ok i need some help decideing between my next setup. i allready have a RE12.1 amp rated at 1200wrms at 1ohm but i've seen bench tests showing close to 1500wrms, i have a 99 grand am and would like to keep the box around 3.5cf net. now my options either 2 10's ported 1 12 ported or 2 12's sealed. in all honesty i would love 2 12 mags sealed but as nick informed me their only come in dvc2 which won't work with my amp, well they will work but i dont think their output will meet my needs. so now that leaves me looking. so far im looking into ssa icons, audioque 2.5, aa arsenal, and re se for dual sub setup and AA havoc, audioque hdc, nightshade, and re sx for single sub setup…

I am beginning to look a good component pair to put into my factory 5x7 location after I sound deaden in a couple weeks. First, Does anyone think I can fit 6.5 woofers into a Ford Focus 5x7 hole without much fabrication (meaning adapter plate or MDF ring). If I can't fit a 6.5, how much is lost by going to a 5.25 inch set? I am really lacking midbass now with the 5x7 type-r coax's that came with the car. Hoping that sound deadening and a decent set of components will fix that up. I will be powering the set with an Alpine MRP-F450 (70wrmsx4, or 200wrmsx2 bridged).

Okay so I took some measurements today just to see how much space I have to work with. The idea is to keep my third row seats. That was the main reason why I brought a suburban instead of a tahoe. So far this is what I've came up with. *Note all measurements are external* Height: 23 3/8 inches or 28 1/2 inches if I go up to top of headrest Width: 49 inches Depth: 28 3/4 inches I went to 12volt.com to use their volume calculator and it came out to roughly 15 cft of internal volume space. I want to go ported with the 18's and I want to go both subs and ports facing up as apposed to subs up and ports to the rear. You guys think this is do-able with the measurements I've po…

I have 2 kmg-15D's. They are dual 4 ohm, 15" subs. I don't have any specs for these subs. If anyone has any T/S numbers for these subs, I would greatly appreciate the info!!! I need enclosure info for these speakers mainly. These subs were built somewhere between late 1998 and 2000. I need sealed and vented enclosure measurements for enclosure size, for sealed, and enclosure size, and port area/tuning for vented. Please!!! If anyone knows anything, let me know!! I really need to know!! Thursday, I plan to have enclosures built for these subs. Please help!! Thank you very much. Joseph

Curious again about subwoofer recommendations. Looking for the loudest and clearest out of the three but mostly leaning towards output. i have the option of using either a MTX 1501d or a Hifonics BXI2008 and subs can be in basically any size box. 2 Re Audio SX 12 2 SSA ICON 12 1 Fi BTL 18 Thank you in advance

Thinking of getting 2 sets of Diamond Audio's s600s (6.5" comp with the silk tweet). How is the mid bass and how well does this set take that 170rms rating? Looking to keep up with 2-BTL12s. One set in the doors and the other in the kicks. Both pairs of woofers would be sealed in its own glassed enclosure just big enough to fit the woofer.

Hey guys, looking to upgrade soon. I just got my Sundown SAZ-1500 in the other day, running it at 2 ohm on 2 Memphis M-Class 10's ported and Its not very loud at all. I was looking at running 2 12's possibly ported. Or maybe 1 or 2 15's in Sealed enclosure. It's going in the back seat of a Toyota Tacoma x-cab so I dont have alot of room. I need subs that I can run the pair at 1 ohm. I originally was thinking of either 2 Fi SSD's or 2 Fi Q's. I looked into the SI Mag's but they would put me at .5 ohm and I'm not doing that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Whats up peeps. Im in the market to upgrade my current system (well atleast the sub). Running a 15"FiQ, 3.5cuft 30hz, off a crossfire vr1000d. I love my sub SQ is great and hits suprisingly hard for an SQ sub, just that the output level just isnt cutting it anymore. Thought about adding another Q but space is somewhat an issue, dont want to cram dual 15's and not get the most out of them. So im looking for a replacement. I want to stick to a single sub setup. I know that i need a high power sub so these are my current options. (Adding anouther crossfire amp eventually) 1)Fi BTL 15" 2)RE XXX 04-05 models 15" 3)Audioque Hd3c 15" 4)Memphis Mojo 15" I know i will be losing S…

