the diamond audio d3 12's i'm getting are asking for 2 cubes in a ported enclosure.... well I have some extra room and I made up some plans for a box that's 3 cubes and ported at 34 htz..... is going bigger than the recommended volume actually worse? same thing for the tuning freq..... i don't know what they're SUPPOSED to be tuned at, but i think their response is 25-250... so i thought 34 would be low enough to make 'em pound... what do you think?

Okay the recommendation for a sealed MAW-15 is 2.2 cubes which from my calculations will result with a Q of 0.548 (roughly) which should yield a tight response. I usually have built enclosures before with a Q of .7 and at the very least built enclosures with Q of around 6. My question is that has anyone tried these with a higher Q than the recommended and what were your results? For example below are some boxes sizes I came up with, no damping fill. Vb of 2.93 cubes = Q of 0.501 Vb of 2.5 cubes = Q of 0.524 Vb of 2.2 cubes = Q of 0.548 Vb of 1.88 cubes = Q of 0.578 Vb of 1.65 cubes = Q of 0.605 Vb of 1.10 cubes = Q of 0.704 Vb of 0.61 cubes = Q of 0.904

I've was looking at the SI BM to use in a behind the seat install, but they don't seem like they will be ready in time to order. I don't have much experience with shallow mount subs. Just looking for some other options for brands. I want something that will work best in a ported enclosure. Don't have an amp picked out yet, so power will be determined after sub is picked. This is for my GF's younger brother, so it doesn't have to high end. I'll be building the box to fit behind the seats of a pickup. So, not much room. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!!

i let go of the 4 18 idea and and decided to go more practical. i am in the market to buy a sundown 3000 or maybe and mtx 92001. i want to use either 2 15 inch subs or 2 18 inch subs if i can fit them in my trunk with adequate airspace. the subs i have been looking at are the orion hcca's. are these subs any good? btl's fully loaded are also looking good but i am not sure exactly which sub to buy since i have never heard any of them play in my application. my question is using a ported box in the trunk of a 04 towncar, which sub and amp combination would give me the best impact. i am more concerned with impact and deepness of the bass. if anyone could point me in the righ…

I was listening to my stereo on the way home and stopped to get some pizza and waited in the car with the stereo on. I decided to not be a prick and I turned the sub off. I missed the bass so I turned my HPF off at the HU, which I usually have set at 63, and the mids actually do pretty well with the bass. I turned it back on and set it at 50Hz and it wasnt bad but theres so much bass im missing with it on. I am going to continue running the HPF at 63 when I have the sub on, but the times I turn the sub off I would like to disable the HPF to the mids to get some bass back. I was thinking of going to the amp and setting its HPF so that if I turn the HU's HPF off, the amps H…

So i blew my morel supremo's.. 440$. Nice. Anyway what other tweeters are out there that sound great but are cheaper. I was on madisound and was looking at other morel drivers. The tweeters are so much cheaper then what i paid for these supremo's. I still want to get them but they are expensive and now i am questioning if they are worth it. Any tweeter recommendations would be appreciated. I am running a pioneer 9800 headunit off a sundown 100.4 amp. My mids are SEA excel's.

Okay, so I have a RE SX, I have had it for a year now and I am kinda getting sick of it. So, I was wondering. What kind of difference would it make going to a DC Level 4? I will be running 1000 watts to it. Would I be happier? I like good, loud, clean bass.. but who doesn't?

I am in Canada, and I'm just looking for a few options, and shipping and stuff will cut into my budget. I was going to go with two Mach 5 IXL-12.2.2s and an Orion 2500D. The subs are only Dual 2. However, Mach 5 is Canadian and the Orion is also in Canada. I'm looking for some alternatives. Whatever combos you guys can come up with, for around 800 bucks for the sub(s) and amp(s) and shipping to Canada....

I just got my fi bl 12's in today and they are sexy as hell!!! But I was thinking..... since I have some 18's and some 12's why not buy some 8's. Sure I would love to get some fi 8's, but since there are none I guess I will have to get something else! I have NEVER purchased 8's before and was wondering if yall could give me some input on some. I have 3000 watts to work with and was wondering what are some 8's that are on the same level as lets say fi's BTL series. I have heard of people getting some crazy numbers on them but do not remember which model or company they were referring to. Help is appreciated!

Hello, I am currently putting together my plans to build a box for one fi audio ssd 12. I am going to build a ported box and I was wondering about bracing? I will only be pushing 500 watts to this sub but will be upgrading to 1000 rms in the future. I was wondering if putting 45's in the corners would be enough or if I need something more. I keep reading mixed responses about 45's in a sub box. I also am having a hard time understanding the whole port length thing. Any help is always appreciated thanks!

this may sound funny but I built a new box today and the program from baec1 say that it is 2.1 after displacement and tuned to about 29 htz when I put the sub on I had a pop sound on heavy bass notes but I can't tell if it is coming from the sub or the port same amp as last box had to turn the gains down in the new box for fear of damage but I never heard this with the old box which was about 2.4 at 33 htz I did notice that I did not screw the port board to the top of the box only the bottom has anyone had this and does it sound like the pop from the sub next box is going to be sealed I am not smart enough for making ported boxes :thud:

We use a QSC Line Array setup for virtually every show we do, even in smaller areas. The disadvantage is price and setup time. The advantage is more even coverage over the area. In our situation we simply use two stacks each consisting of a KW181 Sub and two KLA12 tops. Typically we try to place them on the stage far left and right and aimed slightly inward. The thing to remember with line arrays is that to retain the advantage of the line array you need significantly less overall volume than you might be used to in a conventional setup. In a conventional setup you're depending more on volume to fill an area, but because there's less loss of sound vertically, things …
