I have a set of 8 Ohm Solo Baric subs I am looking to run on a Mono Amp. I used to have a set of Solo's that were 4 ohm that I ran on a US 1000x. Can't remember what the setup was but I know I had a neg from one sub running to pos to the other sub, then one terminal pos going to the pos on amp and neg going to the amp. Is that just a bridge Mono? Would that have been at 1 ohm? My question is, If I do that on my 8 ohm subs what Ohm rating will I be at. and also what is the exact wiring configuration. I am having an extremely hard time finding a US 1000x amp. I am considering running a JL500/1 does anyone have any other amps they like, I am going towards a SQ setu…

A buddy of mine still has the first system he bought a couple years ago consisting of 2 Kicker CVX 15s in a sealed box (the shop said they couldnt make a ported box with space they had, but I ran it on Torres an the box would have only had to be 2in taller to run a port which would put him at the top of his back seat.) He said he likes his 15s but he wants to be "louder" and hit the lows better. I told him I could build a ported box for his car, or we could upgrade subs for the new box. I have him looking at the XCON 18. He has a HIFONICS Brutus 2200. I figured at 1 ohm he would see 1700-1800 watts. Would 1 XCON 18 in 6 cube box at 34hz be as "loud" or "louder" than the 2…

I've researched both Maw 12 and the V-Max 12.x, but I still havent found a clear answer on which one has more SPL and good SQ. I'm also open to other subs in the same price bracket ($100ish) and fits my needs. It seems like once I find one I plan on buying, I find another more options to choose from. I'm building a ported box and buying the amp to match the sub I purchase... which brings me to my other question... ...can someone point me in the direction of an amp ($150ish) they recommend?

Hi Guys, I am currently running a Crunch GP12D4 running off a Hifonics Titan TXi 6006 (budget setup in a small UK car) but I'm not sure what the ideal box would be? I'm going for an SQ setup but I do like my bass The manufacture reccomend 1cu ft in a sealed box & 1.25 cu ft in a ported box? What would you guys recommend? Also what would be the best way to wire up my sub to give the best sound? Sorry for all the noobie questions but there isnt as much online info in the UK Thank's all!

I used the hex head 275lb pressure hold screws with coarse thread and The icons won that battle and snapped the screws in half. so I was wondering on some ideas to keep the woofers in the wall

So i plugged my Icon 10 D2 into WinIsd according to the specs on SSAs site. For some reason it says the best response is going to come from roughly .5 cu ft ported. The optimal suggested on the site is 1.5 cu ft. which is what i built and it sounds great. Of course i wanted to play with the port sizing and the cu ft a little bit and see if I can do better. Are the specs correctly listed? Do i need more than what the site lists to get the program to work correctly? I dont think i could even fit the sub in such a small box!

I want to go passive over active right now because active seems way more expensive considering that this will be my first component build. But, how do I get good mids and tweets to sound good with the crossovers? JimJ said that these crossovers won't work too well? Amp: Crunch PowerZone 4-Channel Amplifier (PZi175.4). Sub: Dayton RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm 350w RMS. Tweets: Morel MDT-12 1-1/8" Neodymium Tweeter 80w Mids: Dayton Classic DC130-8 6" 50w Crossover: Dayton XO2W-3K 2-Way Crossover 3,000 Hz Another question, will this ^ sound better than this: Pioneer Components, TS-C160R

I would have clicked the buy it now but..... those have the old school rubber surrounds that are most likely somewhat dry rotted. These would be better off kept in the box the way they are. I would LOVE to put these in my 91 Acura for a somewhat period correct system but these are just too damn sexy! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...I:IT&ih=006

So i've decided to go with the 18" BTL N2, but was wondering if i should get the cooling option or just the p chamfer because in the tech area it says getting the cooling will weaken the metal- what do you guys suggest i do- im getting all other options. Its going to be for everyday play. Thanks in advance.

Need a little help with box design. I tried out about 6-7 of them now and they all give me different numbers. I want to do a 6" Aero port (unless recommended otherwise). Any sites you guys know of where it takes displacement for the sub and port into consideration while calculating? I tried BCAE1.com, Internal dimensions are 12.5x28.5x21.9 = 7801/1728= 4.5cu. ft. Their site is saying Gross volume = 4.2, which is already wrong, then -.32 for sub displacement and also need to subtract port displacement....?? RE's site doesnt allow aero port calculations.

So im planning on getting 2 12" xcons I have the money to get one right now. I already have a 12" enclosure. I could order one (when they become available) and use it on the current enclosure while I wait a bit til I can get the 2nd one. My question is, will there be any unbalance or noticeable difference when it comes to the break-in period? If I go this way, by the time I get the 2nd one, the first one might be already breaking in and I wouldn't like unbalanced bass. Sorry if this is a really stupid thread, I dont know if such thing is possible or if humans can even hear such a difference. But I rather ask than regret in the future.

this may sound funny but I built a new box today and the program from baec1 say that it is 2.1 after displacement and tuned to about 29 htz when I put the sub on I had a pop sound on heavy bass notes but I can't tell if it is coming from the sub or the port same amp as last box had to turn the gains down in the new box for fear of damage but I never heard this with the old box which was about 2.4 at 33 htz I did notice that I did not screw the port board to the top of the box only the bottom has anyone had this and does it sound like the pop from the sub next box is going to be sealed I am not smart enough for making ported boxes :thud:

sounds dumb i know... but what would be louder? 2 15" Kicker L7's or 1 18" BTL. im working with very little space and all being stuck with strict parents who want the spare tire to stay in the trunk of my jimmy so i have about 6.5 cubes at most. thats barely enough for either selection. either way i go i will make sure they have a good amp going to it and sufficent electrical. im just currious for what i have to work with, what would bang harder. im going with a ported box obviously. i REALLY want a BTL after seeing the amount of output these things do. i like my L7's aswell. im just curious and kind of new to this. Never heard a BTL before so im not sure how to compare i…

ok, i am getting a new 15" (when they send these bad boys out). but i want to make a small sealed box, close to 2 cf. This is going to be put into a Saab 9000 hatchback. Also i have viped d1200.1. I have two box ideas, 1 is just a rectangle, and the other is a wedge design, witht the woofer facing somewhat at an angle. also i overhan the long peices over the sides. which one would sound better in my car?

Good evening, my underseat truck setup finally kicked the bucket so I'm going to finally upgrade like I've been wanting to, doing a budget friendly soundqubed setup to match what I have now, (SQ amps and highs and mids) I drive a 2002 F150 supercrew (4 door, 5.5 foot bed) too and powering low end stage off an SQ 2200d. My questions are: 1. Is a regualr ported blowthrough possible with 4 15's ? All I see are 4th or 6th orders around (trust me I have searched a lot) My goals are to be loud, low and clean. I modeled different enclosures with WinISD and I get the best response with a ported box versus a 4th order (probably because of the stupid high QTS). 2. Is a clamshell a…
