  1. Hello Everyone, Just dropping in to tell you that we found a basket/frame that will work nicely for the Delta midrange drivers however we are still lacking a basket for the omegas. I'm not going to set any kind of release date considering how unpredictable this sort of thing has turned out to be. Once we have a production version of the prototype it should be approximately 1-1.5 months before production can start full swing if the lead times we have been dealing with are any indication. The basket for the delta is stamped and allows 14mm of movement before the spider runs into the base of the frame with a flat spider. We could use a spacer and get the needed excursion f…

hey guys i was wondering if yall could help me out on my goal. I want to get to 150 on music daily/ground pounder or as close as i can get to 150 with the amount of space and power i have. To start off with i have a 275 amp Ohio generator alternator, most likely i am going to buy 1 or 2 xs d3100 batteries. Thats what my electrical is going to consist of. So for the amp i am go to buy a saz-3500. Now for subs i would have a budget of $700-$800 and i have about 8ft^3 to work with and thats after port and bracing displacements. I would also like to tune my box between 32-34hz as i listen to mainly nothing but rap music. let me know what yall guys have in mind.

I have a 98 blazer with aftermarket electrical system. I currently have 2 SA-15s running off of a hifonics hifi1500d. I'm wondering if i would notice any difference in sound if I added another sa-15 and ran a hifonics hifi 1000d on it? I want my system to be louder but not stupid loud haha any input on upgrading amps or anything like that will be accepted!

  6. I would like suggestions for some 8" mid-bass drivers that can easily keep up with my 15" xcon. I would prefer the cost to stay under $150. And to just let you know, I love mid-bass just as much as deep bass. I mean the mid-bass you can feel in your chest. From the 60-120hz range is what I need these to cover. Thanks

Well I think enough time has passed and all the reps have read the newsletter so I'm going to divuldge a little bit of info. First, we are making new drivers. They will be silver 12 basketed with new moving assembies and a completely new motor. Pricing is going to go down a smidge instead of just staying the same. Here's a few pics because that's all the info for now. PS: Just one pic for now. This is first proto using our existing motor. Another proto is being made with our new motor very soon.

Hello all. I wanted to start this thread out of pure curiosity. I have been in the audio industry as an enthusiest and a proffessional for about a decade. In that time I have played around with lots of different brands of subs. It seems in recent years manufacturers have been developing what they market as "superwoofers". The subs are getting huge and the prices sure have followed suit. In my quest for more knowledge I have found my way here to the SSA forum. It seems that there are a lot of not-so-mainstream subs that are quite popular. My first experience with a high-output sub that wasn't available in every stereo shop across the nation was an Audiomobile Mass2012. Aft…

Well, as the title states, let's get some vids up of the actual production drivers. I'll start: 12", 250watts, 1 cube sealed. http://media.putfile.com/MAG1

Well I've kept you all in suspense long enough. However, I am NOT going to post a side-shot of the Mag because we are changing the basket color and something else. The picture below is NOT of the final driver - the gasket is going to be re-done so it matches up better with the surround. As you can see, there is a gap. The gap will be fixed. So, without typing everything all over again I'm going to paste what I just sent my reps: I got the driver hooked up in 1.2 cubes in the Civic tonight!!! It

  11. Here is the ssa 15" xcon in a infinite baffle setup, it is a temporary setup so it doesn't look nice, this was to just see how it would do in infinite baffle, to just let you know it is only getting roughly 200-250watts of power. Oh, and by the way, this inst the guy who actually uses this account, im the friend hes next door looking for mdf. video 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtWSgJyrHDU video 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOTSggsL7SU video 3 - Outside - were outside the house in this one.. not that interesting. and im the one talking, not the owner of this account. he told me to post em up here while he was outside. so again, this is just something we did in…

My friend is looking for some components and has about 175W @ 4 to play with and ofcourse wants to fill that void with speaks rated somewhere up there, but it seems to me there are more quality components in the sub 100W range. I noticed there are few passive component sets that are rated up over 100W RMS. Are there any high wattage components that are highly recomended? PS- Price range around 200-300

This is the Omega, the most excessive 6.5" midbass/wideband driver we could manage for the target price for now. I stress this is an exceptional driver even for dedicated midrange use and not just a brute of a midbass driver! It does very nicely down to 70hz IB in car and 45hz in a ported floor standing speaker at home. It could also be used effectively as a wideband driver with a supertweeter. It comes in 2, 4, and 8 ohm versions. The 8 ohm version has an aluminum phase plug. Here are the t/s for the 2 ohm: Qes = .537 Qms = 3 Qts = .455 Fs = 54.33 hz Vas = 45.88l Xmax = 22mm Re = 1.6 ohms Le = .05mH Sd = 140 cm^2 Bl = 2.3 Tm 93.4 dB/w/m 100.4 dB/2.83v Here are the t…

