Subwoofers / Speakers

I've been thinking about upgrading my system sometime next year. I'm thinking about getting 2 10" fcons when they are released. I should have the space for a ported enclosure but don't want to pay a shop to do it and I think it would be fun to do myself. The thing is that I don't have a lot of experience with wood working. Would it be hard for someone like myself to build their own enclosure? I'm not trying to do anything fancy just a rectangular box. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get my hands on all the tools needed. Would I need any other power tools besides a circular saw and a jig saw?

I installed my d2 and it sounds great it just doesn't get as loud as I though that it would (stroker 12 I heard) I have it in a 2.35 ft^3 tuned to about 33hz and a diamond 600.1 (600 @ 4 ohms) in the trunk of an accord should I have tuned the box higher or get more power? right now it is as loud as two type R 12s I had in a sealed box but not as loud as the stroker (sealed) that I heard last night. what can I do

hello im new here my name is chad i have a sony xplod HU kicker 12 and an oldschool targa hexfet 500 watt amp in my 93 civic 4 door well when ever i turn my car on my sub starts thumping moving in and out about 2 or 3 inchs doesnt look too good but if i wait it will quite down and not move as much. now when i make any changes to my radio change tracks on my cd change radio stations any thing it will start doing it again untill music begins to play then it will stop. when i turn my car off it thumps too what could it be im so confused and when im listining to a cd and i turn the volume all the way donw it sounds like thunder in my trunk

I was looking for some 15's. Looks like some Kicker CVX on ebay are about the best price. Anyone know of anything else?

Doing a system to my 2008 sierra ext. cab... I already have a kicker ZX700.5 amp and CDT EF-61i comps... Also going with the alpine IVA-W205 head unit... I'm looking for a little help on what sub I should look into... Looking for one 10" for a sealed in the .65 to 1.0 net vol. range.. Will be under back seat... With stock seat height I'm looking at a 5.5" mounting depth... but I'm looking at raising the back seat 3/4" max with wood blocks... If I do this it puts me up too 6.25" mounting depth.... The kicker will be feeding the sub around 400-500 watts rms @ 2ohm. IF I can get the seat high enough I am going with a sound splinter rli-10... IF raising the seat don't work …

i just put in some pioneer 6x9s in my car and they sound like a cross between a subwoofer with no crossover and a tweeter..... no bass at all either. the factory speakers sounded much better. what a waste of money

im thinking about getting 2 dc level 4's (15s) and i was wondering if they come in dual one? i want to run both of them to one amp (possibly the sundown 2000d?) i want to run at one ohm. the dc site only says dual 2, so im just curious.

If I wall it off in my truck, the subs will go right into my seats. Will they still sound loud this way or does all the sound go into my seats?

Does anyone know where the t/s parameters to the 18's of either the 9500 or the hdc3 can be found? I am trying to get a box designed but the companies don't have them posted that I can see.

I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.

I am going to design a H/T enclosure for my brother's SX 15. It is a dual 4 ohm and was built in 2005. I cannot find the original T/S parameters for this driver, and non of my modeling programs have it either. I also have no idea if the current SX drivers are the same or not... Any help would be appreciated!

Is there any companies out there that would be willing to custom make a recone kit with a high roll surround? Say I wanted to recone a BTL or something or that sort, but I really wanted a high-roll rubber surround. I know TC makes their subs with them, as does SoundSplinter with their Rl-p 18, but I want to do it with a sub like the BTL, DD 9500, or something else in an 18.

I am getting a Fi Q15 dual 2 running at 4ohms. I matched the sub with a Autotek 1900.1D mono block. I was wondering whether to go ported or sealed. I know ported is louder but it is hard for me to track down a enclosure online and I can't locate a local shop to make a custom one for me. Is it worth it to go ported or no? If so can you show me a great site that has good prices to get a box that would fit the q15. Also any comments on my set up would be greatly appreciated. FYI I am on a 650 budget.
