Thinking of getting a line driver to get a bit louder. My amp is an Alpine MRVF340 (V12). How much can this amp take from my head unit's pre-outs?

Major lurker for a while. Love the site. Posted a few times, but I suck. Anyway. I was considering three subs: FI Q, SSA Icon, and SI Magnum (new one). I have a LOT of rap music, and when I play it I of course I want it to sound nice. However, the rap music I like is mostly bay area rap and older rap (94-98) and the bass lines aren't always the Jeezy, Weezy, whatever the hell loud ones. But when I'm cruising solo, I mostly listen to Soul (60s/70s), R&B (classic and contemporary), and Jazz. Listening to this kind of music doesn't usually ring the subwoofer bell for most people, but can a sub be a valuable asset to these genres? Are there any suggestions on how to …

to anyone out there claiming to hit a certain number with their solo X 12's do me a favor and OWN their a$$. i am getting kinda sick of seeing the crap floating around and hope i dont have to see it here. maybe if we nip it in the bud in every forum we all visit we wont have to worry about it spreading here. Now if they say their solo X 12 is valid because of a red or black X in fingernail polish, let em believe it, me a tracy are just making a couple bucks off the sucka's we got enough to retire yet tracy? Simple question here how much can a vvx 8" handle? I know it says 400rms but for those who own them would I be able to put lets say 600rms for daily use? And how good are they?

I'm trying to come up with a ported box using the http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html, for my MAW-12. I've come up with the following, just wondering if it's right. I've gone to a bunch of other design programmes but they seem to require metric conversions to be made or info I don't see on the specs for the sub. The measurements I've come up with are the following: Using 3/4 MDF, 24X15X15X15, Port 1.5x13.5, with this I come up with a tuned freq of 28.62 which is right around the specs of the MAW-12. Ok so im working on my box and i have the option to do 2 8's or 1-12" aero port for my box. Im not sure which will be the better way to go and i know they equal roughlly the same thing. Im trying to decide which 12" sub i want in my car (its a 75 Chevy Nova hatchback). I listen to almost nothing but rap and i want to be very loud with one 12. Amp is a sae-1200dv1,im going to do the big 3 in 1/0 gauge,and i replaced my alternator when i rebuilt my engine but i have no idea how many amps it is. My budget is $350 so ive been looking at the Mach 5 spl,fi bl,and aq hdc3 copper...open to suggestions,i will make the optimum enclosure for whichever 12 i get. Im leaning toward the mach 5 or aq for when i want to upgrade my power instead of having to add another sub and amp.

I have a pair of coaxial speakers JL vr5.25" and I was wondering if I could add another set of tweeters on top of the coaxials... might be a stupid question but I was curious because the coaxials are installed fairly low on the door of my 2004 mustang. I should've got separates to begin with but I'm curious if I can get away with just adding tweeters. Thanks.

Haha just kidding Mark, but my alternator took a dump today. I was driving along, tunes cranked all the way, and then I notice that I'm getting a lot more voltage drop on my voltmeter... kinda cool until my amps shutdown cuz the voltage dropped below 11 on the beats Long story short, it doesnt charge much at idle, and I'm hearing a whining noise coming from the alternator. I'll be taking it in on Wednesday to get it rebuilt and see what actually fried. I should be able to make it to work and back tommorrow with it, unless I can bamboozle my dad into driving me, which I doubt.

Researched both and like what I read on both for SQ. Both are great looking subs, but don't know if I want the Morel because of 1000watts. Just don't want to hit that hard but if it is that tight and clean I would consider it. What do you guys think.

i have a powerbass asa1500d 1500 rms at 1 ohm i clamped it at 1603 rms without clipping so which would get louder on that power an icon 15 or an xcon 12

So the new SQ hdx are out and just wondering who has played with the 12s, I’m contemplating getting them in the dual 1s and want to know what people think? Only person I know running them has a wall of the 15s and I run 2 12s so not quite the comparison

anyone have the parameters layin around for the ixl 10? Mach 5 took the ixl 10 off there sight and now i cant find the specs. any help is appreciated

Thinking of getting 2 sets of Diamond Audio's s600s (6.5" comp with the silk tweet). How is the mid bass and how well does this set take that 170rms rating? Looking to keep up with 2-BTL12s. One set in the doors and the other in the kicks. Both pairs of woofers would be sealed in its own glassed enclosure just big enough to fit the woofer.

will there be any difference in sound if my sub box is not extreemly tighly stapped down to be seat.? i can get it to where it stays in one spot but due to position and size i would have to drill holes through my seats to make it rock solid strapped down.

Im getting my older SI reconned since its blown. My question is, whats the BEST for a 15" SI sealed? What airspace before displacment would yield best results?

Ok, I already have one 3512 dual 2 ohm and a single saz-1500d. just wondering if it would be ok to get another dual 2ohm 3512 and wire them down to .5 on a saz 3500, or to wire them at 2 ohm on 2 1500's? expanding in the future is a possibility too.
