please give some feedback on what you think.

  10. I am purchasing either of these pairs of 12s this weekend. Either set will be powered by a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp wired to do 700 watts 4 ohms. Either set will be in a Pound That Sound Double Kerf Flared ported enclosure. I looked at many pairs of 12s and narrowed it down to these 2. I want a setup that'll get loud and sound clean. I listen to mostly rap and bass and on ocassion some rock and metal. 2 SSA dcon 12's or 2 DC Sound Labs Level 2 12's

I have seen the Focal 165 VR3 set of 6.5s, 4s, tweets and wonder if they are good. I have heard by some that they are overrated. My local shop carries them so I know they will be bias. I can get the whole set for $320 with warr. They can go in a 91 Silverado ext cab powered by a sundown 125.2 and I think they would all fit. I havent cut the holes for the 6.5s in the doors yet but Ive heard its a very common custom install spot in that truck. What do you guys think of Focal?

Anyone here use around 600rms on a Mag 15? I am debating instead of adding another battery into the car to just downgrade the power going to it. 600rms would be half of what I'm sending to it now. Its in a sealed box. Think it owuld be a huge difference in output or does the Mag do really bad with that amount of power?

I've been searching for amps to power 2 Mags and a set of Viper 650.2 components. I was looking aat MTX but I want more power on the Mags. I want the amps to match if possible but they don't have to. I only want to run two amps and my budget is $750. Oh yeah the Mags will be ported tuned to 30hz. Thanks.

I am getting a weird noise from my 12" BM, it sounds like the coil is rubbing or that its bottoming out. It is not on big time bass songs, only on like rock when a kick drum hits hard. I have it in a box I built to try and get it to 2cu ft and 34hz. I am using a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D to power it and have each voice coil hooked up to its own output on the amp. Any help is appreciated.

I'm looking for a 12" sq sub in the 500-600w range. I haven't been keeping up, but I seem to remember reading that RE products have gone down in quality. I know the IDQ is an all time favorite. Anything else fit the bill?

I have a buddy that I built a box for and installed two SA-8's. He bought both of them used, one from Darren Francis, the other from a local guy. Anyway, with the subs wired in series/paralell for a 4 ohm load, one of the subs gets extremely hot after only about 3-5 minutes of play. If the sub hasn't been played and is cool, there is no scratching when pushed in, but when it's been played and gets hot, it has a little scratching noise when pushed in. Anyone know why this would be happening to only 1 sub? The other sub stays completely cool and plays fine. It is possible that one of the coils could be blown on the bad sub? I did a quick test with a DMM on the subs wired to…

So my subwoofer (Alpine Type R 12") is dual voice coil 4 ohm. Now what I'm confused with is it's wiring down to 2 ohms (for 500 watts RMS). I wired down to "2 ohms", but is that per voice coil, making it 4 ohms, thus leaving me with only 300 watts RMS? If so, does that mean I'd have to wire it down to 1 ohm, making it 2 ohm total? Basically what I'm asking is if the ohms are per voice coil, or total. Any help would be great! This would really make things clear.

I have a 2002 nissan altima without the bose speaker system. I currently have a Pioneer deh-4200ub headunit and in the front I put in 2 alpine type S coaxial speakers. In the rear deck are 2 pioneer 6x9s that were installed by the previous owner. Im looking to add some more midbass to my system because the current speakers just seem sort of flat. I dont have an amp hooked up and the HU is powering the speakers. Ive read here that an amp is necessary to get the most out of your speakers because the HU pushes something like 22w. Im pretty content with the type S's up front sq wise. They are 5 1/4 if I remember right and thats all that would fit in there without fabrication …

  22. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using a car audio sub in a home theater setting? I will be getting a Crown amp that is somewhere aroung 4k - 5k watts so power shouldn't be too much of an issue. I was mostly looking at building a box for a single 15" since the box for a 18" jumps up in size considerably. Any info and/or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Eric

  23. I have a Diamond TDX 15" , in a 2.65 cu ft. box, GROSS, so it's probly right near 2.25 after all dispacement. It's ran off a Memphis 1000D . Ported with 2, 3" round ports 14-1/2" long each. According to the Diamond Tech line this is at 34 hz. and it slams pretty good. BUT , it' still lacking to me! This is in an 04' Pontiac Grand Am trunk, there is more space but I need it for the kids things and my wifes. Also access to the spare tire for road trips etc. So I want to either switch to 2-10" Quality subs or 2-12" quality subs that will give the same SQ. but more output ! It does real good but is a little bit lacking in the bottom end (because of port size) . I couldn't g…