I am looking to upgrade my alpine type r 12 inch subwoofers. I had came across the soundqubed HDS 300 d2 12 inch sub and had made my mind up until I heard about american bass xfl. My setup is a 4 cubic net internal volume ported at 32hz. Currently pushing 2 alpine type r with an alpine mrx 240 amp rated 1500 watt at 4ohms and 2400 watt at 2 oohm in a grand am trunk rear firing. Which would perform better with the given parameters? Can't find a whole lot on soundqubed, no box specs although the HDS 300 had really good reviews but so does the xfl. I have to electrical to supply the power for either. Which would be louder out of the hds300 or xfl? Any opinions would be great…

I have 2 boxes in my trunk. Each identical, like the picture above. My boxes are around 1 cubic foot, with these 2 ports tuned around 33hz each box.. There inside a 2000 Ford Mustang Vert, and there the best I can do. my best response is around 35-45hz in the cabin. My amp is a kicker 750.1 running around 800 or so rms, cleanpower. My current subwoofers, 2 Kicker CVRs. There great subwoofers, but im looking for more, an I know people I can sell them to so I can get a decent return on them. Im looking for the best 10 inch subwoofers I can place in these boxes to get the most out of my system. I am not sure how well different subwoofers preform in different enclosures,…

Hello all, I have to say that Fi car audio has really caught my eye.. first off I will say Hi and that my name is Tyler. With that said here is my question. I have been looking at the FI SSD 15 and I'm not sure about what ohm and stuff to get on the sub with the amp I have. I currently have a Crossfire VR602 and I need some help with picking the options on the sub ( such as Ohm: FlatwindCoil: BP Power: ). Im sure i dont need flatwindcoil or bp power as they just seem to be upgrade options.. so basically all i need to know is what ohm I should get on the sub dual 1 or dual 2.. and im sure the amp will be underpowering the sub but should it sound ok bridged?

  18. Hello, I would like to know why so much people want to have 2 10" subs in their cars ? Isn't it easier to have just a 12 or even a 15" sub ? In my country, cars are smaller than yours, but we prefer running one sub on one amp, than multiple subs setups. I think it might be for the output, btu can you give me your opinions, please ? Thanks all

Hello guys, new to this forum. Im in search of good midbass to fill between my mids and sub. Ive read many many many posts and articles on midbass, here and on a lot of other car audio forums. I am not an electrical engineer/car audio guru of any sorts, but i like to do my own installs. It seems to me that the subject of midbass is the most difficult to understand for us "noobs". Most threads start simple "with what is a good midbass driver" then goes into a debate with the much more advanced audio guys on octaves, peaks, kiple ratings , Q's, Vas, etc... I realize that saying "brand x driver is definately what you need' is impossible to do with all variables i…

My current system is (2) 15" AA SMD (2) SAZ-3500D (4) 7" AA Carbon Fiber (1) SAX 4.100D (4) XS Power D3100 (1) DC Power 320Amp Alt. The power range in the tweeters i'm lookin in is roughly 80-150rms. I am looking into Seas right now, as i was recommended to them by a few people and i've heard Marks and they sound great, but last time i checked.. Marks were sold out. FML. I am considering Super Tweeters also though, because they will get stupid loud. My budget is 100-200 total for tweeters. What i'm looking for is tweeters that will get really loud, so it will have a standing chance with my sub stage. I recently had (2) complete Alpine Type R component sets, REALLY loud b…

  23. I am a proud owner and representer off SSA line of subwoofers. I have owned the Icon and currently the Zcon, and have installed a pair of Dcons. All three sound great, the Icon being my favorite at the moment. The problem that I am encountering right now is the stress noise I am hearing on lower notes at higher volume. This first became apparent on the install of a local Dcon's. Where we began testing and preparing initial gain setting. His setup consisted of 2 12' Dcons on a single AP1500 in a sealed enclosure for his maxima. This "scratching" noise was only noticable in a subwoofer at higher volume on lower notes for only ONE subwoofer, while the other showed no signs o…

I have 4 RF Punch Stage 1's (I know they suck, temporary until I can get more money). I just lined the inside of my box with mattress padding (cheapo, I know). Before I put the foam in the box was tuned to 29 Hz. Did the airspace the foam took up make my box smaller? I built the box with 4 separate chambers, each one being 1.805 cu. ft., which is slightly larger than the recommended 1.79 cu. ft. per sub. So is the box smaller now and have a different tuning? Also, is fast double bass bad for these subs? I have them on a horrible Xplod amp wired at 2 ohms ~600 rms. They sound good, but I know I'll be getting something else asap.