I wanted to get some input on components as I have had little luck with getting the goods. I have limited car audio dealerships near me and they all seem to deal about 6 manufacturers and not all that great. The best I hear around here tends to be the cheaper JL VR series. Thats not saying much I'm sure, so any suggestions for someone who cant ear them. I like them to be linear, meaning not bright in the highs and not flat in the mid bass region. And worst of all they have to be competent for my next attempt at an LSQ vehicle which will be most likely a trio of Fi SSD 15's powered by a SunDown Saz-3000D at 1.33 ohms ( I'm banking on 2250 - 2500 watts there.) I am expectin…

been digging in on the system some and have discovered the original plans of the sls 8" isnt going to work just due to the sheer diameter. Need some recomendations on a badass 7" midbass driver to be mounted IB in the front doors with a max depth of 4". These will be running active with Seas W12CY-001 4.5's and Seas 27TFFNC/G tweets mounted in kick pods. looking in the area of 200-250 per driver to be the high end. Front stage is to be powered off 2 Sundown 100.4's to allow for flexibility of more power to the 7's by bridging the one running them for more output if needed. Thanks in Advance

Alright I would like to ask all of you by experience what do you think about the comparison? I have 2 12w7's running off a 1000/1 soon to buy another 1000/1. What do you think, I know that the btl subs have high spl but chit on sq. Say that both systems have 2000 watts of clean power running to them which one would have a more db's.

I recently ordered I'd CX62s to run off of my sundown 100.4. I want to find some 2 ohm comps that can handle around 150wrms and can be had for around or less than 200. I got my IDs for under 150 so hopefully it's possible.

currently i have 2 12" boston acoustic g5 subs with 2 12" gtr passive radiators running off a mtx 1501D in the spare tire well firing up. im not satisfied with the spl and want something louder. im thinking about taking them out of the spare tire well and removing my rear strut bar and then make a box where the subs can fire towards the rear of the car or fire them towards the cabin since there is only a metal cross brass between the trunk and cabin (2003 mitsu evo 8). since i have the gtr radiators, im also considering firing my subs to the rear of the car and have the gtr radiators fire towards the cabin all in a sealed enclosure (shown in an example on boston's websit…

Alright, as the topic says, I'm looking for a component set for my Thunderbird. I currently have a pair of Infinity Kappa coaxial speakers in it. They are 6x8 and that is what my bird is designed for. I'm looking to spend no more that $250 on a set. They will be powered by a RF P400.4 amp. I have no problem fabricating some MDF size reducers if necessary. This is my only place of reference really, and I trust most all of your opinions. No one around my area has any type of aftermarket stereo, so I really can't demo anyone. Over all what I'm looking for is something that can get loud, but still sound clean. Any suggestions or previous experience with a certain p…

Hello all, what's good.. I have been running a 2005 RE xxx 15 in a Powered for Sound snail shell enclosure for over 3 years off of a hifonics brutus bx1500d at one ohm. I am pretty sure this enclosure has a tuning of somewhere around 27-28hz...This is the frequency range that my subwoofer moves the least at when playing sine waves. I think 28hz is also the FS of the 2005 xxx 15. Anyway, I am tired of the overly-loud, and sometimes sloppy bass that ported enclosures offer. Time to go sealed. I am going to be using the amp I already have, which provides 1500 watts at one ohm (some claim overrated). After some research I have decided on the following possibilities: - 2 dua…

I have a bit of a delima. I am going to have two 8" subs and planned to put them in my truck, but I now realize I have quite a bit less space than first anticipated. My question is, would it be better to place one sub in more space, or to put both of them into quite a bit less space? The subs are soundsplinter rl-i8's, and I have about .72ft^3 total to work with. That would be about .28ft^3 per driver after displacement. Or I could put just one in about .64ft^3 after displacement. So which would produce more output, one with more space or two with less. I will be pushing it with a memphis amp which gives 1100 rms at 1 ohm.

They seem great. I still can't believe Mark's prices. You would never guess that they're $36 speakers by looking at them. They even came with grills and hex screws. I'll be installing them tonight. I can't wait. You'll get a review on Monday. Since this is my first post, here's a little background: I'm 16, got into this stuff when I got my car at 14. I drive a Geo Tracker with a pair MAW12s, each in a PWK designed 4th order BP. The boxes are stacked in a wall sorta style. It's ridiculously loud even with the soft top. I have a PHD-10,000W/2 driving the MAWs which are wired to 4 ohms. My front-stage consists of a NINe.4 driving a/d/s tweeters and the MLIs wil…
