Alright, I honestly don't believe in breaking in subs usually. I've never done it with anything I've owned and never had a problem. Well I just placed an order for a second sa12. I currently have one I used by itself for probably 6 months so its nice and loose. Plan is to pair it up with the new one...will I have any issues since 1 is nice and broke in and the other will be brand new? Will I need to loosen up the new one first or will it just happen on its own over time?

kudo's go out to these two gentlemen as they have been really helpful the last couple of days regarding my decision on what subs to put in my wife's car.(which has changed, and i believe it will be a single twelve ) it will either be a tcsounds sub(probably the tc2+12.2) or a soundsplinters premium (based on the tc9) 12. both have answered emails promptly and anwered any and all questions thourghly. when u go looking for ur next sub...make sure u look into tcsounds(look at audiohole.com as that is where they sell their overstock or be prepared to buy 50 subs..lol :thud: ) and soundsplinters.com...u won't be disappointed! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm in the final planning for the enclosure I am having built inside the trunk of my Camry for 2 15" Mags. I haven't decided exactly what to do with the ports though so I need some advice. First off, I have 9.3 cubes gross to work with. The base model I am working with is 29hz tuning with 93"port area, 34" length and 7 cubes net for the Mags. But playing around with WinISD I have found a couple other things that work as well. For example, 29hz with 93" port but 7.4 cubes and only 32" port. Or, 30hz with 101" area and 34" length with 7 cubes net. My goal is powerful low-end and of course SQ. I might compete casually with this but I would really like to get good num…

I have a pair of coaxial speakers JL vr5.25" and I was wondering if I could add another set of tweeters on top of the coaxials... might be a stupid question but I was curious because the coaxials are installed fairly low on the door of my 2004 mustang. I should've got separates to begin with but I'm curious if I can get away with just adding tweeters. Thanks.

okay i was thinking about getting rid of my 6.5" SLC comp set for a pair of these. http://www.creativesound.ca/index.html it says flat 65hz - 20khz. its gona take up a lot less space in my car, and im prolly gonna fiber these and port them to 62hz or so to bring up that midbass freq. will this actually play down to 65hz? 80 even?

I'm guessing it is vehicle dependent, but when you all are trying to plan out your enclosures. How do you all map out your graph on winisd if you even look at that. Say I was trying to build a box for my xcon that is not here yet and I wanted to build a box that was great for metal, but I still wanted a bump in the low end. What would your graphs look like, sealed or ported?

Well to start off i have a 95 camry, my previous system was stolen which was a 15'' L5 on a punch 1001bd in a sealed it was loud but not enough so im not that disappointed that its gone but now im looking for something better. I just came back from a few audio shops to get some ideas. i was thinking four sealed 12 but the way the box will have to be will make the two outside subs starve for airspace, so i started looking into some subs that will be alright in a small enclosure...(JL 12w6v2)the guys recommended three 12's or two 15's the subs im looking into are... Two 15's BTL AQ HDC3 L7 Four 12's Cvx 12w6v2 Fi Q The amps will probally be two AQ2200 but im open for sugges…

Wasup guys at SSA! Its been a while and I need help on a upcoming setup I plan on getting in a week or two. What system would be loudest between 6 10" RE Audio REX 10's, 2 12" Alpine Type R's, Or a 18" Mach 5 Audio IXL 18.2.2. I might be right but six tens (period) should be louder because of more cone area but I dont really know. I also havent heard RE Audio products personally and on top of that the REX ones are entry subs. Their 175wrms each but can take more power and I just wanna be loud and still hit lows good. Space and power isnt a option. Whatever I get will be hooked up to a Hifonics HFi1500d so that will be fine and possibly tuned to 32-34hz. Please help me on …

Hello guy was really looking at some new subs to replace my old jl audio w6 12"s. I was interested in the sundown sa12 model and been checking out some nasty videos where these sub can take a beating and put up some numbers. But was wondering if there where any standard cut sheets on these subs? I've seen on there website for box volumes. Was thinking on going ported and i have not built any ported boxes, but was just wanting to just get the dimensions and go.

Hello, I have a pair of 302's coming soon from SI. I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions on these things. Specifically the mounting flange overall diameter and the cutout diameter. Also cutout diameter for the tweets and mounting flange size (l x w) would help to. I am nearing the end of my trunk install and need to focus on some mounting rings for the mids and tweets. I want to be able to position, fleece and glass once they get here. Nick, Sundownz, K-mart I think you guys all have experience with these. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

My current system consists of 2 JL10w3's which I have had for a few years. They have always exceeded my expectations and impressed my not-so-caraudio-savy friends. I have done my research and set my sites on Fi BL 10's. I am wondering if my dual ported JL 10'' box and pdx 1.1000 will be enough to get a great performance out of 2 BL 10's. I'm not looking for maximum power, I am just trying to impliment new subs into my existing setup w/o the need to purchase a new box and amp. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. box: http://boxshoponline.com/zencart/images/3615.jpg

Hey, whats the biggest subs you guys think that will work good in my hatch? Its about 39" wide. Top of back seat headrest to the curve at the back, depth is about 18-19". Depends on how high you go from the floor. Floor to the back of the headrest is 16.5-17". I was thinking about doing two 18" Xcons with a sundown 3500. But I don't think I have the room. I would like to be as loud as possible and sound good. Thanks.

  21. Just wondering why the majority of subwoofers have a lower QTS and designed more for a vented enclosure. Yes, you will see maybe +3db from a vented vs a sealed similar enclosure, but is that always that crucial? I've built plenty of sealed enclosures in the past that have sounded great, and had great curves. Plus the you have the advantage of a smooth roll off, and generally allows for higher power usage with its better cone control. Then you have to think that many users don't know about subsonic filters and freq tuning. I'm not being biased towards any enclosure, they all have their uses whether sealed, vented, band pass, isobaric, free air, etc but it just seems that…

Hey guys i'm playing with kerf port design. But i'm clueless on how big the kerf needs be, compared to the size of the port. The port i'm using is 2.5 x 37.5. Should the kerf be the the same size as the port width or half the port width? Here is the design so everyone can see how i'm tring to get the kerf.

Okay, so I got my 12' Pioneer subs a few weeks ago and I put them into an old box that I made for my other system a while back. After a few days of listening to music on my current setup, I noticed that my woofers were not hitting the lows AT ALL and I am a big fan of C&S Music so this was really disappointing for me. I ran all the parameters if the sub in bass box 6 and my recommended tuning frequency is like 21 Hz. Am I doing something wrong here? Also, Could anyone really help me out and just give me a quick rough draft of a suitable box design for this application. The specs on the sub are here http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/TS-W3002D2_Instructi…
