Just wondering why the majority of subwoofers have a lower QTS and designed more for a vented enclosure. Yes, you will see maybe +3db from a vented vs a sealed similar enclosure, but is that always that crucial? I've built plenty of sealed enclosures in the past that have sounded great, and had great curves. Plus the you have the advantage of a smooth roll off, and generally allows for higher power usage with its better cone control. Then you have to think that many users don't know about subsonic filters and freq tuning. Hey guys, I need a set of kickpods for the kick panels of a 3rd gen Formula. Its an 88. I want to fit a pair of 6.5" comps in the kicks. I was wondering sence I will not have time to learn how to glass while home, if someone would build them for me? I am obveously willing to pay. Just let me know how much. J

Im looking for a good 6.5 component set that is under $300 dollars and has good midbass. dont have an amp now i will get one that will match up good with the components.

right now i have 2 12" alpine type-r's powered by a Viper 1200d amp. They are in a small sealed box. Would a 12" mag be better. i am looking for sound quality mostly, and spl only secondly. in a 01 jetta.

im running a rf power hx2 15 d2 on a saz1500 at 1ohm around 1000rms. ok im wondering cause this is my first sub that can handle some wattage and my first "real" amp. which it can kill this sub if i turned the amp up. if i happen to phuk up and kill it is it possible to get a custom recone for my hx2? cause ive searched alot to get one just in case. but i thought about it and if imma get one why not get one with a flatwound coil and stiffer suspension? who/where should i begin to go about getting this done? ****? thought id ask u guys b4 askin them a bunch of questions maybe someone knows a better place

I just order 2 maw-15's from the sound solutions shop. I gonna run them sealed and power them with a hifonics bx1500d about 1300-1400 clean watts at 1 ohm to both of them together. How hard do you think they will hit and how loud? Im running a fi ssd ported with the same amp right now but i need more , since my car has bad cabin gain. Will this set up kill my 12 inch ssd I have now? Im trying to get my setup louder and deeper then a fi q 12 inch ported powered by a 1000 watt lanzer amp. Well we had our Focal rep come into the shop today, and he was telling me an another co worker about all the new Focal stuff. I happened to ask him about the Focal Grande Utopia Em and he told me that they are the best sounding speakers he has ever heard. With the 180K pricetag for a pair, I would hope they sound that good. But here's my question, the subwoofer uses some new technology where it doesn't use a permanent magnet at all, but instead uses a huge winding of wire as a magnet. What advantages does this yield? I though I heard someone say something about controlling the force of the motor also. I just want someone to simplify the function of this.

Thinking of getting 2 sets of Diamond Audio's s600s (6.5" comp with the silk tweet). How is the mid bass and how well does this set take that 170rms rating? Looking to keep up with 2-BTL12s. One set in the doors and the other in the kicks. Both pairs of woofers would be sealed in its own glassed enclosure just big enough to fit the woofer.

i let go of the 4 18 idea and and decided to go more practical. i am in the market to buy a sundown 3000 or maybe and mtx 92001. i want to use either 2 15 inch subs or 2 18 inch subs if i can fit them in my trunk with adequate airspace. the subs i have been looking at are the orion hcca's. are these subs any good? btl's fully loaded are also looking good but i am not sure exactly which sub to buy since i have never heard any of them play in my application. my question is using a ported box in the trunk of a 04 towncar, which sub and amp combination would give me the best impact. i am more concerned with impact and deepness of the bass. if anyone could point me in the righ…

Next week ill be buying 2 MJ-18"s for my explorer. 12.4 cu ft box tuned to 31 hz. gettin 700rms each. will this get loud enough? ive been spending a lot of time in my friends denali with 2 Fi BTL 18"s and i dont wanna be disappointed. while im not expecting output like his...will i come close at all?

Well...Yesterday I decided to stop being lazy and shove it all in the car...Everything is wired up and playing except the 8's in the doors.... so i notice my sub can handle 720 @ 4 ohms but it is wired as 2 ohms so will it be able to handle more the 720 or will 720 still be the peak no matter what ohm you wire it at

I have an AQHDC315 d1. wired to a AQ 1200.1 at 0.5 ohms. I am thinking about getting a second 1200.1 and bridging them. The question is will making this upgrade be significantly louder to the ear. I know its hard to say because it always depends on box, setup, installation, etc. but I am just trying to get an idea.

I have a LOT of rap music, and when I play it I of course I want it to sound nice. However, the rap music I like is mostly bay area rap and older rap (94-98) and the bass lines aren't always the Jeezy, Weezy, whatever the hell loud ones. But when I'm cruising solo, I mostly listen to Soul (60s/70s), R&B (classic and contemporary), and Jazz. Listening to this kind of music doesn't usually ring the subwoofer bell for most people, but can a sub be a valuable asset to these genres? Are there any suggestions on how to …

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for my summer build. I want to try a multiple sub setup (3 or 4) just because I've never had more than two subs before. Anyway, I found this simple calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=26 When I put in the parameters for the subs I'm looking at, I use the suggested Qtc of 0.707. With every sub I've tried, this gives me an enclosure volume a little larger than I'd like to use. I noticed in the "note" that you can use a Qtc of 0.9-1.2. When doing this, it brings the enclosure size down significantly. My question is, what are the drawbacks and advantages of not using the suggested Qtc of 0.707?

I've given serious consideration to selling my D2 12 and purchasing a 15. At the moment, however, I would only be able to throw 460 watts rms at the thing. My 12 in a 2 cube box at 28 hz gets louder than I ever need it to with that many watts but will the 15 respond the similarly? I do plan on upgrading to a 1000 watt amp sometime in the future but it wouldn't be for at least another couple of months. I would probably put the 15 in a 2 -2.5 cubic ft sealed box, but space really isn't an issue. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Mike

Simple question here how much can a vvx 8" handle? I know it says 400rms but for those who own them would I be able to put lets say 600rms for daily use? And how good are they?

Was just curious about which of these would be louder. 2 IA 187 10s in 1.5 cubes each tuned to 33 - 34hz or 2 SSA dcon 12s in 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33 - 34hz? I have the dcon 12s already, but my gf likes the way they sound sealed and I'm thinking of giving them to her with the sealed box. I've personally never tried 10s before, so it would be something new to me. I could get the 2 187 10s for an awesome price as well.

My question is can i use 14g wire to make My subs 2ohm?Then run 12g wire from the Sub to the amp?

which sub can get loud with maintaining good sq and which is just overall better. ill be gettin 2 12's they'd be goin in a 4 cube box tunned to 32hz. either would be runnin on a aq2200d amp. so any input?
