I've got around 300 to spend on a sub and am looking to get a decent s ql setup. I don't plan on upgrading my electrical so I'm trying to stick around 1000w. I want sq so w/e I choose will be put in a sealed box in the back of my extended cab toyota t100. I'm very interested in the mach 5 subs. How would say a ixl 18 compare to a fi q 18? I'm considering a single mach 5 ixl 18 or 15 with 1000w or 2 mach 5 mj`8's off of 1000. Which setup would get louder? Which would have the better sq? I'd really like to get to the 140db range but I'm not sure if it's possible with only 1000w sealed with these subs. What do yall think? Any help is appreciated.

Currently deciding between an 18" Bl or an 18" RL-P.. I am basically looking for just a loud daily driver that will pound the lows. I have 1500 watts on hand to power them.. What could I expect from each sub, and how do they compare?

So im brand new to car audio and have been browsing this site as a guess for a while. I have decided on buying a maw-15(one) sub for my setup and am thinking about getting the rf p150, i am just making sure that they would work together nicely. If you have a better suggestion for an amp, i would be glad to hear, however im not looking to spend any more than the 211 dollars the rf amp will cost me. Thanks in advance

Hello all. Hope you`re all doing fine I strill haven`t had a chance to alter the Escort install. But I have been messing about with my vectras boot install. Check this out: See this weird box... 6th Order bandpass or simply a tunnel in a boot. This box is far better than any box I have ever made It plays low. It plays loud. It plays a very wide musical frequency with accuracy and is practically flat in it`s overall frequency response. O.K. The system specs. Vectra Sri - Boot System. 1x HMM Box- That`s what I`m calling it - After the ideas from a guy called Henry & Mazdawg & Me making the thing to see what happens. 1x SPLd S-1200d (1200wrms @ 1ohm) 2x Brand n…

I listen to a wide variety of music ranging from house, deep house, electronic, metal, alternative, rap/hip-hop. Vehicle is a 2003 honda civic coupe.. sub in the trunk. Stock electrical. I have a friend with dual Kicker L5s running at 1000 watts total with his factory Durango infinity audio system..I'd like more output and more sound quality than that. The entire car has already been deadened with Edead in the trunk and front doors. I will never be competing in any competitions, but I would like accurate musical reproduction with a bonus of great output. Ideally my budget would be < $1000 for sub/amp/front stage, whether it be 1 sub or 2.. and remember I've already got…

I run a 15" SSA Icon in a 4 ft3 ported enclosure, but I just have a round PVC port. I can see that most of the ported enclosures use beautiful "slot" ports (is it the good word ?). Those are more difficult to do, and you have to make it right the first time ! It's difficult to change them after. I want to know why do people use those ports? What are the advantages, comparing to simple and adjustable round ports? Sorry to bother with all these questions, but I am here to learn, and to run my sub correctly. BTW I love the sound of my sub with this enclosure, and I will try to tune it lower !!!

So, what's the general opinion on the best sealed enclosure size for a 15" D2? Seems like a lot of people prefer 2.4cf? Also, is that before or after sub displacement, and what is the displacement of a 15" D2? Also, does polyfill do anything besides making the sub think the enclosure is larger? If that's all it does, why not just build the enclosure larger in the first place? Basically all this is the long way of asking, how big should my enclosure be??? Thanks~

After my brother came to me wanting a new sub for his 84 S-10 after his ex-wife stole and sold his old one on him. I imediatelly recommended the MAW-15. Well today we installed it in an old 2 cubic foot prefab box I had kicking around the house and hooked it up to his Alpine MRP-M350 which is rated at 350rms @ 2ohm. With the size of the box and seeing as its only an extended cab, the MAW sits only 2" behind the front seats facing forward. And I have to say.......having never driven a car where I bascially sat near the sub, or even having a hatch or fold down rear seat for that matter. I was truely impressed yet again at the musicality and overall output of this driver. My…

Can a 150WRMS output from the AMP is enough to boost a 175WRMS Sub?.. Will it sound good?... what would you recommend if that is the scenario to improved performance of the sub or the amp considering that's gonna be the setup?.. thanks

The sub box is 2.0 cubic ft per sub tune at 34hz with Sundown sa 12. I've heard that with tunning below 35hz your lpf should be around 80hz or below! Any truth to that? And shouldn't the lpf slope play a part say if 80 hz was best is that with a 12db slope or 24db or does that even mater?

does anyone out there by chance have a file made for WinISD pro alpha? for 15 inch magnum. i had it but lost in durring reformatting (yeah i used to be a computer nerd hehe) but now when i try to make one with the updated alpha pro it says stuff is missing and i need more specs. but on the bright side, it seems the updated pro alpha might be more accurate with magnums? i know lots of stuff looked really crummy on paper wth it in the old pro alpha, but modeling up a 12incher ported in there (yes i kept 12 inch files) it had a better F3 than the ported 15s from the old version.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone would know from experience why the HC's aren't put in sealed boxes that often. I seen on some forums people who want to put the HC's in a sealed enclosure, but then other people are like "no don't do that" but they don't give a reason at all. I searched and searched but haven't been about to get a real solid answer. I ask RE and they said that they don't sound bad but they don't get as boomy. However isn't this true with most sealed vs. ported applications. So know I am even more confused about the situation. I have 2 of the 15HC I bought from the sale if you guys are wondering. Spring break is coming in a couple of weeks so I plan …

First if would like to say hi to everyone on the forum. I am 34 and have been buying stereo stuff since before i bought my first car. never got into box building or fabrication but i know a little bit about a thing or two lol. Ok my lasst set up was a single ssd 15" powered by a Memphis 400watt 2 channel amp...i know not enough juice by the us amps i had been running fried. Well i sold that a few years ago and looking into buying a new set up for my 08 gmc envoy. Its not going to be for competing unless some little punk tries being stupid and i have to show off a bit. i am building a setup for listening only, no competitions or anything, running (2) sa-8 dvc 4's, i was originally thinking of a sundown 1000d, which i felt was enough, but everyone i see with sa-8's is running either a 1200d or 1500d, is it safe to run these larger amps for daily abuse on the subs or is the 1000d going to be enough, thanks for your advice

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement surround that will fit this sub? It has about a 3" tear in it but the rest of the sub is perfect. I contacted SSA but they wont sell just the surround but want to sell me a complete recone. I have found plenty of replacement surrounds on the web but none look like they will support the excursion of this sub. any help would be appreciated. thanks

I got my 12" Magnum today. Such an amazing looking work of art. I am hoping to get my amp rack done and get it in the car this weekend. Then I just need to wait for my 302's and then I'm done. Who hoo. It starting to feel good. I am really excited about it now.

I'm still looking and agonizing over sub decisions. So many things out there.. I was thinking Fi SSD's, but I want other options as well. Here's what I want: Three 12", 4ohm DVC Good mix of SQ and SPL, with a bit more SPL $250 or less (preferably in the $200 range) Sealed box @ about 1.25cu ft per sub (net displacement) Someone suggested to me the new Hertz HX300's. Has anyone heard these? How do they sound, and how loud can they get?

I was trying to spec out a large enclosure car audio build. I am working in the range of greater than 13ft^3, but less than 14ft^3(depending on speaker displacement and thickness of mounting. I am unable to respec the box dimensions. I was wondering if this box would be capable of working with two IB315's or if this is too little of a volume for proper operation. I am looking at a QTC of between .735 and .75 depending on just how much space I lose to sub, sound proofing, and wood displacement(not sure if this calculation would stay the same with two subs sharing the same volume?). My desire for an IB setup is low power requirement needs, and using the box as built. Thanks…
