So what I'm looking for is some clean, tight, bass to add to my current setup. Loudness is not really what I'm going for, I don't want the sub to overpower the rest of my system. I currently have a 4CH JL amp feeding 60W (i think) to some 6.5 mb quarts. Now I'd like fill out the bottom end. When I put in a sub I'd like to run a hpf on my components so that they don't have to play the lower freqs (is this right?). Also, space is a concern. So from what I've read on this forum, I'm thinking of going with a SA-12 in Dual 4 coils and the most powerful amp @ 2ohms that I can afford. Was looking at the Alpine MRPM500 or MRXM50. I'd like to go with a sealed enclosure, but…

Okay, So i have a 2001 jetta, i dont know how big my trunk is and i suck at math. I was orignally going to get 2 12's btl but everyone told me that i would neeed to upgrade my alternator and the big 3. is this true? so my other option was to go with the 2 12's BL, but i dont know if i would still need to upgrade anything electrical. but either way, i would perfer to get the btl but dont have enough money to get a new alternator and the big 3 okay, now either way if i were to go with the btl or bl, what would i want to configure the woofers too? like this list thing Ohm: P Chamfer: Cooling: Flatwind: Daily or SPL: Extreme Lead: Universal: Dustcap: i would be using this dai…

As the topic says. Does anybody have first experience with these 6.5" component sets? How do they sound? Are the highs edgy? Is the midbass there? With my accommodation price...they're definitely one of my first picks. Any other recommendations around the, oh let's say, $130 price range? For power I'm looking at around 100 watts RMS...most likely a SAX 100.2 (or SAE 50.4 bridged? ). I'm not sure I can justify the extra costs of going active; I'm not terribly picky about the lack of adjustability.

Just keep in mind that this is going in the cab of a Del Sol. The subwoofer enclosure will be fiberglassed of course directly behind the two seats. The enclosure will consume literally everything rearward of the seats. I might own a very powerful amp soon that will be able to anihilate the 15, let alone a 12, or even 8's. So now my options are totally open.

Want to get some opinions. Will you get a 15" or 18" sub? Let's go with the Xcon. And, why you would choose one over the other?

Now, for a little explaining. We're going to have our logo at the top across the back (where your sholderblades are), which is what "SI" is in the poll above. The first option listed above is to put the text "Subwoofers" under our logo and then start the phrase below that. The second option is just for our logo and then the phrase under that. The phrase that we've decided on will take up the back of the shirt, it's not just going to be a little line on the back. So anyway, put "Subwoofers" under our logo or no? I'm voting no, but the VP votes yes, so the rest is up to you guys.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Does polyfil slow down the air in the box and make a sub sound as if it is in a larger box? So say I have a pair of 15s and they require between 1.5 cubes per chamber and 2 cubes per chamber each sealed. Say I put them in 1.5 each, could the appropriate amount of polyfil in each chamber really make them sound as if they are in 2 cubes each?

okay i will be getting everything that's in my room installed either today or tomorrow depending on the shop's availiability. but i would really like to know how to stuff my box with polyfil. i went to wal-mart and found that they come in pillow shapes like 12 x 8 or somethin and they are different sizes. now am i supposed to just buy a couple of those and cut them open and dump what's inside into my box or what? i have a 2.3 cubes sealed box after displacement. how many of these things should i buy? now this question should probably be somewhere else but hey i'm using stereo integrity products so i thought i'd just get all the help i can at once. since i will be getting…

I have installed a new pair of Havoc 15" subwoofers in my truck, powered by two SAE-1000D amps bridged and notice a distinct lack of dynamic range, or ability to hit "peaks". It's almost as if it's built to play test tones, only. As soon as I play rock music at relatively high volumes, the fast bass notes and kicks clip and distort. It's not very loud, but I turn the gains down till it no longer clips, as any good car audio enthusiast would. Now it's quieter than quiet, and it just barely wants to clip if a loud enough drum comes along. Now if I play a bass mekanik CD I rattle store windows and do mini-hair-tricks at 20Hz. No clipping, sounds good. Switch to rap or …

I was playing "Clearest Blue" by CHVRCHES and it was pounding, in a moment of foolishness, I pumped up the sub out volume on my HU and the sub was putting out some serious bass and then nothing. My fears were confirmed when I pulled the XCON 10 yesterday and saw the broken tinsel lead. I knew I didn't cook the coil as I didn't smell anything, in fact, the coil looked perfect. I do NOT want to do this again. I've had the XCON for over 2 years now and it's in a box designed by SSA. I've fed it with a Rockford Fosgate T-500 bd, then a PPI Black Ice 5000 (1700 watts rms @ 2 ohm (per manufacturer (yes, I know that number is grossly over inflated)), and finally on a Rocf…

  20. hey everyone...so i just installed my new audiopipe ap15001d about a week ago and am loving it! this icon is a totally different beast now! for a single 12'' it makes things rattle like crazy! i have set the gain with a dmm for about 900 watts or so (my box is 2.5 cubes tuned to 32hz with 37.5 sq inches of port so i dont have it at the full 1000 because the box is the manufactures maximum size) but recently i have noticed some poping and cracking noises coming from the sub during certain songs. now it doesnt do it on every song and there are about 3-4 that are making it do this. (head blown off by evil pimp - decaf version along with i got 5 on it - luniz the bigpi…

  21. So, I recently purchased a set of ID X65 and XS28 to run active. Got everything installed and working correctly yesterday and today one of the tweeters just stopped dead in it's tracks. I'd say about an hour of play time. I tested the driver for continuity and got nothing so it's definitely the tweeter that failed. I am running a RF T400-4 with the tweeters on front channels and the mids on the rears. I set gains with a DD-1 to the 0db track and all pass for xover on the amp. I crossed the tweets at 2.5k with 24db slope to start with. I am using the network mode on my pioneer 80prs for xover duty. Was this just a faulty unit? Or am I doing something wrong? Any help is app…

I know that too small a port area will lead to port noise, but what happens if you have excessive port area? For example 20 sq inches per cubic ft of volume? I know many manufactures recommend 12-16 inches per cubic foot of volume, but is there a downside to going over this?
